USER MANUAL WK 810 Efbe-Schott
Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance.
Important: People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliance except if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they previously received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance. Close supervision is necessary to prevent children from using the appliance as a toy.
☐ Acquaint yourself with the instruction manual before taking your appliance into operation. If you hand over the appliance to another user, please make sure to hand over the instruction manual as well.
☐ Intended use: This appliance is intended to boil water in private households. It is not intended for commercial use. Only use the appliance in the way indicated in these instructions and respect all safety instructions.
□ Caution! Do not use the appliance when:
- it shows malfunctions.
- it has fallen and/or shows visible damage to the housing or the power cord.
Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician (*) in order to avoid the hazards of electric shock. All repairs should be made by a competent qualified electrician (*).
☐ Inform your children about the dangers that are related to electrical appliances:
- Danger because of electric current.
- Danger because of hot components and hot steam that escapes when the appliance is in use.
☐ Choose the standing place of your appliance in such a way that children and people who are not able to use electrical appliances in a safe way, do not have access to the appliance.
☐ Use and store the appliance exclusively out of the reach of children. The power cord has to be out of reach of children as well, as they could use it to pull down the appliance.
☐ For safety reasons do not leave any packaging material (plastic bag, cardboard, polystyrene, etc.) accessible for children. They should never play with the plastic bag, as there is danger of suffocation!
☐ Caution: Risk of electric shock! Power cord and plug must never come in contact with water or other liquids.
- Never use the appliance outside.
- Never immerse the appliance or the power cord in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever.
- Do not use the appliance near a washbasin or sink.
- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands.
- Do not put the appliance on a humid underground.

□ Always pull the plug to unplug the appliance, never pull the cord to avoid damages.
☐ Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it. From time to time check the cord for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage.

(1) Competent qualified electrician: after-sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In case of need you should return the appliance to this electrician.
Positioning and connecting
- To avoid accidents and damages, always put the appliance on a level, dry and slip-proof surface which is insensitive to heat and water splashes.
- Never put the appliance on a hotplate or close to a hot oven.
- Connect the appliance only to a wall socket that has been installed according to regulations. Check that your mains voltage corresponds to the technical data of the appliance. If necessary, use a proper extension cord, and make sure the technical data correspond to those of the appliance.
- Your appliance must never be switched on through an external timer or any kind of separate remote control system, or be connected with an electric circuit that is switched on and off regularly by a device.
- The electric water jug can only be used with the foreseen support.
- Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Make sure the cord never comes into contact with the hot parts of the appliance. Make sure the cord never comes into contact with moisture or humidity to avoid danger of electrocution.
- To ensure a major security, it is recommended to set up a current flight jump of 30mA in the electric circuit that supplies the household. Ask your electrician for advice.
Before the first use
- Remove all packaging material and protective foils.
- Before boiling water with the appliance for the first time, we recommend cleaning the appliance by boiling water several times and rinsing the appliance afterwards.
Use
- Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.
- To fill the jug with water always remove it from the base station. Make sure that no water runs down the appliance on the outside, it could penetrate into the inner part of the appliance and damage the electric parts.
- Please note: Do not operate the electric water jug with too much or too little water. The water level must always be between the MIN and MAX marks on the water level scale. When you overfill the appliance, there is a risk of burning because of overflowing or spouting boiling water.
- Watch out! Danger of burning! The appliance becomes very hot during use! In order to avoid risks of burning, use the thermally insulated slider on the lid to open and close the lid. Never touch the hot lid or housing. Be careful as very hot steam escapes when the water is boiling!
- During the operation of electrical heating appliances, high temperatures arise – due to boiling water, hot steam and a hot housing and lid – which may lead to injuries. Take the hot electric water jug by its handle only. As long as the appliance is in operation and boils water, do not open the lid in order to avoid scalding!
- Caution! Never heat the appliance without water or with an open lid! Otherwise there is a danger of overheating and escape of hot steam.
- When the appliance is in operation, there should be no materials that are sensitive to heat or steam in the immediate surroundings! Keep a sufficient safety distance to walls, furniture, etc.

- Make sure the cord never comes into contact with the hot parts of the appliance (such as the metal housing).
- Do not move the appliance when it is in hot condition. Let it cool down sufficiently before cleaning and storing it.
- Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment. The appliance is not intended for outdoor use. Air humidity and weather effects may damage the appliance.
- Only prepare water with this appliance, it is not intended to cook foodstuffs.
- Always keep the appliance clean and do not let water in the jug when you store the appliance in order to avoid calcification.
Cleaning and storage
- Unplug the appliance before cleaning.
- Let the appliance cool down before cleaning or storing it.
- Wait to wind up the power cord until the appliance has cooled down completely.
- Do not use any abrasive or aggressive detergents for cleaning.
- Do not use any pointed, sharp or abrasive cleaning devices in order to protect the stainless steel surface. Never use metal objects (pan scourer, fork, knife etc.) for cleaning.
- Never immerse the base station, electric water jug, power cord and plug in water or any other liquid and make sure that they do not come in contact with water. The electric parts inside can get damaged. Penetration of water into electrical appliances leads to damages such as short circuit.

BEFORE THE FIRST OPERATION
Watch out! Danger of burning! Escape of hot steam! The appliance becomes very hot during use!
- Remove all packaging material before the first use.
- Unroll the power cord completely.
- Put the appliance on a heat-proof, dry, slip-proof and level surface.
- Clean the electric water jug before the first use with a slightly damp cloth and boil some water to remove any manufacturing residues (see chapter „Boiling water“). Then rinse the electric water jug thoroughly.
BOILING WATER
Watch out! Danger of burning! Escape of hot steam! The appliance becomes very hot during use! When handling hot liquids there is a danger of burning and scalding! Only touch the hot water jug by the handle or the plastic parts. Do not open the lid when the appliance is in operation!
Only use the electric water jug with the foreseen support.
• To fill the jug with water always remove it from the base station.
- Pull the release button backwards to open the lid. Make sure that no hot water or hot steam escapes in order to avoid wounds by scalding.

- Fill the water jug with fresh water. Always fill between the MAX and MIN marks of the water level scale on the outside of the water jug.
- Close the lid firmly until it clicks into place. The automatic cutoff can only function with a properly closed lid.
- Put the water jug on the base station and switch on the appliance, by pressing the on/off switch in position „I“ (ON).
- The electric water jug switches off automatically a few seconds after the water has started to boil. You can switch it off manually at any time by pressing the on/off switch.
- If you want to bring the water to the boil again, switch the appliance back on with the on/off switch.
- The appliance is protected by a boil-dry protection system. It switches off the heating function of the electric water jug when it is accidentally switched on without water or with not enough water. Caution! This does not switch off the appliance completely. It switches back on, when it has cooled down. So do not switch on the appliance without water!
- Unplug the appliance after use.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Caution! Before cleaning or transport, unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
Watch out! Risk of electric shock! Never immerse the electric water jug, the base station, the power cord or the plug in water.
- Wipe the outside of the electric water jug on occasion with a slightly damp cloth and when necessary with some household detergent.
- Never use sharp or pointed utensils to clean the appliance in order to avoid scratches and damages.
- If calcium deposits would occur in areas with water with a high degree of hardness, these can be removed with commercially available decalcifying agents.
DESCALING
Descale your appliance regularly, depending on the degree of hardness of the water in your region, and at least once a month. Use liquid products made especially available for this purpose. Make sure to use a type recommended for plastic kettles and follow the product's instruction manual carefully.
Removing calcium deposits is a cleaning task and is not covered by the guarantee. The guarantee covers manufacturing and material defects.

implication of both suppliers and users. For this reason, as indicated by the symbol on the rating label or on the packaging, your appliance should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. The user has the right to bring it free of charge to a municipal collection point performing waste recovery by means of reuse, recycling or use for other applications in accordance with the directive.
TERMS OF GUARANTEE
For our products, the legal terms concerning claims under guarantee are valid. During the legal period, all material and manufacturing defects are covered. No claims will be accepted for broken accessories, defects resulting from inappropriate use or care, excessive wear due to intensive use, wrong use due to the non-observance of the instruction manual, or normal wear and tear. No guarantee claims will be accepted if the appliance has been modified or if attempts have been made to repair the appliance. In such case, the vendor cannot be held responsible in case of accidents.
If you detect a defect, please contact your vendor or shop and return your complete appliance in its original packaging together with the receipt. Claims under guarantee will only be valid if the receipt or a copy of a repair bill is handed over with the appliance that needs repair.
Or send the appliance cleaned, well packed and with a short, easily readable description of the default as well as the receipt freight prepaid to our customer service in our firm in Bad Blankenburg.
In case of a defective accessory, the complete appliance will not be exchanged, but only the accessory will be sent free of charge. In such case, do not return the complete appliance but only order the accessory! In case of glass damages, glass spare parts will be charged. Pieces undergoing wear and tear as well as cleaning and maintenance or the exchange of worn out pieces are not covered by the guarantee and will thus be charged!
AFTER THE LEGAL PERIOD OF GUARANTEE
Repairs after the guarantee period can be performed at a charge by a competent qualified technician or a repair service.
