3. INSTALLATION

Before installing the refrigerator, carefully review the safety information (section 1).

3.1 LOCATION

Ventilation

When selecting a position for your fridge you should make sure the floor is flat and firm, and the room is well ventilated. Avoid locating your fridge near a heat source, e.g. cooker, boiler or radiator. Also avoid direct sunlight in out-buildings or sun lounges. If you are placing your fridge in an out-building such as a garage or annex ensure that the fridge is placed above the damp course, otherwise condensation will occur on the fridge cabinet. When working, the refrigerator gives off heat to its surroundings. Therefore, at least 30mm of free space should be left on the top, more than 100mm on both sides, and more than 50mm at the back of the refrigerator.

Cleaning before use

Wipe the inside of the fridge with a weak solution of bicarbonate of soda then rinse with warm water using a damp sponge or cloth. Wash the baskets and shelves in warm soapy water and dry completely before replacing in the fridge. The external parts of the fridge

can be cleaned with a non-abrasive detergent diluted in warm water.

Before plugging in YOU MUST:

Check that you have a socket which is compatible with the plug supplied with the fridge. Check BEFORE switching on!

Do not switch on until four hours after moving the fridge.

The coolant fluid needs time to settle. If the appliance is switched off at any time, wait 30 minutes before switching back on to allow the coolant fluid to settle.

Before filling your fridge:

Before storing foods in your fridge, turn the fridge on and wait for 24 hours, to make sure it is working properly and to allow the fridge to fall to the correct temperature.

Levelling the fridge

If the fridge is not level, the door and magnetic seal alignment will be affected and may cause your fridge to work incorrectly. Once the fridge is placed in its final location, adjust the leveling feet at the front by turning them.

STORAGE OF FOOD

1. How to Use the Refrigerator Compartment

  • Cooked dishes can be put into the refrigerator once they have cooled to room temperature.
  • Use the egg pockets and bottle pockets for eggs, butter, milk and bottled drinks, etc.

2. Placement of Food

  • Leave enough space between foods. If items are stored too closely together, the cold air flow will be blocked, thus affecting the refrigeration effect.
  • Food to be stored should be wrapped with clean plastic film and/or aluminium foil to avoid cross-contamination, odours or loss of moisture, and then distributed amongst the compartments and shelves.
  • Cool hot food down to room temperature before putting it in the fridge to avoid any increase in energy consumption or formation of frost within the fridge.

IN USE

  1. The appliance might not operate consistently (there is possibility of defrosting or a rise in temperature in the frozen food compartment) if it remains below the cold limit of the temperature range for which the refrigerating appliance is designed.
  2. The internal temperatures may be affected by such factors as the location of the refrigerating appliance, the ambient temperature and the frequency of door opening, etc., and, if appropriate, a warning that the settings of any temperature control devices might need adjustment to allow for these factors, will be given.
  3. The storage time(s) recommended by the food manufacturers should be adhered to.
  4. A rise in the temperature of frozen food during manual defrosting, maintenance or cleaning could shorten its storage life.
  5. It is better to wrap frozen food in several layers of food wrapping materials before placing it on the glass shelves.
  6. Certain care must be taken with frozen food in storage in the event that the appliance is not run for an extended time (interruption of power supply or failure of the refrigerating system).

Tips for keeping food perfect in the fridge

Take extra care with meat and fish

Cooked meats should always be stored on a shelf above raw meats to avoid bacterial transfer. Keep raw meat on a plate large enough to collect juices and cover it with cling film or foil.

Leave space around food

This allows cold air to circulate around the fridge, ensuring all parts of the fridge are kept cool.

Wrap up food

To prevent the transfer of flavours or loss of moisture, food items should be covered and/or packed separately. Fruit and vegetables need not be wrapped.

Pre-cooked food should be cooled properly

Allow pre-cooked food to cool down before placing in the fridge. This will help to stop the internal temperature of the fridge from rising.

Shut the door

To prevent cold air escaping, try to limit the number of times you open the door. When returning from shopping, sort foods to be kept in the fridge before opening the door. Only open the door to put food in or take it out.

For recommended food storage time, refer to the information given on your food packaging.

Where to store your foods in the fridge

  • Place spreadable butter and cheese on the upper door shelf in the fridge compartment. This is where the temperature is the warmest.
  • Store preserves, jars and eggs on the middle shelf. Eggs are best stored on the supplied egg tray.
  • Place drink cartons and bottles in the large lower door shelves. Position full containers closer to the hinge in order to reduce the strain on the door.
  • Place cooked and baked foods on the glass shelves.
  • Place fresh meat, game, poultry, bacon, sausage and raw fish on the glass cover above the vegetable drawer. This is where the temperature is the lowest.
  • Place fresh fruit and vegetables in the vegetable tray.
  • Only store strong alcohol standing upright and tightly closed.
  • Allow hot food to cool before placing it in the fridge.

Veripart VPKK170Z - Where to store your foods in the fridge - 1

Note!

- Always wrap and store raw meat, poultry and fish on the lowest shelf at the bottom of the fridge and do not store it for a long time. This will stop those products from dripping onto or touching other foods. Do not store flammable gasses or liquids in the fridge.

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning the appliance, carefully review the safety information (Section 1).

For hygienic reasons, the inside of the appliance, including accessories, should be cleaned regularly.

! CAUTION!

  • Remove the plug from the socket before cleaning. Never touch the plug with wet hands because of the risk of electric shocks and injury.
  • Do not spill water directly onto the appliance to prevent rust, leakage and accidents.
  • Do not put your hands in the bottom of the fridge as the sharp metal corners can cause scratches.
  • Do not use water jets and steam to clean the appliance.
  • To prevent damage, do not use a hard brush, steel brush, detergent, soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzene, petrol, acids, chlorine, abrasive powders, hot water or other corrosive or soluble substances to clean the cabinet surface, door gasket or plastic decorative parts.
  • Do not use electrical appliances (such as a hairdryer or heater) to defrost your appliance.

! ATTENTION!

- The electrical parts of the appliance may only be cleaned with a dry cloth.

Interior and exterior cleaning

  • Food residues in the appliance can cause a bad smell. The appliance should therefore be cleaned regularly. The fresh food compartment is preferably cleaned monthly.
  • Remove all shelves, fruit and vegetable compartment, bottle racks, cover plate, drawers, etc. and clean with a soft cloth or sponge moistened with warm water or a neutral detergent.
  • If you are using cleaning agents, clean with a soft cloth or sponge, and wipe dry.
  • Regularly remove the dust from the back panel and side plates of the appliance. Use a dry cloth for this. (no water)
  • If the appliance has been empty for a long time, turn it off, defrost, clean, dry and leave the door open to avoid mould forming in the appliance.
