How to descale my Efbe-Schott SC WK 1080.1 kettle?

Use a commercial descaling product or white vinegar. First fill the kettle with water, add the descaling agent, then heat. Follow the indicated dosages (for vinegar, 2 to 3 ml maximum). After descaling, rinse twice with clean water.

What to do if my kettle does not turn on?

Check that the kettle is properly placed on its base and the cord is plugged in. If it still does not turn on, the overheat protection may have been triggered (dry boiling). Unplug the appliance, wait 10 minutes, then fill with cold water before trying again.

Can I use the kettle without water?

No, never operate the kettle empty. It is equipped with overheat protection that will shut it off automatically, but this can damage the appliance. If it happens, unplug it and wait 10 minutes before filling.

How to clean the outside of the kettle?

Unplug the kettle and let it cool. Clean the plastic parts with a soft, damp cloth. Never use abrasive products. Never immerse the kettle or its base in water.

The lid does not close properly, what to do?

Make sure the lid is properly locked by pushing until you hear a click. If the problem persists, check that no object is obstructing the closure. If the lid is damaged, contact customer service.

The water boils slower than before, is this normal?

This may be due to limescale buildup. Perform a descaling of the kettle as indicated in the manual. If the problem persists, check that the voltage is correct and the base is properly connected.

Can I plug the kettle into a power strip?

It is recommended to plug the kettle directly into a wall outlet to avoid overloading. Do not use an extension cord or power strip, as this could pose a fire hazard.

How to open the lid?

Press the unlock button on the handle to open the lid. Make sure the kettle is unplugged and cool before opening.

What is the maximum water capacity?

The maximum capacity is indicated by the 'MAX' mark on the water level window. Never exceed this level. The 'MIN' mark indicates the minimum level for safe operation.

The kettle turns off by itself, is this normal?

Yes, the kettle automatically turns off when the water boils. You can also stop it manually at any time by pressing the stop button. If it turns off before boiling, check the water level or limescale buildup.

  ☐ In case you have overfilled, the appliance might overboil and boiling water might spout out of the appliance.
  ☐ Be careful not to get burned by the hot steam that evaporates when the water is boiling and especially when you open the lid.

- When descaling, use a product specifically made for that purpose that you find in the shops. Do not use ammonia or any other substance that could damage your health.

☐ Your appliance must never be switched on through an external timer or any kind of separate remote control system.

BEFORE THE FIRST OPERATION

For the perfect taste, operate the jug kettle with fresh water in order to clean any residue left from the manufacturing process. When the appliance has cooled down, repeat the process 3 times with fresh water, before rinsing.

OPERATION

• Always remove the jug from the power base before filling it or before any operation.
- Open the lid by pressing its release button and fill the tank with fresh water, paying attention not to fill under the minimum mark and above the maximum mark on the water level indicator. Close the lid by pressing it down until you hear a click. Make sure it closes correctly.
- Put the jug onto the power base, plug into the wall socket and switch on by pressing down the switch on the handle.
- The jug kettle will switch off automatically when the water has boiled. However, you can stop the jug kettle anytime pressing upwards its switch.
- If you take the jug from the power base when it is switched on, the appliance switches off automatically. When putting the jug back onto the power base, switch it on again.

SAFETY CUT-OUT

- This jug kettle is protected with an automatic safety device which switches the appliance off if it is accidentally switched on without water.

• In this case, switch off the appliance and wait about 10 minutes for the element to cool. Then fill the jug kettle with cold water. This will reset the safety device. The kettle may then be used as normal.
• Should the problem persist, contact the nearest customer service.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down.
• To clean the exterior surfaces, simply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Residues on the interior surfaces can be removed with a soft brush.
• Never use abrasive products.
• On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water and do not clean it under running water.

DESCALING

When scale becomes visible in the jug, you have to descale it. To remove scale from the jug kettle, use products made especially available for this purpose, liquid descaling products or for the sake of environmental protection you can use vinegar.

When descaling, please pay attention to the following points:

• First pour some water in the appliance, and add the descaling product afterwards.
- Make sure to dilute the product sufficiently. Please follow the instruction manual of the descaling product.
- When using vinegar, do not use more than 2-3 ml.
- Caution, the mixture might froth during heating.
• After descaling, rinse the appliance twice with fresh water.

The user has the right to bring it free of charge to a municipal collection point performing waste recovery by means of reuse, recycling or use for other applications in accordance with the directive.

TERMS OF GUARANTEE

For our products, the legal terms concerning claims under guarantee are valid. During the legal period, all material and manufacturing defects are covered. No claims will be accepted for broken accessories, defects resulting from inappropriate use or care, excessive wear due to intensive use, wrong use due to the non-observance of the instruction manual, or normal wear and tear. No guarantee claims will be accepted if the appliance has been modified or if attempts have been made to repair the appliance. In such case, the vendor cannot be held responsible in case of accidents.

If you detect a defect, please contact your vendor or shop and return your complete appliance in its original packaging together with the receipt. Claims under guarantee will only be valid if the receipt or a copy of a repair bill is handed over with the appliance that needs repair.

Or send the appliance cleaned, well packed and with a short, easily readable description of the default as well as the receipt freight prepaid to our customer service in our firm in Bad Blankenburg.

In case of a defective accessory, the complete appliance will not be exchanged, but only the accessory will be sent free of charge. In such case, do not return the complete appliance but only order the accessory! In case of glass damages, glass spare parts will be charged. Pieces undergoing wear and tear as well as cleaning and maintenance or the exchange of worn out pieces are not covered by the guarantee and will thus be charged!

AFTER THE LEGAL PERIOD OF GUARANTEE

Repairs after the guarantee period can be performed at a charge by a competent qualified technician or a repair service.
