1 Safety instructions

IFM DI605A - Safety instructions - 1

Remarks for safe use in hazardous areas.

  • The device must only be installed, connected and set up by qualified staff. The qualified staff must have knowledge of types of protection, regulations and provisions for apparatus in hazardous areas.
  • The classification and marking of the device must be suitable for the application.
  • Adhere to the respective national regulations and provisions as well as the relevant installation regulations.
  • Observe applicable documents.

2 Intended use

Use in hazardous areas according to the classification:

3 Installation

Wiring and electrical characteristics: → Technical data and → Device marking

▶ Protect device and cable against destruction.
▶ Avoid electrostatic charging on plastic housings and cables.
▶ Always avoid rubbing the device with non-conductive materials.
▶ To avoid electrostatic charging, ensure the equalisation of potential of metal parts (connector housing, fixing elements, protective housing, etc.).
▶ Do not mount the device in the dust flow.
▶ Avoid dust deposits on the product.
▶ Only open or close M12 fittings in a sufficiently clean environment.
▶ Avoid soiling of the connector area.
▶ To avoid soiling, do not remove the dust caps from the cable glands or the plugs until introducing the cables or attaching the socket.

3.1 Special conditions for safe operation

The housing and housing parts made of plastic have been tested in accordance with IEC 60079-0 for group II and for a low mechanical risk with an impact energy of 4 joules.

▶ Use ifm sockets EVC**A with Ex certificate (certificate number BVS 08 ATEX E 109 U, IECEx BVS 08.0041U).
▶ Secure the sockets by tightening the coupling nut sufficiently according to the requirements of the socket.
▶ Do not separate the connector when energized.
▶ Apply a durable warning in suitable form close to the connector reading: "Do not separate when energized" or use the enclosed label to ensure a durable marking.
▶ Avoid direct exposure to high levels of UV light (sunlight). Mount the device in a protected place.

4 Maintenance, repair and disposal

No modifications or repairs may be made to the device.

▶ In case of a fault please contact the manufacturer.
▶ If required, request data sheets or type examination certificates / certificates from the manufacturer ( → cover sheet / back).
