How to use the SC EWM 9 waffle maker for the first time?

Remove the packaging, clean the plates with a damp cloth and lightly grease them. Plug in the appliance, the red and green indicators light up. Preheat for 10 minutes to eliminate odors. Pour the batter, close and let cook for 3 to 6 minutes depending on desired doneness.

What to do if the green indicator light flashes or turns off?

This is normal: the thermostat regulates the temperature. The green light turns off when the temperature is reached and turns back on when it drops. Continue using normally.

How much batter should I put in the waffle maker?

Use a measuring cup or spoon to spread the batter on the lower plate, without overfilling to avoid overflow. The ideal amount depends on the recipe, but generally 50 to 80 ml is sufficient.

Can I use metal utensils on the plates?

No, never use metal, sharp or abrasive objects as they would damage the non-stick coating. Use a wooden or heat-resistant plastic spatula instead.

How to clean the waffle maker after use?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Clean the plates with a soft cloth or paper towel. Never immerse the appliance in water and do not use abrasive sponges.

Can I cook other foods besides waffles?

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Important : This appliance can be used by children over 8 years old and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or with a lack of experience or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and the risks involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.

Never leave the appliance and its cord unsupervised and within reach of children less than 8 years old or irresponsible persons when it is plugged into the wall or when it is cooling down.

BEFORE FIRST USE

• Remove the packaging completely.
• Clean the baking plates with a damp cloth or sponge.
• Grease the baking plates slightly.
  • Always ensure that no water gets into the device.

- It is recommended to preheat the appliance for 10 minutes before using it for the first time so that the odor disappears.

GETTING STARTED

• Close the device and plug in the plug. The red pilot light and the green ready light will come on to indicate that the appliance is switched on and heating.
• The green ready light will go out when the cooking temperature is reached. During use, this ready light will come on and off regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is regulating the appliance's temperature.
  • Danger! During use, the baking plates become hot. Do not touch them.
• Once heated, open the appliance and lightly grease the baking plates with butter, margarine or cooking oil. This will facilitate the removal of the waffles once they are baked.
• Spread the batter on the lower baking plate as described in the recipes. Do not fill in too much batter, it will run out the sides if the appliance is overfilled. Use a measuring cup, spoon or piping bag to fill the baking plate with batter. CAUTION: Do not use plastic tools as they may melt on contact with the baking plates.
• Close the cover carefully.
  • Bake the waffles according to the desired degree of browning (about 3-6 minutes).

Note : These pre-settings are for reference only. As foods differ in origin, size, shape as well as brand, we cannot guarantee the best setting for your foods.

• When the waffles are ready, remove them with a wooden or plastic spatula. Do not use sharp, pointed or metal objects, these might damage the non-stick coating of the baking plates.
• After completing the baking process, unplug the power cord and leave the appliance off to allow the baking plates to cool.

CLEANING

• Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance to cool down.
• Wipe the outside with a damp cloth, making sure that no moisture, oil or grease penetrates the device.
• Wipe the inside and the edges of the baking plates with a paper towel or a soft, damp cloth.
• Do not clean the inside or outside with abrasive scouring pads or metal objects.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
• Grease the device slightly before using it again.
  • For space-saving storage, the egg waffle maker can be stored in upright position.

We, Efbe-Schott, hereby confirm that our product meets the requirements of regulation 1275/2008/EC. Admittedly, our product does not dispose of a function to minimize the power consumption, which should according to regulation 1275/2008/EC put the product in off or standby mode after finishing the main function, but this is practically impossible, as it would compromise the main function of the product so strongly, that using the product would no longer be possible!

For this reason we always tell the customer in our instruction manual to unplug the appliance immediately after use.
