How to fill the water tank of the Rowenta Ultrasteam DR6050?

Remove the water tank by pulling and lifting it backward (Fig.3). Remove the filling cap, fill to maximum level, then close the cap firmly (Fig.4-5). Replace the tank in the handle until it clicks (Fig.6).

What type of water to use in the Rowenta Ultrasteam DR6050 steam cleaner?

Use tap water. If your water is very hard, mix 50% tap water and 50% demineralized water. Never use 100% distilled or demineralized water, nor water with additives (starch, perfume, softener), battery water or condensation water.

How long does it take for the appliance to heat up?

After plugging in the appliance, the indicator light turns on. It turns off after approximately 50 seconds, indicating that the appliance has reached its operating temperature.

How to use the steam brush to iron a garment?

Hang the garment on a hanger. Hold the garment with one hand, the appliance with the other. Press the steam trigger with successive presses every 4 seconds while moving the appliance up and down. The steam and brush remove wrinkles. Never iron a garment while being worn.

How to descale the Rowenta Ultrasteam DR6050?

Fill the tank with white vinegar. Plug in the appliance and wait until it is hot. Over a sink, press the steam trigger intermittently until the tank is empty. Then rinse the tank, fill with clear water and repeat the operation to remove vinegar residue. Let cool for 15 minutes and wipe the steam head.

What to do if the appliance spits water?

Check that the appliance has heated up (wait 50 seconds). Use the correct type of water (tap or 50/50 mix). Make sure the dual voltage selector is set correctly. Press the trigger every 4 seconds, not more often.

Can I use the appliance on worn garments?

No, never iron a garment on the body. The steam is hot. Always hang the garment on a hanger and keep your hands away from the steam jet.

How to store the appliance after use?

Unplug the appliance and empty any remaining water from the tank. Wait 15 minutes for the steam head to cool. Place the appliance on its side or hang it by its storage hook. Wrap the cord loosely.

How to adjust the dual voltage on the Rowenta Ultrasteam DR6050?

Before plugging in the appliance, set the voltage selector located above the handle to the position corresponding to your country: 110-120 V for USA/Canada, 220-240 V for other countries. Never adjust the selector when the appliance is plugged in.

What to do if the appliance does not produce steam?

To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from steam vents, check appliance before each use by testing the steam trigger. Make sure you hold the latter away from body and children.

Use appliance for its intended use only.

This product has been designed for domestic use only. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.

To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Let appliance cool completely before storing away. Loop cord loosely around appliance when storing.

Do not direct steam at people, animals or iron clothes while they are being worn.

Never pull on the cord to unplug from outlet, instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

Always unplug appliance from electrical outlet when filling with water, emptying or when not in use.

To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15A rated cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may over-heat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that the cord cannot be pulled or tripped over.

Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or if appliance has been dropped or damaged.

To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble or attempt to repair the appliance. Take it to the nearest authorized Rowenta approved service center for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of fire or electric shock when the appliance is used.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children.

Do not leave appliance un-attended while plugged in or while it is still hot.

Burns could occur from touching hot parts, hot water or steam. Use care when you empty a steam appliance, there may be hot water in the tank or inside the appliance.

For use in the U.S.A., the voltage selector* switch should be placed in the 110-120 volt position. For use in several other countries, the voltage selector switch may need to be placed in the 220-240 volt position. Confirm the voltage available

at each location before using the appliance. For connection to a 220-240 volt supply, use a suitable attachment plug adapter of the proper configuration for the power supply receptacle.

For dual voltage* appliance:

a. Be sure dual voltage selector is in correct voltage position before operating.
b. Before plugging in, read the information about dual voltage operation contained in the instruction section of this manual.
c. This appliance was set at the factory to operate at 110-120 Volts.
Refer to operating instructions section of this manual for conversion to 220-240 Vol operation.
d. Incorrect setting of voltage can result in damage to the appliance.

Before use

Please read the instructions for use and Important Safeguards carefully.

• Remove any packaging from the appliance.
• Do not plug in or turn on until assembly is complete.

It is normal for a small amount of smoke to be produced the first time the appliance is used. This will quickly disappear.

Dual voltage

(depending on model)

- The appliance can work on both, 110-120V or 220-240V, AC systems. Be sure the dual voltage selector is in the correct voltage position before plugging in. To do this, switch the selector which is above the handle to the right position - fig.6 bis.

4. This is a 110-120V dual voltage appliance and may be used in the United States and abroad without an electrical converter. An adapter plug may be necessary when using appliance in foreign countries.

5. If needed, plug the steambrush into the correct adapter plug for the specific country and plug assembly into electrical outlet.

Warning! Never switch selector while unit is plugged in.

Dual voltage selector in wrong voltage position: If the voltage selector is set to 220-240V in a 110-120V supply, the performance of the steambrush will be reduced. Never set the voltage selector to 110-120V in a 220-240V supply as this can damage the product.

Filling with water

Warning! Never use 100% , distilled or demineralised water as this can cause the appliance to spit.

• Your steam brush has been designed to operate using untreated tap water. If your water is very hard (check with your local water authority) it is possible to mix tap water with store-bought distilled or demineralised water in the following proportions:
  -50% untreated tap water,
  -50% distilled or demineralised water.

Important: Heat concentrates the elements contained in water during evaporation.

• Remove the water tank by pulling it backwards - fig.3.
• Remove the stopper.
• Fill the watertank to the MAX level with water - fig.4 and close it securely. Make sure that the stopper is properly pushed in place - fig.5.
• Put the tank into the handle until it snaps in - fig.6.
• Completely unwind the power cord. Plug in your steam brush - fig.7.

USE

During use or while unit is heating or cooling, do not rest appliance on its head. Place product on its side on a stable, heat resistant, flat surface, as the head will be hot. As the appliance heats, the housing becomes warm. This is normal.

• Once the appliance is plugged in, the light is on - fig.8
  • After approximately 50 seconds, and when the light is off, it has reached working temperature.
• To begin steaming, press by successive pressures the steam trigger with the steam brush facing away from you, holding it in vertical position -fig.9.

Steaming clothes

Before removing or attaching the fabric brush, unplug your appliance and let it cool down.

The Ultra Steam is equipped with a fabric brush.

• To attach the accessory, line it up with the steam head. It locks into position with an audible click - fig.2/fig.11a.
• Simply pull on the top of the fabric brush to remove it - fig.11b. You can operate the unit with or without the accessory.
• Hang the creased article of clothing on a clothes hanger
• Pull the clothing tight with one hand. Your hand must be far enough from the steam brush to avoid burning it with the steam output. Place the appliance over the creased area, beginning at the top of the garment.

As steam is very hot: never attempt to remove creases from a garment while it is being worn, always hang garments on a clothes hanger. Always keep your hand far from the steam output.

• Gently press the fabric brush against the clothing and move the steam brush down the fabric. Press by successive pressures, every 4 seconds, the steam trigger fig.9.
• The combination of steam and brush will gently remove the creases.
  • After treatment, let the garment cool down on the hanger before wearing.
• Remove the fabric brush once unit is unplugged and completely cool. Remove it by pressing on the release tab on top of brush while pulling it forward.

Lint pad

The lint pad can not be used when attached to appliance.

Threads, lint and hair can easily be removed with the lint pad by brushing the

clothes slowly from left to right.

The pad can be cleaned by brushing in the opposite direction right to left on a piece of old cloth.

• Remove the lint pad from the steam brush by pulling it to the bottom -fig.10a.
• For storage, attach the lint pad to the steam brush. Gently push the top of the lint pad into place until it snaps in -fig.10b.

After use

Wait for 15 minutes until the steam head is completely cool.

- Unplug the appliance. Empty the water remaining in the tank and leave unit on its side to cool. After the appliance has cooled down, it may be stored thanks to the hanger hook.

Warning: never forget to unplug the steam brush and empty the tank after your working session. While not in use, you can hang your steambrush by its hook.

Cleaning/Descaling

- Clean the main unit with a damp cloth. - Your steam brush must be descaled occasionally if you notice the steam power is weak.

The time between descaling operations depends on the quality of the water and the frequency with which you use the appliance.

- To carry out an effective descaling operation, we advise you to :

1. Fill the water tank with white vinegar.

2. Plug the appliance and wait until it reaches the working temperature.

3. Above a sink, press the steam trigger. Wait for a few seconds. Press again the steam trigger.

4. Repeat the previous steps until the water tank is empty. The scale will be removed. Stay away from the steam output: there is a risk of particles spitting.

5. Important: It is necessary to clean the appliance to avoid spattering your clothes with vinegar residue. It is important to clean the water tank with water, then, to fill it again with fresh water.

6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the water tank is completely empty.

7. Unplug the steam brush. Wait 15 minutes until it is completely cool. Use a rag to wipe the scale marks that may appear on the steam head during descaling operation.

CAUTION: Risk of electric shock. Never immerse the steam head in water! The steam brush contains electric components that could be damaged by direct water.

	The steam trigger is pressed too frequently	Press by successive pressures, every 4 seconds, the steam trigger
Water leaks.	The water tank is not in place.	Be sure that the water tank snaps when put into place.
	The water is leaking from the stopper.	Check if the stopper is properly pushed in place and the tong is completely inserted in its cavity.
The steam leaves stains on the fabric.	You are using water with additives.	Never add any product in the water tank.
	The appliance had not been cleaned enough after the descaling operation.	Read carefully the Cleaning/Descaling part.
There is not enough power or too much	The dual voltage* is not set correctly.	Be sure the dual voltage selector is in correct voltage position before plugging. Unplug the appliance and switch the selector to the correct voltage.
