Can I use the Musica M530AW speaker outdoors?

Yes, it is designed to withstand the weather with a shatterproof enclosure and durable materials. Mount it preferably under an eave and angle it slightly downward to prevent water accumulation.

How do I install the speaker on a wall?

Use the provided C-bracket. Place screws in the L-shaped holes of the bracket for vertical or horizontal mounting. The 9.5 mm center hole allows wires to pass through the bracket.

Can the speaker be ceiling mounted?

Yes, the speaker can be oriented downward, for example in a drop ceiling. Use the C-bracket or forged eye bolts (not included).

How do I connect the speaker to the amplifier?

Use good quality speaker wire (unshielded twisted pair, 16 AWG for up to 24 m, 14 AWG beyond). Connect the push terminals observing polarity.

What wire gauge can I use?

The terminals accept stranded wire up to 14 AWG (max) or standard banana plugs.

How do I clean the speaker?

Use a damp cloth or paper towel. Never spray with high pressure water. For speakers at height, gently dust with a feather duster.

Can I change the orientation of the MUSICA logo?

Yes, remove the logo and rotate it 90 degrees. It locks into the new position, useful for horizontal mounting.

What is the effect of wall mounting on sound level?

Against one surface (wall), the level increases by 3 dB. Against two surfaces (wall+ceiling), +6 dB. In a corner near the ceiling, +9 dB.

How do I install the speaker on a shelf?

Remove the C-bracket by unscrewing the thumbscrews. Reinsert the bottom screw into the enclosure to keep the speaker level.

PLACEMENT

Outdoor use:

The materials used in the construction of these Musica Indoor/Outdoor speakers are weather resistant for use in even the harshest conditions. Adhering to just a few mounting guidelines will further extend the life of the product.

Whenever possible, mount the speaker under an eve or other protective overhang. Always aim the speaker at a slight downward angle to prevent water from accumulating on the speaker cone.

Do not place the speaker in a location where water, snow or ice will accumulate on the speaker for extended periods of time.

Indoor Use:

These Musica Indoor/Outdoor speakers work very well when wall mounted in indoor applications. When you place the speaker on a wall, you take advantage of the natural boundary effect that occurs when a speaker system is placed against one or more surfaces. This boundary effect will provide increased overall output. When you mount the speaker against one surface (on a wall) you increase output by 3dB. When you mount the speaker against two surfaces (on the wall near the ceiling) you increase the output by 6dB. When you mount the speaker against three surfaces (in a corner near the ceiling) you increase the output by 9dB.

Shelf Mounting:

When placing these speakers on a shelf or other flat surface, remove the C-bracket by unscrewing the top and bottom thumb screws. Then re-insert the bottom thumb screw into the cabinet. This will allow the speaker to maintain a level orientation.

Down Firing:

M430AW/M530AW also work well in a down firing configuration for spaces utilizing open beam ceilings such as offices, restaurants and warehouses.

INSTALLATION

Fixed Install:

The M430AW/M530AW include a versatile yet simple C-bracket designed to provide easy vertical or horizontal installation on just about any surface. The speaker may be installed using screws or bolts placed through the "L" shaped holes in the mounting bracket. The center 3/8" hole allows wires to exit through the bracket when wall mounting, for a neat installation. On M530AW, the unused inserts on the rear of the cabinet may be used with standard 1/4"-20 forged eyebolt. These parts are available through many sources. Size 21, 1/4" X 1" Forged Eyebolt

When you have an installation challenge that the C-bracket will not accommodate, we suggest you contact our friends at OMNIMOUNT systems (www.omnimount.com) to select one of their quality swivel mount products.

When mounting the speakers in a horizontal orientation, you can easily change the orientation of the MUSICA logos on the grilles. Simply pull the logo out slightly and turn the logo 90 degrees, where it will lock into place in the new direction.

MUSICA products purchased in the USA from an authorized MUSICA dealer are guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 Year, the warranty period begins the day the product is purchased by the end user. This warranty is void if it is determined that unauthorized parties have attempted repairs or alterations of any nature. Warranty does not extend to cosmetics or finish. CONNECTIONS:

The M530AW input terminals are 5-way binding posts. The binding post is designed to accept up to 14#AWG stranded cable or standard banana plugs. The M430AW input terminals are spring clips designed to accept up to 14#AWG stranded cable.

Be sure to use a good quality, unshielded twisted pair speaker cable to connect the amplifier to the speaker(s) (#16AWG for runs less than 80', #14AWG for runs greater than 80'). Standard ZIP style speaker cable may also be used if twisted pair cable is not available.

When making the connections, be sure to maintain proper polarity between speakers. (Red wire to red terminal and black wire to black terminal).

Maintenance and Care

Your Musica Indoor/Outdoor speakers have been designed and manufactured for years of trouble-free service. You can clean your loudspeakers with a dampened soft cloth or paper towel. If the speaker is mounted high on a wall or ceiling, use a broom or duster to gently brush it off. Spraying the speaker with high-pressure water is not recommended.
