How to configure the Wi-Fi network on the PG L2540 printer?
Go to the Wi-Fi Settings menu from the control panel. Use the Wi-Fi configuration tool included on the DVD or connect via Wi-Fi Direct. Follow the wizard's instructions to enter your access point settings.
How to replace the toner cartridge?
Open the front cover, remove the used cartridge by pressing the release button. Insert the new cartridge until it clicks into place. Close the cover. Use only original Olivetti cartridges to avoid damage.
What to do in case of paper jam?
Check the screen to locate the jam. Open the front or rear cover, carefully remove the jammed paper following the guides. For jams in the trays, remove the tray and take out the paper. Refer to the Troubleshooting chapter in the manual.
How to print automatically on both sides?
In your software's print settings, select the 2-sided option (or print on both sides). Make sure the printer driver is properly installed. The default duplex mode can be configured in the Print Settings menu of the machine.
The printer does not respond, what to check?
Check that the power cord is plugged in and the power switch is on. Ensure the network or USB cable is connected. Check the screen for error messages. Restart the printer via the Administrator > Restart Printer menu.
How to activate energy-saving mode?
The automatic sleep mode activates by default after 1 minute of inactivity. You can adjust the timer in the menu Common device > Timer > Sleep timer. For a deeper sleep level, configure Sleep level settings with the administrator password.
Can I print from a USB flash drive?
Yes, plug the USB flash drive into the slot on the front of the printer. Use the control panel to select USB Memory then Print file. Choose the file and copies. Supported formats are PDF, TIFF, JPEG, etc.
How to reset the administrator password?
The default administrator password is 4000. If you have forgotten it, contact Olivetti technical support. Reset requires a special procedure described in the service manual.
What types of paper can I use?
The printer accepts standard paper from 60 to 220 g/m². Use recycled paper, envelopes, labels, or transparencies in the by-pass tray. Avoid curled or damp paper. Refer to the Special paper chapter in the appendix.
How to clean the interior of the printer?
Turn off the printer and unplug it. Open the front cover. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the rollers and accessible areas. Do not touch the fuser unit (hot). Refer to the Routine maintenance section for details.

1. Safety of laser beam

This machine has been certified by the manufacturer to Class 1 level under the radiation performance standards established by the U.S.DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) in 1968. This indicates that the product is safe to use during normal operation and maintenance. The laser optical system, enclosed in a protective housing and sealed within the external covers, never permits the laser beam to escape.

2. The CDRH Act

A laser-product-related act was implemented on Aug. 2, 1976, by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This act prohibits the sale of laser products in the U.S. without certification, and applies to laser products manufactured after Aug. 1, 1976. The label shown below indicates compliance with the CDRH regulations and must be attached to laser products marketed in the United States. The position of the rating label is show below.

3. Maintenance

For safety of the service personnel, follow the maintenance instructions in the other section of this manual.

4. Safety switch

The power to the laser unit is cut off when the front cover is opened.

Caution: The power plug is the main isolation device! Other switches on the equipment are only functional switches and are not suitable for isolating the equipment from the power source.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
