How to use the kettle for the first time?

Before first use, it is recommended to boil water twice and discard it to clean the appliance. Fill the kettle between the min (0.5 L) and max (1.7 L) marks, plug it in, press the on/off button to heat to 100°C, then empty the water after boiling.

How to adjust the water temperature?

Press the on/off button (icon) once: the icon turns red. Turn the dial in one direction or the other to select the desired temperature (40°C, 50°C, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 90°C, or 100°C). The kettle heats to that temperature and then turns off automatically.

How to activate the keep warm function?

Press and hold the on/off button for 3 seconds: the icon flashes red and the keep warm icon lights up. Turn the dial to choose the keep warm temperature (40°C to 100°C). The kettle heats to that temperature and maintains it for 2 hours. If the temperature drops by 5°C, it reheats.

What to do if the kettle turns off before water boils?

This can happen if the water level is too low (below the min mark 0.5 L). The dry boil protection cuts the power. Let the kettle cool down, fill it with at least 0.5 L of water, then use it normally.

How to clean the descaling filter?

Open the lid, remove the descaling filter, rinse it under running water, dry it, and then replace it correctly. It is recommended to clean it regularly.

How to descale the kettle?

Use white vinegar at 8° (fill halfway, let sit for 1 hour cold) or citric acid (boil 0.5 L water + 25 g citric acid, let sit for 15 min). Rinse 5-6 times after descaling. Perform this operation at least once a month.

Is the kettle safe if operated without water?

Yes, it is equipped with dry boil protection which shuts it off automatically if turned on without water. Let it cool down before filling with cold water and reusing.

Can I use the kettle with an extension cord?

Yes, but the extension cord must be suitable for the appliance's power (1850-2200 W). An unsuitable extension cord may overheat. Also ensure you do not trip over the cord.

What to do if the kettle does not heat?

Check that the plug is properly inserted and that the power outlet works. Make sure the lid is closed properly. If the problem persists, contact Emerio after-sales service. Never attempt to repair the appliance yourself.

Before use make sure to read all of the below instructions in order to avoid injury or damage, and to get the best results from the appliance. Make sure to keep this manual in a safe place. If you give or transfer this appliance to someone else make sure to also include this manual.

In case of damage caused by user failing to follow the instructions in this manual the warranty will be void. The manufacturer/importer accepts no liability for damages caused by failure to follow the manual, a negligent use or use not in accordance with the requirements of this manual.

1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
2. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
3. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.
4. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
5. Children shall not play with the appliance.
6. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

7. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environment; bed and breakfast type environments.

8. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

9. When cleaning, the appliance must not be immersed.

10. Regarding the instructions for cleaning the surfaces which come in contact with food, please refer to the paragraph "cleaning and maintenance" of the manual.

11. Warning: Avoid spillage on the connector.

12. There is a potential risk of injuries from misuse.

13. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.

14. Before inserting the plug into the mains socket, please check that the voltage and frequency comply with the specifications on the rating label.

15. If an extension cord is used it must be suited to the power consumption of the appliance, otherwise overheating of the extension cord and/or plug may occur. There is a potential risk of injuries from tripping over the extension cord. Be careful to avoid dangerous situations.

16. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket when the appliance is not in use and before cleaning.

17. Ensure that the mains cable is not hung over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and open flames.

18. Do not immerse the appliance or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is danger to life due to electric shock!

19. To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord.

20. Do not touch the appliance if it falls into water. Remove the plug from its socket, turn off the appliance and send it to an authorized service center for repair.

21. Do not plug or unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.

22. Never attempt to open the housing of the appliance, or to repair the appliance yourself. This could cause electric shock.

23. Never leave the appliance unattended during use.

24. This appliance is not designed for commercial use.

25. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.

26. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.
27. Do not operate the appliance without water to avoid damaging the heating elements.
28. Do not wind the power cord around the appliance during storage. This could cause damage to the cord and lead to danger of short circuit, electric shock or fire.
29. Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water; the boil-dry protection will automatically switch it off. If this should occur, allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and re-boiling.
30. Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the kettle too fast.
31. Do not touch the hot surface. Use the handle or the button.
32. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot water.
33. The kettle is for household use only, not for outdoor.
34. Our warranty does not cover water kettles that malfunction resulting from failure to descale.
35. Do not boil anything but water in this water kettle.
36. If you wish to stop the kettle before the water has boiled, you must switch off the appliance before removing the kettle from its base.

BEFORE USING YOUR KETTLE

If you are using the kettle for the first time, it is recommended that you clean your kettle before use by boiling a full kettle of water twice and then discarding the water.

Basic operation: Boil water to 100°C

1. Open the lid; pour out left over water from previous boiling cycle and fill with the desired amount of fresh water to the water kettle. Always fill the kettle between the minimum (0.5L) and maximum (1.7L) marks. Too little water will result in the kettle switching off before the water has boiled.

NOTE: Do not fill the water over the maximum level, as water may spill out of the spout when boiling. Ensure that the lid is firmly in place before connecting the power cord to the outlet.

This water kettle is equipped with an overfill safety feature. This will make sure that in case of overfilling the kettle the water will not come in contact with electrical components of the kettle ensuring no unsafe situations can occur. In case of overfill the water will be lead through the inner side of the kettle and will exit the kettle at the bottom, away from the electrical element.

1. Connect the plug into a power outlet, the icon ⏻ in the function knob indicates green. The

temperature display shows the current water temperature. Press the icon ⏻ once, the kettle starts to boil water. In the temperature display, you will find that “100°C” flashes three times, then shows the current temperature.

1. The kettle will switch off automatically once the water has boiled. You can shut off the power by pressing the icon 🏠 again at any moment during boiling water.

Once the water has boiled, the icon ⏻ will indicate green. If no further operations in 5 minutes, the green icon will be off. Press again, it will light up.

NOTE: Ensure that the lid is firmly closed all the time throughout the boiling cycle. Scalding may occur if the lid is open.

NOTE: operate carefully when pouring the water from your kettle as boiling water will scald.

1. Allow to cool for 30\~40 seconds before reopening to boil water. Never re-boil water older than 2 hours.

2. Unplug the appliance after use.

3. Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water; the boil-dry protection will automatically switch it off. If this occurs, allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and re-boiling.

Advanced operation:

1. Boil water to 40^ C, 50^ C, 60^ C, 70^ C, 80^ C, 90^ C

Press the icon ⏻ once, the icon ⏻ indicates red. Turn the knob in clockwise or anti-clockwire direction, 40°C, 50°C, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 90°C, 100°C will show in cycles on the temperature display. Choose your desired temperature, the kettle will heat the water to the set temperature and switch off automatically.

1. Keep warm function:

1) Press the icon ⏻ for 3 seconds, the icon ⏻ will indicate red and flash. You will find that "100°C" flashes three times, then shows the current temperature; and icon ⏻ (keep warm icon) will light up. The kettle will boil water to 100°C, then keep the temperature for 2 hours. During these 2 hours, it will go on heating when the temperature drops to 90°C.

2) If you want to keep the water warm for 40^ C, 50^ C, 60^ C, 70^ C, 80^ C or 90^ C:

Press the icon ⏻ for 3 seconds, the icon ⏻ will indicate red and flash, and icon ⏻ (keep warm icon) will light up. Turn the knob in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, 40°C, 50°C, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 90°C, 100°C will show in cycles on the temperature display. Choose your desired temperature, the kettle will heat the water to the set temperature and keep this temperature for 2 hours.

For example, if you choose the temperature 40^ C. 40^ C will flash three times, then shows the current water temperature. The kettle will start working, and when the water temperature reaches 40^ C, the kettle will switch off and keep temperature at 40^ C for 2 hours. During these 2 hours, it will go on heating when the temperature drops to 35^ C.

During 2 hours of keeping warm, the kettle will go on heating if the current water temperature is 5^ C below the set temperature ( 40^ C, 50^ C, 60^ C, 70^ C, 80^ C, 90^ C).

Note:

1) The kettle can have keep warm function only under above operation way, and if removing the kettle from its base, the function will be lost and need to reset.

2) If the keep warm icon is flashing, and the set temperature shows in the display, which means the water temperature is higher than the set temperature. The keep warm function will be on when the water temperature drops to the set temperature.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

1. Always let the kettle cool down first and disconnect the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.

2. Never immerse the kettle area or cord in water, or allow moisture to contact with these parts.

3. To clean the filter: open the lid and take out the filter, have the filter rinsed under running water and then dry it. Place it back correctly.

Cleaning appearance of housing:

Wipe the appearance of body with a mild and damp cloth or cleaner, never use a poisonous cleaner.

Never immerse the power base in water or other liquid for cleaning.

Descale regularly, preferably at least once a month and more frequently if your water is very hard.

To descale your kettle, use:

- white vinegar

- fill the kettle with half a litre of vinegar

- leave to stand for 1 hour without heating

- citric acid:

- boil half a litre of water

- add 25g of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

Empty your kettle and rinse it 5 or 6 times.
