How to use the Buffalo GL349 kettle?

Fill the kettle at least half full, set the thermostat to the desired temperature (1 to 5 or HIGH) and turn the switch to On. The heating indicator lights up. To serve, pull the faucet towards you.

What to do if the kettle does not heat up?

Check that the appliance is plugged in and turned on. If the power indicator is off, the thermal circuit breaker may have tripped. Let it cool down, empty the appliance, then press the reset button located under the appliance.

How to clean the kettle?

Turn off and unplug the appliance. Clean the outside with a damp cloth and mild soap. Never immerse the appliance. For the inside, perform regular descaling.

How often to descale the kettle?

Buffalo recommends descaling every three months, or more frequently if the water is very hard. Use a suitable descaler and follow the instructions on the package.

How to adjust the water temperature?

Turn the temperature control knob to the desired position: 1 (39°C), 2 (50°C), 3 (62°C), 4 (76°C), 5 (90°C) or HIGH (100°C). The heating indicator lights up and turns off when the temperature is reached.

The kettle heats continuously, is that normal?

If the thermostat is set to HIGH (100°C) or a temperature close to it, the appliance heats continuously to keep the water boiling. Lower the temperature or turn off the appliance if you do not want constant boiling.

What to do if the faucet leaks?

Tighten the faucet handle. If the leak persists, contact a qualified technician.

Can I use the kettle without water?

No, never operate the kettle empty. Fill it at least one third to avoid damaging the heating element.

Where to find spare parts for the GL349?

Contact an authorized Buffalo dealer or a qualified technician. Repairs must be carried out by a professional.

How to reset the thermal circuit breaker?

Empty the appliance and let it cool down. Locate the reset button under the appliance, press until it clicks. Make sure the appliance is empty and cool before resetting.

Introduction

BUFFALO prides itself on quality and service, ensuring that at the time of packaging the contents are supplied fully functional and free of damage.

Should you find any damage as a result of transit, please contact your BUFFALO dealer immediately.

Operation

1. Remove the appliance from the packaging. Make sure that all protective plastic film and plastic coatings are thoroughly removed from all surfaces.

Note: Before using for the first time, clean the interior of the appliance and all parts in warm soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.

1. Ensure the Temperature Control knob is set to '0' and tthe power switch is 'Off'.
2. Remove the lid and fill the appliance to at least half of its capacity.
3. Replace the lid.
4. Connect to the mains power supply and turn the power switch On. The Power Indicator light illuminates.
5. Set the Temperature Control knob to the required temperature. The Heat Indicator illuminates and the appliance heats the water.

WARNING: Reduce the set temperature if the the water begins to boil. DO NOT allow the water to boil constantly.

1. When the water has reached the set temperature the Heat Indicator light turns Off.

Note: Once the water temperature drops 5-10°C then the appliance will reheat the water.

WARNING: If the Temperature Control Knob is set to or close to '100' then the appliance will constantly heat the water until the power switch is turned Off or the temperature is reduced.

Thermal Cut-Out Reset

This appliance is fitted with a Thermal Cut-Out safety feature. Should the temperature exceed safe levels the appliance will automatically cut power.

The Safety Cut-out switch is located on the underside of the appliance. To reset the appliance:

1. Empty the appliance and allow to cool.
2. Press the reset button until it clicks.

WARNING: Ensure the appliance has cooled down and is empty before resetting the switch, as it may need to be tipped slightly to gain access to the switch.

1. The appliance is now reset and can be used as normal.

Serving

1. Place a suitable vessel beneath the tap.
2. Pull the tap towards you to begin pouring.
3. Raise the tap handle to close the tap.

Emptying the Appliance

Drain the appliance by using the tap to empty.

Cleaning, Care & Maintenance

• Always turn off and disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning.
• Use soapy water and a damp cloth to clean the exterior of the appliance.
  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning.

Descaling

In hard water areas lime scale can build up within the appliance after prolonged use. To descale the appliance:

1. Pour a solution of descaler and water into the appliance.
2. Brush the interior gently with a soft bristled brush.
3. Discard the solution collected in the jug.
4. Fill the appliance with clean water and turn back On to flush out the system.

Flush out the system thoroughly to remove any descaler residue.

1. The appliance is now ready for use.

Note: Use a suitable descaler and always follow the instructions on the container.

BUFFALO recommend that this appliance is descaled every 3 months or more frequently in hard water areas.

Electrical Wiring

This appliance is supplied with a 3 pin, moulded, BS1363 plug and lead, with a 13 amp fuse as standard.

The plug is to be connected to a suitable mains socket.

This appliance is wired as follows:

• Live wire (coloured brown) to terminal marked L
- Neutral wire (coloured blue) to terminal marked N
- Earth wire (coloured green/yellow) to terminal marked E

This appliance must be earthed, using a dedicated earthing circuit.

If in doubt consult a qualified electrician.
