How to connect the Phono PreAmp PRO?

Connect the turntable to the stereo RCA input (L/R) of the preamp, then the RCA output to an AUX or Line input of your amplifier. Plug in the 18V power supply and turn on the device.

Which cartridge type can I use: MM or MC?

The Phono PreAmp PRO is compatible with MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) cartridges. Select the corresponding type using the PHONO TYPE selector on the front panel.

How to know if my turntable is equipped with an MM or MC cartridge?

Check your turntable's manual or the manufacturer's specifications. Generally, moving magnet (MM) cartridges are the most common. The MC cartridge offers a lower output voltage.

The blue LED does not light up, what to do?

Check that the power supply is properly connected and that the mains socket works. Make sure the POWER switch is in the On position. If the LED remains off, contact customer service.

Can I connect multiple turntables at the same time?

No, the Phono PreAmp PRO has only one stereo RCA input. You must use a source selector if you want to connect multiple turntables.

Is there a risk of damaging the device by using an MM cartridge on the MC setting?

Yes, this can cause input overload and sound distortion. Always set the PHONO TYPE selector according to your cartridge.

Oehlbach's Phono PreAmp PRO is a high quality phono preamplifier. It enables you to connect a turntable to the Line or Aux input on an amplifier or AV receiver that doesn't have a phono input. Both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) pickup systems can be connected. The audio signals are amplified with extremely low-noise and distortion-free properties.

Operating elements

PHONE TYPE: By using the „Phono Type“ switch you can select whether the device is to process an audio signal from an MM or MC pickup system.

POWER: Press the Power switch to turn the unit on or off. The blue LED on the front of the unit will illuminate when it is switched on.

Note

Before using the Phono PreAmp PRO please check to verify the pickup system used by your turntable and set the PHONO TYPE switch accordingly.
