How to program the reference color on the OD5012 sensor?
Set the channel selector to the desired channel (Out1, Out2 or Out3), press the Teach button until a red light spot appears, then release. The Out/OK indicator lights up if successful. If it flashes, the intensity is too high: tilt the sensor by 10 to 30° and repeat.
What does the flashing Out/OK LED mean?
A flashing indicates that the received light intensity is too high. To remedy, tilt the sensor by 10 to 30° relative to the object or, in retroreflective mode, increase the sensor/reflector distance or use a smaller reflector.
How to set the color tolerance?
Use the Tolerance rotary switch: position 1 for low tolerance (fine shade detection), position 3 for basic setting, position 5 for high tolerance (color family detection). The setting can be different for each output.
What is the detection range of the sensor?
The range is 12.5 mm for moving objects. For fixed objects, check the range indicated on the device. In retroreflective mode, the distance to the reflector must be adjusted according to the intensity.
Can transparent objects be detected?
Yes, it is recommended to use an appropriate reflector. Mount the reflector opposite the sensor so that the beam hits its center.

The colour sensor detects coloured objects and materials without contact in diffuse-reflection or retro-reflective mode.

Mount the colour sensor in such a way that the object to be detected makes as little lateral and vertical movement as possible. Consider the specified sensing range.

Transparent objects can be better detected by means of a suitable reflector. Mount the reflector opposite the colour sensor so that the light beam strikes the centre of the reflector.

In the case of moving objects the direction of movement should be transverse to the sensor to achieve optimum repeatability (this only applies to sensors with a sensing range of 12.5 mm).

In the case of shiny object surfaces the sensor should be mounted at an angle of inclination of 10 ... 30° referred to the object.

The input AT (activation trigger = synchronising signal) can be used for triggering the sensor via an external voltage signal.
