IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance. Important: This appliance can be used by children over 8 years old and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or with a lack of experience or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and the risks involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment. Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance. Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it. Stand the appliance on a table or flat surface. Before cleaning, always unplug the appliance from the power supply. Always let the appliance cool down before cleaning or filling it again. Unplug the appliance when not in use. Make sure the hot parts of the appliance never come into contact with inflammable materials, such as curtains, cloth, etc... when it is in use, as a fire might occur. Do not put the appliance on hot surfaces or near open gas flames as the casing might melt. Only use fresh (potable) and cold (moderate) water. Do not use water contained in bathtubs, washbasins or other recipients. Always fill between the minimum and maximum marks. The water must never be below the minimum mark or the heating element might be damaged. When using, make sure the lid is closed correctly. Never raise the lid when the jug kettle is in use and when there are risks of hot water projection due to the bubbling. Do not touch the hot parts of the appliance. Always use the handle. In case you have overfilled, the appliance might overboil and boiling water might spout out of the appliance. Be careful not to get burned by the hot steam that evaporates when the water is boiling and especially when you open the lid. Copies of the I/B. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 When descaling, use a product specifically made for that purpose that you find in the shops. Do not use ammonia or any other substance that could damage your health. If your appliance has a separate base, it can only be used with the appropriate base. Your appliance must never be switched on through an external timer or any kind of separate remote control system.
Competent qualified electrician: after sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In any case you should return the appliance to this electrician.
FIELD OF APPLICATION/OF OPERATION
Use the appliance for domestic purposes only and in the way indicated in these instructions. This appliance is intended to be used for domestic applications and similar applications such as: Kitchen corners reserved for personnel in shops, offices and other professional environments. Farms. The use by clients of hotels, motels and other environments with a residential character. Environments of the “bed and breakfast” type.
BEFORE THE FIRST OPERATION
For the perfect taste, operate the jug kettle with fresh water in order to clean any residue left from the manufacturing process. When the appliance has cooled down, repeat the process 3 times with fresh water, before rinsing. OPERATION Always remove the jug from the power base before filling it or before any operation. Open the lid by pressing its release button and fill the tank with fresh water, paying attention not to fill under the minimum mark and above the maximum mark on the water level indicator. Close the lid by pressing it down until you hear a click. Make sure it closes correctly. Put the jug onto the power base, plug into the wall socket and switch on by pressing down the switch on the handle. The jug kettle will switch off automatically when the water has boiled. However, you can stop the jug kettle anytime pressing upwards its switch. If you take the jug from the power base when it is switched on, the appliance switches off automatically. When putting the jug back onto the power base, switch it on again. SAFETY CUT-OUT This jug kettle is protected with an automatic safety device which switches the appliance off if it is accidentally switched on without water. Copies of the I/B. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 In this case, switch off the appliance and wait about 10 minutes for the element to cool. Then fill the jug kettle with cold water. This will reset the safety device. The kettle may then be used as normal. Should the problem persist, contact the nearest customer service.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down. To clean the exterior surfaces, simply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Residues on the interior surfaces can be removed with a soft brush. Never use abrasive products. On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water and do not clean it under running water. DESCALING When scale becomes visible in the jug, you have to descale it. To remove scale from the jug kettle, use products made especially available for this purpose, liquid descaling products or for the sake of environmental protection you can use vinegar. When descaling, please pay attention to the following points: First pour some water in the appliance, and add the descaling product afterwards. Make sure to dilute the product sufficiently. Please follow the instruction manual of the descaling product. When using vinegar, do not use more than 2-3 ml. Caution, the mixture might froth during heating. After descaling, rinse the appliance twice with fresh water.

For this reason, as indicated by the symbol on the rating label or on the packaging, your appliance should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. The user has the right to bring it free of charge to a municipal collection point performing waste recovery by means of reuse, recycling or use for other applications in accordance with the directive.
For our products, the legal terms concerning claims under guarantee are valid. During the legal period, all material and manufacturing defects are covered. No claims will be accepted for broken accessories, defects resulting from inappropriate use or care, excessive wear due to intensive use, wrong use due to the non-observance of the instruction manual, or normal wear and tear. No guarantee claims will be accepted if the appliance has been modified or if attempts have been made to repair the appliance. In such case, the vendor cannot be held responsible in case of accidents. If you detect a defect, please contact your vendor or shop and return your complete appliance in its original packaging together with the receipt. Or send the appliance cleaned, well packed and with a short, easily readable description of the default as well as the receipt freight prepaid to our customer service in our firm in Bad Blankenburg. In case of a defective accessory, the complete appliance will not be exchanged, but only the accessory will be sent free of charge. In such case, do not return the complete appliance but only order the accessory! In case of glass damages, glass spare parts will be charged. Pieces undergoing wear and tear as well as cleaning and maintenance or the exchange of worn out pieces are not covered by the guarantee and will thus be charged!
AFTER THE LEGAL PERIOD OF GUARANTEE
Repairs after the guarantee period can be performed at a charge by a competent qualified technician or a repair service.
