  • This appliance is intended exclusively for indoor domestic use. In order to reduce the risk of accidents, including: fires, electrocution, personal injury and scalding, both during use and during preparation, maintenance and storage, always take the basic precautions listed in this manual.

RISKS CONNECTED TO THE POWER

SUPPLY – ELECTROCUTION

  • The earthing system and highly sensitive residual-current circuit breaker, complete with magnetothermic cut-out for your domestic system, guarantee safe use of electrical appliances. Therefore, for your own safety, check that the electrical system to which the appliance is connected complies with current laws.
  • Do not connect the appliance to the mains if the voltage does not correspond with that of the domestic electrical circuit in use.
  • Do not overload sockets with adaptors and/or transformers. Only connect the product to a single socket with current that is compatible with the supplied plug.
  • Do not use electrical extension leads that are unsuitable for the power rating or which are not compliant with the law. They may overheat and possibly lead to short circuiting, fire, power outage or damage to the equipment. Only use extension leads which are certified, suitable for the power rating, supporting 16A and earthed.
  • Always turn the appliance off at the ON/OFF switch before unplugging it.
  • To remove the plug from the socket, do not pull the power cable, but hold the plug itself to avoid damage to the plug and the cable.
  • Fully unwind the cable from the cable winder before connecting the appliance to the mains and before use. Always use the product with the cable completely unwound.
  • Do not pull or jerk the cable or expose it to stresses (twisting, crushing or stretching). Keep the cable away from hot and/or sharp surfaces and elements. Avoid crushing the cables in doors and windows. Do not pull the cable tightly around corners. Avoid treading on the cable. Do not wind the power cable around the appliance, especially if the appliance is hot. Do not place the appliance on top of the power cable, this can be dangerous.
  • Do not change the plug on the power cable.
  • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, itsENGLISH | 20 | service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid all possible hazards. Do not use the product if the power cable is damaged.
  • Do not touch or use the appliance barefoot and/or with wet body or feet.

RISKS DURING USE OF THE PRODUCT –

  • The product should not be used in areas where there is a danger of explosions or in the presence of toxic substances.
  • Do not pour toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents, corrosive substances and/or explosives or perfumes into the boiler.
  • Only pour water or the water mix indicated in the section “WHICH WATER TO USE” into the boiler.
  • Do not direct the steam jet onto toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents or corrosive substances.
  • Do not direct the steam jet onto explosive powders or liquids, hydrocarbons, open flames or extremely hot objects.
  • The handling and removal of dangerous substances must be carried out according to the indications of the manufacturers of these substances.
  • Do not position the product near sources of heat such as fireplaces, stoves and ovens.
  • Do not position the product near electromagnetic fields such as induction plates.
  • Re-wind the cable when the appliance is not in use.
  • Use the special carry handle for transport. Do not pull the power cable. Do not use the power cable as a handle. Do not lift the appliance using the power cable or the steam hoses/vacuum tubes.
  • Do not obstruct the openings and grills on the product.
  • Do not direct the steam jet on any part of the body of people or animals.
  • Do not direct the steam jet on clothes while they are being worn.
  • Cloths, rugs and fabrics which have been subjected to a deep steam reach very high temperatures, above 100°C. Wait a few minutes and check that they have cooled before handling them. Therefore, avoid contact with the skin if they have just been steamed.
  • During use, keep the base in a horizontal position on stable surfaces.
  • The steam lock on the handle guarantees greater safety, as it prevents the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people who are unaware of the function of the appliance. When steam is not being used, engage the steam lock.ENGLISH | 21 | To continue steam delivery, return the switch to its original position.
  • Iron only on surfaces that are heat resistant and which allow the steam to permeate.
  • When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed, is stable.
  • If the iron rest mat needs to be replaced, only use original spare parts.
  • The iron must be used with the ironing mat provided.
  • The iron must be used and rested on a flat stable surface.
  • The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking.
  • Do not place the hot appliance on heat- sensitive surfaces.
  • If ironing whilst sitting down, take care to ensure that the jet of steam is not angled towards your legs. Steam can scald.
  • Before connecting the appliance to the current, ensure that the continuous steam jet button is not pressed (if present).
  • Never leave the iron unattended when it is plugged in.

CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT

This appliance is intended for internal domestic use as a steam cleaner, in accordance with the descriptions and instructions contained in this manual. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them. This manual is also available at the website www.polti.com. Never leave the appliance exposed to weathering. Correct use of the product is only as detailed in this instruction manual. Any other use may damage the appliance and invalidate the warranty. POLTI S.p.A. reserves the right to make the aesthetic, technical and construction changes it deems necessary, without prior notice. Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your VAPORETTO may contain some residual water in the boiler. Tests performed by a third party, independent laboratory certify that Vaporetto kills and removes 99.99% of germs and bacteria if used based on the instructions included in this manual with the microfiber cloth attaached and for a continuous operating time of 15 seconds.

INFORMATION FOR USERS

Pursuant to European Directive 2012/19/EU, regarding electric and electronic appliances, this appliance must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but sent to an official collection facility. This appliance complies with EU Directive 2011/65/EU. The crossed-out bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from other waste. Therefore, at the end of its life, the user must hand over the appliance to an appropriate collection centre for electric and electronic waste or, according to the legislation in force in the country, leave the used appliance with the distributor when buying a new product to replace it. Proper separate waste collection to facilitate the subsequent recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal of the appliance helps to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health, and promotes recycling of the materials the product is made of. Unlawful disposal by the owner may result in the sanctions envisaged by current legislation. WHICH WATER TO USE IN THE BOILER This appliance has been designed to function with normal tap water between 8°f and 20°f. If the tap water contains a lot of limescale use a mix composed of 50% tap water and 50% demineralised water which is widely available to purchase. Do not use pure demineralised water.

Warning: check the hardness of the water at the technical

office at your local council or the local water supplier. If you only use tap water, you can reduce the formation of limescale by using the special Kalstop (PAEU0094) anti-ENGLISH | 22 | limescale product, distributed by Polti, and available for sale at all major domestic-appliance stores and online at www.polti.com. Never use distilled water, rain water or water containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes), or water produced by other domestic appliances, by water softeners or filter jugs. Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or limescale removing substances, etc.

1. PREPARATION FOR USE

1.1 Open the tank closing cap (1) and fill the tank with about 1l

of water, making sure that it does not overflow. This operation must always be carried out when the boiler has cooled and with the power cable disconnected from the mains. Thanks to the continuous refill system you do not need to stop and wait for the appliance to cool down because the tank can be filled as needed.

1.2 Replace the tank closing cap.

For the Pro95_Turbo Flexi model open the flap of the built- in socket and insert the connector of the steam hose (2), pressing the specific button and making sure that the hooking pin is inserted perfectly in the specific locking hole on the socket.

1.4 Connect the cable plug to an earthed power supply of the

correct voltage (3). Completely unwind the power cable before plugging it into the mains and before use, and always use the appliance with the power cable completely unwound.

1.5 Press the boiler switch (4) which will light up together

with the “steam ready” indicator light ( ).

1.6 Wait for the “steam ready” indicator light ( ) to turn off.

The appliance is ready for use.

1.7 Before starting steam cleaning, you are advised to sweep

or vacuum the surface to be cleaned.

2. CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES

All Vaporetto accessories can be connected directly to the handle of the steam hose or extension tubes as follows:

  • Move the locking button on the accessory to the OPEN position (7).
  • Attach the required accessory to the hand gun or to the extension tube.
  • Move the locking button back to the CLOSED position (7).
  • Check that the locking button has engaged and the accessory is fully connected.

You can optimise the steam flow by means of the steam adjustment knob (5). To increase the flow, turn the knob clockwise. Turning anti-clockwise reduces the flow. Here are some tips for regulating the flow:

Maximum level : to remove encrustation, stains, grease and to sanitise;

Medium level : for carpets, rugs, glass and floors;

Minimum level : to steam plants, clean delicate fabrics, wall coverings, sofas, etc.

4.1 Make sure that section 1 has been followed and connect the

accessories as indicated in section 2.

4.2 Connect the extension tubes to the steam hose and the

floor brush to the extension tubes.

4.3 Release the floor brush by placing a foot on the symbol

4.4 Attach the cloth included to the Vaporflexi floor brush by

inserting one end of the floor brush into the pocket of the cloth (9), then insert the second end of the brush into the second pocket of the cloth (10).

4.5 With the extension tubes push the floor brush downward

in order to lock it (11), possibly using a foot.

4.6 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the

adjustment knob; for this type of surface we recommend Medium level steam (5).

4.7 Deactivate the steam lock (6) and continue with steam

delivery, pressing the steam trigger on the handle of the steam hose (6).

4.8 Clean the floors by moving the brush.

The brush includes a small brush which is ideal for removing the most stubborn stains. To use, turn the small brush (12), then tilt the extension tubes so that the bristles touch the floor and loosen the dirt (13-14). At the end of the cleaning operations, the cloth can be removed by pressing with a foot on the special symbol and pulling the extension tubes upwards to release and open the brush.

WARNING: When first operating steam, there may be some

drops of water mixed with the steam due to temperature imbalances. Direct the first jet of steam onto a cloth. Before using the appliance on delicate surfaces, ensure that the part in contact with the surface is free from foreign bodies that could cause scratches. Before removing the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool.

WARNING: Do not use the appliance without the cloth.

WARNING: For additional safety, before using the appliance

on delicate surfaces and those treated with with special oil, wax, etc. test steam delivery on a hidden part and leave the steamed part to dry to ensure that no changes in colour or deformation have occurred.ENGLISH | 23 |

5. CLEANING RUGS AND CARPETS

5.1 Make sure that section 1 has been followed and connect the

accessories as indicated in section 2.

5.2 Connect the extension tubes to the steam hose and the

floor brush to the extension tubes.

5.3 Place the cloth in the frame (15). Then insert the Vaporflexi

floor brush in the cloth placed in the frame, continuing as described in Point 4.4.

5.4 With the extension tubes push the floor brush downward

in order to lock it (11), possibly using a foot.

5.5 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the

adjustment knob (5); for this type of surface we recommend Medium level of steam.

5.6 Deactivate the steam lock (6) and continue with steam

delivery, pressing the steam trigger on the handle of the steam hose (6).

5.7 Run the brush over the surface moving it backward and

forward (16). At the end of the cleaning operations, the cloth and the frame can be removed by pressing with a foot on the special symbol (8) and pulling the extension tubes upwards to release and open the brush.

6. CLEANING GLASS, WINDOWS AND TILES

6.1 Make sure that section 1 has been followed and connect the

accessories as indicated in section 2.

6.2 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the

adjustment knob (5); for this type of surface we recommend Medium level of steam.

6.3 Ensure that the steam lock on the handle is deactivated (6).

6.4 Press and hold the steam trigger on the handle of the steam

hose (6) and steam the surface thoroughly to dissolve the dirt.

For the Pro 95_Turbo Flexi model go back over the surface with the window cleaner to remove the dirt, without steaming. For a more abrasive action and more effective dirt removal, the bristles supplied with the window-cleaning accessory can be used For the Pro 85_Flexi model use the manual window-cleaning accessory to remove the dirt dissolved by the steam.

6.6 We recommend keeping a microfibre cloth close at hand

(Vaporetto Microfibre Cloths for manual use PAEU0231) to complete the cleaning operations and dry the dirt dissolved by steam.

7. CLEANING UPHOLSTERY

(mattresses, sofas, car interiors, etc.)

7.1 Make sure that section 1 has been followed and connect the

accessories as indicated in section 2.

7.2 Connect the small brush to the hose.

7.3 Attach the sockette to the small brush.

7.4 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the adjustment

knob (5); for this type of surface we recommend Minimum level of steam.

7.5 Ensure that the steam lock on the handle is deactivated

7.6 Press and hold the steam trigger on the handle of the

steam hose (6) and pass over the surface.

8.1 Ensure that section 1 has been followed.

8.2 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the

adjustment knob (5); for this type of surface we recommend Minimum level of steam.

8.3 Ensure that the steam lock on the handle is deactivated

8.4 Press and hold the steam lever on the handle of the steam

hose (6) and direct the jet onto a cloth (Vaporetto Microfibre Cloths for manual use PAEU0231).

8.5 Use the cloth previously steamed to clean the surface,

avoiding prolonged use on the same spot.

9. CLEANING BATHROOM FIXTURES,

GROUTING AND KITCHEN WORKTOPS

9.1 Make sure that section 1 has been followed and connect the

accessories as indicated in section 2.

9.2 Connect the concentrator accessory, equipped with bristly

round brush, to the hose. For the Pro 95_Turbo Flexi model the steam lance can be attached to the concentrator accessory. This is recommended for reaching the most difficult-to-reach areas, ideal for cleaning radiators, door and window frames, bathrooms and shutters.

WARNING: Before cleaning fabrics with steam, consult the

manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden area or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed area to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.

WARNING: To clean glass surfaces during cold weather,

preheat the windows starting to vacuum from a distance of about 50 cm from the surface. Before removing the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool.

WARNING: Before cleaning leather or fabrics with steam,

consult the manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden area or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.

WARNING: Do not direct the steam jet directly onto surfaces.

Before cleaning the surface, always do a test on a hidden area and see how it reacts to the application of steam. To connect the steam lance to the steam concentrator, simply screw it on. The same operation can be carried out for the brush, which can in turn be screwed onto the steam concentrator and onto the steam lance.ENGLISH | 24 |

9.3 Adjust the intensity of the steam by turning the

9.4 Ensure that the steam lock on the handle is deactivated

For this surface, set the steam to the minimum level

To care for your house plants, remove the dust from the leaves by steaming them directly from the handle. Adjust the steam to the minimum level and steam at a distance of 50 cm. Plants breathe better and will be cleaner and brighter. Furthermore, you can also use the steam to refresh spaces, especially those frequented by smokers.

The lack of water in the boiler is identified by the out-of-water light coming on ( ) (17). To resume use, simply: - switch off and disconnect the Vaporetto. - fill the tank as described in Section 1. - connect and turn the Vaporetto back on.

For the PRO 95_TURBO FLEXI model only When the TURBO function is active, the appliance adjusts to the ideal steam pressure to remove the most stubborn dirt. To activate the function, press the Turbo (18) button and wait for the “steam ready” indicator light ( ) to turn off. To deactivate the Turbo function, press the Turbo button again.

13. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Before carrying out any maintenance on the device, always unplug it from the power mains making sure that the product has cooled down before proceeding. To clean the outside of the appliance, use only a damp cloth and tap water. All accessories can be cleaned using running water, ensuring they are completely dry before the next use. Do not use detergents of any type. After using the brushes, we recommend letting the bristles cool down in their natural position, in order to avoid any deformation. Periodically check the status of the coloured seal located in the built-in socket and the connection seals of the extension tubes and the steam hose. If necessary, replace with the corresponding spare part, as described below.

Kalstop is the anti-limescale product for appliances with boiler for ironing and steam cleaning. Regular use of Kalstop, every time the tank is filled with water: - Extends the life of the appliance. - Allows emission of a “drier” steam - Prevents limescale build up. - Protects the walls of the boiler. - Contributes to saving energy.

14.1 Dilute one phial in 5 litres of water before putting it in the

15.1 Turn off the appliance and disconnect from the mains

15.2 Wait for the appliance to cool down completely before

body of the appliance, sliding the hook on the floor brush into the parking system on the appliance (19).

15.4 The extension tubes can be returned to the special tube

holder compartment (20).

15.5 The small accessories can be placed in the accessories

compartment. To open the compartment, press gently on the word “PUSH” (near the bottom of the lid), and open it (21).

Adjust the position of the dial for the desired increase. Release the steam lock on the steam hose handle. Steam is dispensed mixed with drops of water. The steam hoses are cold. Direct the steam jet onto a cloth until the tubes heats up. Loss of steam or drops of water between the connection of the accessories. The seals are damaged. Replace the seals, as indicated in Section 13. Accessories are difficult to assemble. The seals produce friction. The locking button is not in the cor- rect position. Lubricate the seals with silicone grease or Vaseline, or alternatively with a small amount of vegetable oil. Turn the locking button to the correct position as indicated in Section 2. The appliance releases too much water on the floor Steam adjustment dial set to the maximum. Reduce the quantity of steam to the minimum. If necessary, momentarily stop the disbursement of steam, while continuing to rub the surface. Should the problems persist, contact an Authorised Polti Service Centre (see www.polti.com for the up-to-date list) or Customer Services.ENGLISH | 26 | WARRANTY This appliance is for domestic use only and is guaranteed for two years from the date of purchase against any defects present at the time the goods are handed over; the date of purchase must be proven via a proof of purchase document valid for tax purposes and issued by the seller. For repairs, the appliance must be accompanied by proof of purchase. This warranty does not affect the consumer rights deriving from European Directive 99/44/EC as regards some aspects of sale and warranty of consumer goods, rights which the consumer should uphold against the seller. This warranty is valid in the countries which adhere to European Directive 99/44/EC. For other countries, local regulations on warranties apply.

WHAT THE WARRANTY COVERS

During the warranty period, Polti guarantees free repair of a product with a manufacturing or factory defect and, therefore, the consumer is not liable to pay for any work or materials. In case of irreparable defects, Polti may replace the product free of charge. To benefit from the warranty, the customer should visit a Polti Authorised Service Centre or contact Customer Services with proof of purchase from the seller valid for tax purposes and bearing the date of purchase of the product. Without proof of purchase and the relevant date of purchase, the work will be charged for. Store the proof of purchase document safely for the whole duration of the warranty period.

WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

  • Any fault or damage not deriving from a manufacturing defect.
  • Any fault due to improper use or use other than that indicated in the instruction booklet, an integral part of the product sales contract.
  • Any defect resulting from force majeure (fires, short circuits) or caused by third parties (tampering).
