Frequently Asked Questions - PG1715 IFM
How do I determine the correct wiring for the PG1715?
For the PG1715, use an M12 connector with a 4-pin plug. Pin assignment per standard: Pin 1 = supply + (brown), Pin 3 = supply - (blue), Pin 4 = signal output (black). For two-wire 4-20mA, pins 2 and 5 are usually not used.
What is the power supply requirement?
The sensor operates with a 18...32 V DC power supply. A 24 V DC supply is typical. Low voltage may cause signal errors.
Can the PG1715 be used for water or aggressive liquids?
The wetted parts are made of stainless steel 316L and the seal is FKM, so it is suitable for water, many oils, and mild chemicals. Avoid fluids that react with these materials.
How do I adjust the zero point?
Most PG1715 models are factory calibrated and do not require zero adjustment. Some versions have a tapered hole for zero adjust, but we recommend returning to IFM for recalibration if needed.
What is the accuracy of the device?
The accuracy is ±0.5% of the measuring range. For a 10 bar sensor, that is ±0.05 bar.
How should I clean the sensor?
Clean the housing with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use solvents or high-pressure cleaners that could damage the connector.
Is the sensor suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes, the IP67 rating protects against dust and temporary immersion. However, protect the M12 connector from moisture and regularly check the connector seal.
What happens in case of an overpressure beyond the measuring range?
The sensor can withstand an overload pressure of 30 bar (3x the maximum range) without permanent damage. Exceeding this can destroy the sensing element.
Does the sensor require periodic maintenance?
The PG1715 is maintenance-free. Periodically check the cable and connection for damage and verify the output signal against a reference.
Can I use the sensor in hazardous areas (Ex)?
The standard model is not approved for explosive atmospheres. It must be used outside hazardous zones unless an Ex-rated version is specified.
