Frequently Asked Questions - B1271A1DH Tripp Lite

How to install the B127-1A1-DH extender kit?
Ensure all equipment is powered off. Connect the DisplayPort source to the transmitter's INPUT port. For a local monitor, connect the transmitter's LOCAL port via an HDMI cable. Connect the transmitter to the receiver with a Cat6 cable (up to 38 m). Connect the receiver to a display via HDMI. Power on the displays, then the transmitter via the external power supply. Turn on the source. The LEDs indicate proper operation.
What Cat6 cable should I use for maximum performance?
Use a solid wire 24 AWG Cat6 cable (e.g., Tripp Lite N202 series). Stranded or higher gauge (26 AWG) cables reduce maximum distance.
What resolution and refresh rate are supported?
The kit supports 4K (3840x2160) at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, and lower resolutions. Ensure the monitor is set to HDMI 2.0 and 60 Hz.
Does the receiver require an external power supply?
No, thanks to Power-over-Cable (PoC) technology, the receiver is powered by the transmitter via the Cat6 cable. Only the transmitter requires the included power adapter.
Can I connect a local monitor in addition to the remote display?
Yes, the B127-1A1-DH transmitter has a dedicated LOCAL HDMI port. Connect an additional monitor via an HDMI 2.0 cable.
How to mount the transmitter or receiver?
Use the included hardware for wall, 19-inch rack, or pole mounting. Follow the diagrams in the manual to attach the brackets.
What to do if there is no image?
Check that all cables are securely connected. Ensure the monitor is set to HDMI 2.0 and 60 Hz. Enable UHD Deep Color if necessary. Test with a quality Cat6 cable.
What audio formats are supported?
The kit supports audio up to 7.1 channels, including LPCM, AC-3, and DTS.
What is the warranty on this product?
Tripp Lite offers a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. To activate the warranty, keep the proof of purchase.
Can I use an HDMI 1.4 cable?
For 4K at 60 Hz, a high-speed HDMI 2.0 cable is required (e.g., Tripp Lite P569 or P568 series). An HDMI 1.4 cable may limit resolution to 4K 30 Hz or 1080p.

Disclaimer

Before installation, please check the following settings of your source(s) and TV/monitor(s):

  1. Set monitor to display at 60 Hz. Double-check factory settings, as default may be set to a lower frequency (Hz).
  2. Ensure your monitor's input setting is set to HDMI 2.0. Some displays may have a default setting of HDMI 1.4
  3. Verify your monitor has the HDR feature enabled. Some displays may have this feature disabled as a default setting.
  4. Check if the Ultra HD (UHD) Deep Color setting is enabled on your TV/monitor. Confirm with your TV/monitor manufacturer which HDMI ports support UHD Deep Color.

Note: If you wish to connect a local monitor to your installation, depending on the make/model of your TV or monitor, the UHD Deep Color setting may need to be disabled on your local TV/monitor to achieve 4K 60 Hz resolution.

Standard Extender Kit Installation

Notes:

  • Test to ensure the entire installation works properly before pulling cables through ceilings/walls.
  • To achieve maximum distance and performance, use 24 AWG solid-wire Cat6 cable. Using stranded-wire Cat6 cable, or cable with a gauge (AWG) size higher than 24 AWG will result in shorter extension distance. Higher gauge cabling, such as 26 AWG, has a more limited transmission capability than lower gauge cabling. All Tripp Lite N202-Series Cat6 cables use 24 AWG solid-wire cabling.
    • The installation diagram shows a B127-1A1-DH unit.
  • External power is not required for the remote receiver due to Power over Cable (PoC) technology incorporated in the transmitter unit.
