4. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Before using your coffee maker for the first time, familiarise yourself with all the parts. Read all the instructions carefully.
  • Open the container lid (2) upwards

(Fig 2), take out the filter and the filter holder (Fig. 3) and clean them, the jug and the jug lid in warm soapy water. Rinse well, dry them and reassemble them.

To clean the inside, operate the coffee maker twice in succession without any ground coffee in the filter. For this process, follow the instructions under the heading "Preparing your coffee".

5. PREPARED YOUR COFFEE

  • Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface.
  • Open the container lid (2) upwards (Fig 2) and fill it with clean, cold water up to the desired level. Do not exceed the container's maximum level.
  • Fill the permanent filter (8) with the amount of ground coffee you desire and close the lid. We suggest one flat dessertspoonful of ground coffee per cup of coffee. After using the coffee maker a few times, you may adjust the amount of coffee to taste.
  • Place the jug (4), with its lid (3) duly assembled, on the hotplate (5). Make sure the jug lid opens the anti-drip valve, otherwise the filtered coffee will not flow through into the jug and will overflow out of the filter.
Take the cord out of the cord compartment (18) and plug it in to the mains.

6. MANUAL OPERATION

  • Connect the coffee maker by pressing the on switch (11). The red light will come on.
  • The switch light will indicate that the appliance is in operation. The water will start to filter through the coffee maker into the jug.
  • When the coffee maker is in operation, only the switch works.
  • Disconnect the coffee maker by pressing the on/off switch (11). If you do not disconnect the coffee maker,

it will disconnect automatically after 2 hours.

During these 2 hours, the hotplate (5) will keep your coffee hot.
- The coffee maker has an anti-drip system to prevent the coffee dripping onto the hotplate when the jug is not correctly in place or when it is removed from the appliance.
- With the aroma control button it is possible to regulate the strength of the aroma of the prepared coffee. You may select from a gradual range of mild to strong.

Once the coffee maker is connected to the mains, the message <<00:00>> will flash up on the LCD display screen (10). To adjust the time, the coffee maker should be switched off. Press the "h" hour setting (15) or the "m" minute setting button (16) until you obtain the correct timing. The appliance uses a 24 hour format.

NB: In the event of an electrical power cut or when disconnecting the main cord from the coffee maker, the set time will be deleted from memory.

Automatic setting

  • The coffee maker should be off to set the start time.
  • To select the start time, keep the setting button (17) pressed down while pressing the "h" hour setting (15) or "m" minute setting button (16), until you obtain the desired time.
  • To set the start time that you have selected, press the "auto" button (12). The green light (12) will come on.
  • At the set time, the coffee maker will start to operate automatically. The red light (14) will come on and the green light (13) will go off.

8. TIPS FOR MAKING A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE

To give your coffee a better flavour and aroma, we advise using recently ground coffee.

The coffee should be medium ground and not too fine.

Store the coffee in a dry place. Once the packet of coffee has been opened, you may store it tightly closed in the refrigerator to ensure that it maintains its aroma.

The best coffee is obtained by drinking it as soon as it is made.

9. CLEANING

Before cleaning your coffee maker, switch off the on/off switch , unplug the appliance and wait until it has cooled.

Clean the filter holder (9), the filter (8), the jug (4) and the lid (3) of the jug in warm soapy water, rinse in clean water and dry the parts before reassembling them.

Clean the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use detergents or abrasive products to clean it.

Do not immerse the appliance in water or run it under the tap.

10. REMOVING LIMESCALE

Depending on how hard the water is in your area and how often you use the coffee maker, it is possible that the pipes may become blocked due to the lime content of the water. This is noticeable when the filtering process lasts longer than usual. In order to avoid this, you should remove limescale from the coffee maker using products suitable for coffee makers which are readily available on the market.
