Frequently Asked Questions - CDAP4500 Guardian

How to replace the filter of the Guardian CDAP4500?
Turn off and unplug the device. Press the lock/unlock button and remove the back cover. Remove the old combined filter (Filter B), insert the new one following the arrow direction, then close the cover. Reset the replacement indicator by holding the timer button for 5 seconds.
When to replace the UV-C tube?
The UV indicator flashes on the control panel to indicate it's time to replace the UV-C tube. To replace it, unplug the device, remove the back cover and filter, unscrew the metal protector, then grasp the tube with a clean cloth and pull to remove. Insert the new tube (ref. LB4000) horizontally. Reset the indicator by holding the UV button for 3 seconds.
How to connect the purifier to Wi-Fi?
Download the Guardian Technologies app from the App Store or Google Play. Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi. On the purifier, press and hold the CONNECT button until the light flashes green. Follow the instructions in the app to complete the connection. Bluetooth range is used for short distance, then Wi-Fi takes over.
What does the color of the light ring on the purifier mean?
The light ring is the air quality indicator (AQM). Green (0-100): good. Yellow (101-200): moderate. Red (201+): poor. In automatic mode, the fan speed adjusts automatically based on this measurement.
Why does the device turn off by itself?
This may be due to a faulty outlet, improperly installed filter, or back cover not locked properly. Check that the device is properly plugged in, the filter is in place, and the cover is correctly closed. If the problem persists, contact customer service at 1.866.603.5900.
How to clean the pre-filter of the CDAP4500?
Gently vacuum the activated carbon layer (pre-filter) to remove debris and dust. Do not wash the filter. If the main filter (pleated) is gray and dirty, replace it. Regular maintenance extends the life of the filter.
What is the recommended coverage area?
The Guardian CDAP4500 is designed for a closed room up to 11.5 m². For best performance, keep doors and windows closed.
Can I use the purifier in a child's room?

Clean Air Delivery Rate

From air cleaner to air cleaner, compare the CADR numbers. First look at suggested room size. Then refer to the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) numbers. The higher the number, the faster the unit filters the air.

This air cleaner is suggested for use in a single, closed room up to 124 square feet. Higher CADR rates provide improved performance in all room sizes. Portable air cleaners will be much more effective in rooms when all the doors and windows are closed.

TOBACCO SMOKE: 80+

This value represents performance that can be expected within the first 72 hours of operation. Subsequent use may vary with use.

Tested per ANSI/AHAM AC-1 National Standard

What is CADR?

CADR stands for "Clean Air Delivery Rate," which indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by an air purifier. CADR ratings show the effectiveness of how efficient the air purifier is at capturing fine particles from things like tobacco smoke and plant pollens from the room.
