How to use the Remington Advanced Coconut Therapy S8648 straightener?

Before use, ensure your hair is clean, dry and detangled. Plug in the device, press the On/Off button (⏻) to turn it on. Select the desired temperature using the +/- buttons. The display flashes until the temperature is reached. Work section by section, gliding the straightener without stopping. After use, press and hold the ⏻ button for 2 seconds to turn off, then unplug.

What temperature should I choose for my hair?

For fine, delicate or damaged hair, use a temperature between 150°C and 170°C. For normal, healthy hair, choose between 190°C and 210°C. For thick, very curly or hard-to-style hair, use between 210°C and 230°C. The highest temperatures are for experienced users.

How long does it take for the straightener to heat up?

The straightener heats up in 15 seconds. The digital display flashes during preheating and stops flashing once the selected temperature is reached.

How to activate the intelligent heat sensor?

Press the ∞ button to activate the intelligent heat sensor. An indicator light turns on to show that the sensor is controlling the plate temperature and continuously regulating heat to prevent overheating.

What to do if the device does not heat up?

Check that the device is properly plugged in and the outlet works. Make sure you turned it on by pressing and holding the ⏻ button. If the problem persists, the power cord may be damaged; stop using the device and contact Remington consumer service.

How to clean the straightener plates?

Yes, the straightener is dual voltage (120V-240V). You can use it abroad. However, at 120V, heat-up time and temperatures may vary.

How to lock the plates for storage?

After use and cooling, push the plate lock to the locked position to keep the plates together. To unlock, push the lock to the opposite position. Never heat the device when the plates are locked.

What does the lock symbol on the screen mean?

The lock symbol () indicates that the temperature controls are locked. To lock or unlock the controls, press the '-' button for 2 seconds. A padlock appears next to the temperature when locked.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been supervised/instructed and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children under 8 years.

Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

• Before use, ensure the hair is clean, dry and tangle-free.
- For extra protection use a heat protection spray.
- Hairsprays contain flammable material - do not use while using this product.
• Section the hair prior to styling. Style the lower layers first.

1. Plug the product into the mains power supply.

2. When your straightener is plugged in but not turned on the lock symbol 🔒 will come on to show that it is in standby mode.

3. Press and hold the on/off (⏻) button to switch on.

4. Select the appropriate temperature for your hair type using the "+" and "−" temperature controls on the side of the product. Start styling on lower temperatures first.

5. The “+” button will increase the temperature and the “−” button will decrease the temperature.

Caution: the hottest temperatures should only be used by experienced stylers.

1. The temperature display will flash until the selected temperature is reached.
2. Working on one section at a time run the straightener through the entire length of the hair, without stopping.
3. After use, press and hold the on/off (⏻) button for two seconds to turn off then unplug the appliance.

Intelligent Heat Sensor

• Press the ∞ button to activate the Intelligent Heat Sensor.
• If the sensor is on during styling, the indicator light will come on to show that the sensor is monitoring the plate temperature and continually regulating the heat output, helping prevent the damage caused by overheating. These temperature changes are not displayed on the product but happen quickly and automatically during styling.

Temperature Lock Function

• Set the desired temperature by pressing +/- buttons and lock the switch settings by pressing the '-' button for 2 seconds. A '🔒' symbol will appear on the temperature display.
• To unlock the switch settings, press and hold the '-' button again for 2 seconds.

Memory Function

• Each time you use the product it will automatically set itself to the last temperature used.

Temperature Boost Function

• For quick touch ups of stubborn, hard to style sections.
• The temperature boost function boosts the temperature to 230^ .
• Hold the “+” button for 2 seconds to operate.
• Caution: the highest temperature is not suitable for every hair type. If you plan to use this straightener on the boost setting of 230°C please test on a small section of your hair first.

STORAGE, CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Let the appliance cool down before cleaning and storing away

• Wipe all the surfaces with a damp cloth.
• Don't use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.

The plates can be locked together for easy storage:

To lock, close the plates and slide the hinge lock backwards (towards the cord) until it stops.

To unlock, slide the hinge lock forwards (towards the plates).

NOTE: Do not heat the unit in the locked position.
