M29561 This feature helps prevent damage to the compressor in your air conditioning or heat pump system. Damage can occur if the compressor is restarted too soon after shutdown. This fea- ture forces the compressor to wait for a few minutes before restarting. During the wait time, the display will flash the message Cool On or Heat On. When the safe wait time has elapsed, the message stops flashing and the compressor turns on. Message flashes until safe restart time has elapsed. Built-in compressor protectionRTH3100C 9 69-2339EFS—01 M29563 M29562 Batteries are optional if your ther- mostat was wired for AC power when installed. Install fresh batteries immediately when the REPLACE BATT warning begins flashing. Even if the warning does not appear, you should replace batteries once a year, or before leaving home for more than a month. Batteries provide backup power to the display during power inter- ruptions. All settings are perma- nently stored in memory, and do not require battery power. Pull at bottom to remove thermostat from wallplate. Turn thermostat over, insert fresh AA alkaline batteries, then reinstall thermostat.
