Frequently Asked Questions - Alpha3 Grundfos

How to install the Alpha3 pump?

Installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. The pump is mounted on the return of the heating circuit, with the shaft in horizontal position. Observe the flow direction indicated by the arrow on the body.

What is the compatibility of the Alpha3 with existing heating systems?

The Alpha3 is designed for heating and domestic hot water circuits. It directly replaces old Grundfos circulators and fits most installations (radiators, underfloor heating).

How to adjust the pump speed?

Use the adjustment button on the terminal block. Three fixed speeds are available (I, II, III) or AUTOADAPT mode which automatically adjusts power according to needs.

What to do if the pump makes noise?

Abnormal noise may come from air in the circuit. Bleed the system by opening the bleeder valves. Also check that the pump is not clogged with impurities. If the noise persists, contact a professional.

How to save energy with the Alpha3?

Use AUTOADAPT mode which modulates power according to heat demand. You can also program time slots via an external controller. The pump consumes 6 to 60 W depending on setting.

How to bleed air from the pump?

The Alpha3 is equipped with an automatic air vent. For manual bleeding, slightly open the bleed cap on top of the motor while the pump runs at maximum speed. Close as soon as water flows without bubbles.

Is the pump protected against blocking?

Yes, the anti-blocking function automatically starts the pump every 24 hours for 10 seconds to prevent seizing during inactivity.

What is the lifespan of the Alpha3?

The average lifespan is 10 to 15 years under normal operating conditions. Regular maintenance (cleaning, checking seals) can extend its longevity.

What to do in case of error code displayed?
