How to set the time manually if the DCF signal is not received?

Press and hold the TIME SET button for 3 seconds in normal mode. The hands move to 12 o'clock. Set the time zone using +/-, confirm with TIME SET. Then set the hour, minutes and seconds in the same way. Confirm each step with TIME SET. Note: If the DCF reception later succeeds, the manual time will be overwritten.

How to activate DCF reception manually?

Press the – button for three seconds. The DCF reception symbol flashes. To interrupt, press and hold the – button again until the symbol disappears.

What to do if the display shows nothing?

First check the polarity of the batteries. If correct, replace the batteries with new ones of type AAA 1.5V.

How to set the alarm?

Press the ALARM SET button in normal mode. The alarm time hand pulses. Hold down ALARM SET, then use + or - to set the desired time (minutes are adjusted in 12-minute steps). Confirm with ALARM SET. Then press ALARM ON/OFF to activate the alarm; the alarm hand remains displayed permanently.

How to use the snooze function?

When the alarm rings, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button. The alarm stops for 5 minutes and the alarm hand pulses. This function can be activated up to 7 times.

Why doesn't the clock receive the DCF signal?

Possible causes: distance too great, interference (screens, televisions), reinforced concrete buildings. Try placing the device near a window, 1.5-2 m from sources of interference. Reception is better at night. If the problem persists, set the time manually.

How to lock the keys to avoid accidental adjustments?

Slide the LOCK switch to ON (LOCK ON position). All keys are then locked. To unlock, slide the switch to LOCK OFF.

How to replace the batteries?

Open the battery compartment (C1) on the back of the device. Insert two new batteries of type AAA 1.5V observing polarity +/–. Close the compartment. An audible signal confirms power on.

What to do in case of battery leakage?

Wear chemical protective gloves and goggles. Remove the used batteries. Clean the compartment with a dry cloth. Avoid skin contact. Dispose of batteries according to regulations.

How to clean the clock radio?

4. Getting started

• Open the battery compartment and insert two new AAA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated.
• Close the battery compartment again.
• The device will alert you with a beep and all segments will be displayed for a short moment.

5. Radio-controlled time reception

• The clock hands move to 3.00 o'clock. The clock will now scan the DCF frequency signal and the DCF symbol flashes on the display. When the time code is successfully received after 3-8 minutes, the radio-controlled time and the DCF symbol will be shown steadily on the display.
• You can also start the initialization manually.
• Press and hold – button for three seconds.
• The DCF reception symbol will be flashing.
• Interrupt the reception by pressing the – button again for three seconds. The DCF reception symbol disappears.
• The DCF reception always takes place daily at 2:00 o'clock in the morning. If the reception is not successfully received, the next DCF reception attempt will happen at 3:00 o'clock in the morning.
• If the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (e.g. due to interference, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can be set manually. The clock will then work as a normal quartz clock.

Note on radio-controlled time

The time base for the radio-controlled time is a caesium atomic clock operated by the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt based in Braunschweig (Brunswick), Germany. It has a time deviation of less than one second in one million years. The time is coded and transmitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt via the frequency signal DCF-77 (77.5 kHz) and has a transmitting range of approximately 1,500 km. Your radio clock receives the signal, converts it and always shows the exact time. The adjustment to Daylight Saving Time (summer/winter time) is automatic. In Daylight Saving Time the DST symbol is shown on the display.

Therefore, please note the following steps:

• The recommended distance to any interfering sources like computer screens or TV sets is at least 1.5 - 2 meters.
• Within concrete walls (reinforced with steel) such as basements, the received signal is naturally weakened. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a window to improve reception.

- During night-time, the atmospheric interference is usually less severe and reception is possible in most cases. A single daily reception is adequate to keep the accuracy deviation under 1 second.

6. Operation

• The device will automatically quit the setting mode if no button is pressed for 15 seconds.
• Press and hold the + or - button in setting mode for fast mode.

6.1 Manual setting of the time zone and time

• Press and hold the TIME SET button in normal mode for three seconds.
• The clock hands move to 12.00 o'clock (default = without time zone correction). Press the + or - button to make the time zone correction (+3/-3). The time zone correction is needed for countries where the DCF signal can be received but the time zone is different from the DCF time (e.g. +1=one hour plus).

• Confirm the setting with the TIME SET button.
• The hour hand flashes. Press the + or - button to set the hours.
• Confirm with the TIME SET button. Set minutes and seconds in the same way.
• Confirm the setting with the TIME SET button.
• The manually set time is overwritten once the DCF time signal is successfully received.

6.2 Alarm time setting

• Press the ALARM SET button in normal mode to enter the alarm mode.
• 7:00 (default) or the last adjusted alarm time appear on the display. The alarm time hand pulsates.

• Press and hold the ALARM SET button. The alarm time hand flashes.
• Press the + or -button to set the desired alarm time.
• The minutes can only be set to 12, 24, 36, 48 or to the full hour (see marking).
• Confirm the setting with the ALARM SET button.
• To activate the alarm function press the ALARM ON/OFF button. The hand for the set alarm time pulsates briefly and then appears permanently in the display.
• When the adjusted alarm time is reached, the alarm rings.
• Press any button (except SNOOZE/LIGHT) and the alarm will stop.
• The alarm sound automatically turns off after 3 minutes if not stopped manually.
• When the alarm rings, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button and the snooze function is activated. The alarm time hand pulsates.
• The alarm will be interrupted for 5 minutes.

• The snooze function can be activated up to seven times.
• The alarm will be reactivated twelve hours later.
• Press the ALARM ON/OFF button to deactivate the alarm function. The alarm time hand disappears.

7. Light

• Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button.
  • The backlight turns on for 5 seconds.

8. Lock function

• Slide the switch to LOCK ON and all buttons are locked.
• Slide the switch to the position LOCK OFF and the function is deactivated.

9. Care and maintenance

- Clean the device with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.

• Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period of time.
• Keep the device in a dry place.

10. Troubleshooting
