USER MANUAL HeatControl OASE

• This unit can be used by children aged 8  and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca- pabilities or lack of ex- perience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the unit in a safe way and they under- stand the hazards in- volved.

• Do not allow children to play with the unit.

• Only allow children to carry out cleaning and user maintenance un- der supervision.- EN -

• Never immerse the unit in water or other liq- uids.

• Switch off all units in the aquarium or dis- connect the power plugs of all units before reaching into the wa- ter.

• Disconnect the power plug before carrying out any work on the unit.

• If a power connection cable is damaged, have it immediately replaced by OASE, an authorised customer service or a qualified electrician to prevent electric shock. SAFETY INFORMATION

• Never operate the unit if either the electrical cables or the housing are defective!

• Do not carry or pull the unit by its electrical cable.

• Route cables/hoses such that they are pro- tected from damage and do not present a tripping hazard.

• Only open the unit housing or its attendant components, when this is explicitly required in the operating instructions.

• Only carry out work on the unit that is de- scribed in this manual. If problems cannot be overcome, please contact an authorised cus- tomer service point or, when in doubt, the manufacturer.

• Only use original spare parts and accessories for the unit.

• Never carry out technical modifications to the unit.

• Only connect the unit if the electrical data of the unit and the power supply coincide. The unit data is to be found on the unit type plate, on the packaging or in this manual.- EN -

• Only use heaters that are approved for use aquariums. Suitable heaters meet the re- quirements in accordance with EN 60335-2-

• Protect the plug connections from moisture.

• Only plug the unit into a correctly fitted socket. Symbols used in these instructions NOTE Indicates information intended to give the user a better understanding. Additional information A Reference to a figure, e.g. Fig. A.

• Reference to another section. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Intended use HeatControl, referred to in the following as "unit", may only be used as specified in the fol- lowing:

• As a thermostat for monitoring and control- ling an aquarium or terrarium heater.

• Operation under observance of the technical data. The following restrictions apply to the unit:

• Only use indoors and for aquaristic purposes in the home (not for commercial use).

• Only operate with water at a water tempera- ture of +4 °C to +35 °C. Recommendation:

• Ideally in combination with the heat cable OASE HeatUp Basis. COMMISSIONING/START-UP Set-up the unit

• Hang the unit on a nail or hook (not included in the delivery scope) on the wall near the tank.

• Use the mounting hole for mounting.

• Ensure that it is not possible for the unit to fall into the water.

• Twist the provided suction cups into the at- tendant clips.

• Fit the supplied suction cups with a twisting movement. – The suction cups adhere to clean, smooth surfaces.- EN -

Connect the unit When routing all the cables out of an aquarium, ensure that each cable forms a separate drip loop. How to proceed:

1. Position the heater in the tank. Adhere to the

manufacturer's instructions for use!

2. Insert the power plug of the heater into the

power socket of the thermostat.

3. Fasten the suction cup to the side of the tank

such that the inserted temperature probe does not come into contact with the heater.

4. Insert the power plug of the thermostat into

the mains socket and program the unit.

• Ambient temperature: When the power plug is connected, the display will indicate the am- bient temperature measured by the temper- ature probe in degrees Celsius, e.g. 21.5. The display will flash and then stay continuously lit.

• Target temperature default setting: A tem- perature of 25 °C is set in the factory for the heater to be connected.

• Changing the target temperature: When the plus or minus button is pressed, the saved tar- get temperature is displayed and increased or- EN -

decreased by 0.5 if the button is pressed re- peatedly. The respective value is saved imme- diately and the heater controlled accordingly. Press the button repeatedly until the desired target temperature is displayed. NOTE

• If there is an integrated thermostat in the heater, it must be set to a higher value than that programmed in the HeatControl ther- mostat in order for the programmed temper- ature setting to become effective.

• If a thermo-control heater is connected, it should be set to the highest value.

• When the thermostat is connected and the connected heater is operating, a small red dot flashes in the display.

WEAR PARTS The following components are wear parts and are excluded from the warranty:

• Suction cup DISPOSAL NOTE Do not dispose of this unit with domestic waste.

• Render the unit unusable beforehand by cut- ting the cables and dispose of the unit via the return system provided for this purpose. GUARANTEE For this OASE unit purchased by you, OASE GmbH assumes a 36 month manufacturer's guarantee in accordance with the guarantee conditions laid down in the following. The guar- antee period starts with the first purchase from an OASE specialist dealer. In other words, in the event of a resale, the guarantee period will not start again. If services are provided under the terms of this guarantee, this does not lead to ex- tension or renewal of the guarantee period. Your legal rights as a purchaser, especially those ensu- ing from the warranty, persist. They are not re- stricted by this guarantee. Guarantee conditions OASE GmbH guarantees impeccable, purpose- related properties and workmanship, expert as- sembly and proper functionality. Subject to our discretion, the guarantee refers to free-of- charge repair or free-of-charge supply of spare parts or of a replacement unit respectively.- FR -

Should the unit type concerned no longer be manufactured, we reserve the right, at our dis- cretion, to supply a replacement unit from our range that is closest to the type subject to com- plaint. Claims, the origin of which can be traced back to installation and operating faults as well as lack of care, e.g. the use of unsuitable cleaning materials or negligent maintenance, use other than that intended, damage due to accidents, falls, impact, effect of frost, cutting plugs, short- ening cables, calcium deposits or improper at- tempts to repair the unit, are not covered by our guarantee. We hereby refer to the proper use as specified in the instructions of use that form an integral part of the guarantee. Wear parts such as bulbs etc. are exempted from the guarantee. The refund of costs for removal and installation, checks, claims for lost profit and damages are ex- empted from the guarantee together with fur- ther reaching claims for damages and loss of whatever nature caused by the unit or its use. The guarantee is only valid in the country in which the unit was purchased from an OASE dealer. This guarantee is governed by German law under the exclusion of the agreement of the United Nations covering contracts governing the international sale of goods (CISG) regulations. Guarantee claims can only be brought forward by presenting the sales receipt to us, OASE GmbH, Tecklenburger Straße 161 in D-48477 Hörstel, Germany by returning to us the unit or part of the unit subject to complaint, freight free, at your own risk, accompanied by a copy of the original purchase receipt from the OASE special- ist dealer, this guarantee document and written information of the fault encountered.
