- It is essential to disconnect the appliance’s power cord from the power supply in the following cases: - After use - Before cleaning or care. - In case of malfunction.
- Only connect the appliance to an outlet with a grounded power supply that meets electrical safety requirements currently in force. If an extension cord is required, use a grounded extension cord, and make sure that the power supply is powerful enough to cater for the appliance.
- Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating label on the appliance.
- Unroll the power cord completely.
- To avoid overloading the power grid, do not connect other devices to the same circuit.
- Do not pull on the power cord or the appliance itself to unplug it.
- Do not handle the appliance with wet hands.
- Place the appliance on a flat, dry, horizontal, non-slip surface.
- Be careful not to place the appliance on the edge of a table or work surface, to prevent it from tipping over.
- Make sure that the power cord and any extension cords are not obs
tructing the passage, to prevent it from tipping over.
- Never move the appliance while in use.
- Never use the appliance out of doors.
- Never use the appliance near water.
- Do not place the appliance near a source of heat and do not allow the power cord to touch a hot surface.
- This appliance must be protected from frost. Never leave it in a car in winter, or in any other place subject to freezing, to avoid damage.27
- This appliance gets very hot when in use and will remain hot for some time. When handling the jug, be sure only to touch the handle.
- Beware of hot steam escaping from the lid and spout.
- It is essential to ensure that projections of water or any other liquids do not enter the electrical connec
tors, the control buttons, the Easy Select control switch and the digital display screen.
- Only use the jug supplied with the power base.
- Do not exceed the maximum level when filling the kettle (1.8 L). If the kettle is too full, boiling water may spill from the spout.
- CAUTION: always keep the lid closed when in use. Do not open the lid when the kettle is heating or when the water is boiling.
- Do not fill the jug by pouring water into the spout. Do not fill the jug without removing it from its power base.
- To avoid danger, place the appliance on a non-heat- sensitive surface, and make sure it is at least 20 cm from walls. Do not place anything on the appliance. The space above the appliance must remain clear and unobs
- CAUTION: Make sure the appliance is switched off (not in heating mode) before removing the jug from its power base.
- Do not turn the appliance on while empty.
- This appliance is only designed to heat water. Using it to heat any other type of liquid (milk...) or food (tea, honey, sugar, sweetener, coffee, chocolate...) is strictly prohibited.
- Do not insert objects into the kettle.
- Make sure that the power base and the base of the jug are com- pletely dry before connecting the appliance.
- Do not disconnect the power cord when the appliance is in hea- ting mode.
- Never use the appliance as a room-heating device.
- Make sure that the power cord does not come into contact with the hot parts of the appliance.
- Do not store the appliance while still hot. Let to cool in the open air beforehand.
- Unpack the appliance and remove all the plastic bags, cardboard, and paper protecting its different parts.
- Do not discard packaging components.
- Never leave plastic bags within the reach of children. Your Expert kettle has 2 preparation modes that display on the screen: - the water mode is used for infusions, coffee, sauces, dehydrated or instant soups... Only the temperature of the water is shown on the screen. Using the Easy Select control switch, you can select a temperature ranging between 40 and 100°C, in increments of 5°C. - the tea display mode is used to heat water to make tea. Depending on the type of tea you choose, the screen shows the temperature and brewing time. Up to 10 different types of tea can be selected (with water temperatures ranging between 50 and 95°C, in increments of 5°C).
- Remove any self-adhesive labels that may be affixed to the outer part of the appliance, or any information leaflets.
- To clean the various parts of the appliance, please refer to the dedicated section entitled "Cleaning and Care" on page 30. The temperature and brewing time shown for each type of tea are given as a guide. These parameters may vary depending on the origin of the tea. When the tea display mode is selected,

To save energy, your kettle is equipped with a standby mode. After 10 minutes of non-use, the appliance switches to standby mode. Lights and screen are turned off. To exit this mode, press one of the buttons, or operate the Easy Select control switch. A sound signal will be heard and the screen will illuminate. When not in use, the kettle should be unplugged. Deactivating the sound bips If the sound signals emitted by your kettle disturb or bother you, they can be disabled. To do so, press the button for at least 6 seconds. The icon will appear on the screen to confirm that the sound signal has been deactivated. To reactivate the sound signal, press the button again for at least 6 seconds. The icon will disappear from the screen, confirming that the sound signals have been reactivated. If you wish to activate the Keep warm function, press the button during the heating cycle. Its light will illuminate and the icon will appear on the screen. Once the water has reached the selected temperature, the "Keep warm" function is automatically activated for 30 minutes. b. Tea display mode
- Check that the tea display mode icon is displayed on the screen. If not, press the button for approximately 3 seconds.
- Select your choice of tea using the Easy Select control switch. Your choice of tea will determine the temperature and brew time. The kettle has 10 different tea settings:
- The temperature is displayed on the screen while the information on the type of tea and the brewing time are displayed intermittently one after the other.
7. You have 10 seconds to press the
button to begin the heating cycle. A beep is heard and the light will illuminate. From 10°C onwards, the actual water temperature appears on the screen and increases until the selected temperature has been reached.
8. When the required temperature has been reached,
a beep is heard. If the "Keep Warm" function has been selected, it is automatically activated at the end of the heating cycle for 30 minutes, with possible temperature variations around the selected value (see Keep Warm paragraph below). After 30 minutes, the Keep Warm phase and its light are both switched off.

10. Unplug the power cord.
At any time before the end of the heating cycle, you can activate the "Keep Warm" function by pressing the button. Its light and the icon on the screen will both illuminate. To deactivate it, press the button again. Its light and the icon on the screen will both be switched off. PLEASE NOTE - The "Keep Warm" function cannot be selected before or after the heating cycle. - The keep warm temperature corresponds to the selected temperature if it is between 40°C and 90°C. - If the selected temperature is 95°C or 100°C, the keep warm process begins when the water has reached 90°C. PLEASE NOTE - At any time during the heating and Keep Warm cycles, you can:
- Check the selected temperature in water mode, or the selected temperature, brewing time or tea type in tea display mode. To do so, move the Easy Select control switch up or down briefly, and the information will flash on the screen for a few seconds before switching back to the actual water temperature.
- Switch your kettle off manually by pressing the button. - When in use, some water drops may form on the power base. This is perfectly normal. It is caused by steam condensing during the heating process. - When you reconnect your kettle, the last mode and temperature used are displayed (as previously memorised). - The jug is equipped with a stainless-steel filter, to block any limescale residue when pouring water. 1. Remove the jug from its power base and fully
The water level gauge will tell you how much water is in the kettle.
3. Close the lid by simply pressing down.
4. Plug in the power cord.
5. Place the kettle on the power base. If the temperature
of the water is below 10°C, "- -" will display on the screen.
6. Selecting the mode of preparation.
- To ensure you are in water mode, check that the tea display mode icon is not visible on the screen. If your appliance was previously in tea display mode, press the button for approximately 3 seconds to change to water mode.
- Select the required temperature using the Easy Select control switch (between 40 and 100°C). We recommend that you preheat your cup before brewing your tea to ensure the optimal temperature. Advice To ensure that the water heats to the required temperature, fill the kettle with at least 500 ml of water. You can also use your appliance to heat less water (in which case the temperature will be less accurate), but you must never go below the 250 ml level. Advice oPeRatinG youR aPPliance - Never fill the kettle through the spout. - When filling, it is important not to wet the handle, buttons, Easy Select control switch and screen. - Never fill the kettle beyond the 1.8 L mark. If the kettle is too full, boiling water may spill from the spout. Cleaning before first use
1. Remove the kettle from its power base.
3. Rinse the inside of the kettle with hot water. It is essential
to avoid wetting the entire handle.
4. Carefully dry the outside of the kettle.
5. Close the cover by simply pressing it back in place and stand

1. The outside of the kettle and power base should be cleaned
with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
2. Carefully wipe the power base before repositioning the jug.
After a certain amount of use, a thin film of limescale may form on the inside of your kettle. When this happens, we suggest descaling it. To do so:
1. Fill your kettle to the maximum (1.8L) level with 2 parts water
and 1 part vinegar. Never fill the kettle through the spout and avoid wetting the entire handle. Never fill the kettle through the spout and avoid wetting the entire handle.
2. Bring to the boil at 100°C and leave to stand overnight.
3. The next morning, empty the water and boil the kettle seve
ral times with fresh water at 100°C until the taste of vinegar has completely disappears. In case of heavy scaling, use a dedicated over-the-counter descaling product and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. PLEASE NOTE descalinG - Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning or caring for it. - Never immerse the power base, power cord or jug in water or any other liquid. - None of the parts that make up this appliance are dishwasher safe. - Never wash the exterior of the jug under running water. - Never expose the electrical connectors on the power base, jug, handle, control buttons, the Easy Select control switch or the digital display screen to moisture. - Do not use chemicals, abrasive cleaners or steel wool to clean the various parts of the appliance. - This kettle is equipped with an overheating safety system, which is triggered when the amount of water in the kettle is insufficient. When this happens, the kettle automatically stops working. It emits a long beep, and all lights go out immediately. The screen shows "-H-" for a few seconds before also being switched off. Remark: this safety sound signal is heard even when all sound signals have been deactivated.• Unplug and remove the kettle from its power base, and allow it to stand for at least 45 minutes before using it again. Tea = leaves and water Depending on the quality of your tap water, it may be necessary to filter it, or use mineral water instead. Using hard or chlorinated water would be an offense to your tea! Let your palate guide you... Depending on the tea, the shape of the leaves, the season or your personal taste, it is important to be able to adapt the brewing temperature. In general, the Chinese consider that boiling water deprives it of its life force. Others prefer to boil the water to "break the crust" and release the oxygen, then leave the water to cool to the desired tempe
rature. Each to his own method... Different types of teas Green tea Green tea is a great thirst-quencher and can be enjoyed throughout the day. It has draining proper
ties and is therefore ideal when dieting. Top quality green teas are among the most expen
sive in the world. Oolong tea Oolong tea is semi-fermented, and has a charac
teristic aroma of roasted chestnuts, hazelnuts, and honey. It is associated with the ideal of well-being and is also low in theine. As a result, it can be enjoyed in the evening with no risk of keeping you awake. Smoked tea Smoked tea is a black tea made from more mature, more powerful leaves. The smokiest teas are the powerful yet subtle Tarry teas. White tea Composed of buds and unfurled leaves from the newest growth of the tea plant. A rare and very refined tea. Yellow tea Composed almost exclusively of buds, yellow tea is a highly refined natural product. Flavoured teas These teas are flavoured with the essences of flowers or fruit, and it is precisely these refined aromas that are popular among tea lovers. The most famous scented leaf teas are Jasmin and Earl Grey, which are flavoured with bergamot orange. Red tea Rich in vitamins, low in caffeine, red tea does not in fact come from a tea shrub, but from a plant called Rooibos. It can be enjoyed throughout the day... The power is off. Make sure that the appliance's power cord is properly plugged into the power outlet. Alternatively, check the circuit breaker or fuses in your electrical system. When the kettle starts to heat, it emits a long beep and the heating cycle fails to begin. After this beep, the actual water temperature is displayed on the screen again. (This safety sound signal is heard even when all sounds have been deactivated). The temperature of the water is higher than the temperature you have selected Use cold water. The kettle is plugged in, but the lights and screen are off. The kettle automatically switches to standby mode after 10 minutes of non-use. Press one of the buttons or remove the jug from the base to exit standby mode. Malfunction icons Causes Solutions -H- The kettle contains too little or no water (see section entitled "Overheating Safety System"). Just as the kettle starts to heat, it stops working, emits a long beep and all lights go out immediately. The screen shows "-H-" for a few seconds before also being switched off. (This safety sound signal is heard even when all sounds have been deactivated). Unplug and remove the kettle from its power base, and allow it to stand for at least 45 minutes before using it again. Contact an Approved Riviera-et-Bar Service Centre. tRoubleshootinG Guide Signals indicating a malfunction Operating malfunctions Please observe the following recommendations: - You must not dispose of this appliance with your household waste. - A selective collection system for this type of product has been set up by French municipalities. You should therefore contact your local council to find out where it is located. Electrical and electronic products contain dangerous substances that have harmful effects on the environment or human health, and must therefore be recycled.
