Frequently Asked Questions - AC1375 IFM

What type of power supply is required for the AC1375?
A specific AS-i power supply (e.g. AC1216) is required. Standard switched-mode power supplies would suppress the AS-i data signals.
How to adjust the screen contrast?
Press the right button and the Δ button simultaneously to increase contrast, or the right button and the button to decrease it.
What does the illuminated PWR/COM LED mean?
The PWR/COM LED illuminated indicates that AS-i power is present and at least one slave has been detected.
How to navigate the gateway menu?
Use the left button MENU to open the main menu. The Δ and buttons allow navigation through options.
What is the maximum baud rate of the Profibus DP interface?
The baud rate can be set from 9600 baud to 12 MBaud, with maximum distance varying depending on the baud rate.
How to factory reset?
In the System setup menu, select the factory reset option. A password may be required.
Can I use a standard power supply for AS-i?
No, a specific AS-i power supply is essential. Standard switched-mode power supplies would regard the AS-i data signals as interference and suppress them.
How to address an AS-i slave?
In the Address slave menu, you can address a slave connected to the gateway or enable automatic addressing (easy startup).
What to do in case of a peripheral fault (CONF/PF LED flashing)?
The flashing CONF/PF LED indicates a fault on at least one slave. Check the Diagnostics or Slave Info menu to identify the faulty slave.
Where can I download the complete manual for the AC1375?
The manual is available for free in PDF format at notice-facile.com. You can download it directly or request a translation.

Function and features

  • The SmartLink DP integrates one AS-i master in accordance with the AS-i version 3.0 and a Profibus DP interface
  • It controls the exchange of data to the sensor/actuator level
  • communicates with the higher control level (in the gateway mode)

Profibus-DP interface

• Baud rate 9600 to 12 MBaud
• Electrical separation from the gateway power supply
- Up to 31 gateways connected in parallel
- Pin connection: pin 3: signal B, pin 8: signal A

- Max. distance between gateway and host: depending on the baud rate

Installation

Fix the SmartLink DP onto a 35 mm DIN rail which has an electrically safe ground connection. The protection rating of the unit is IP20, therefore it should be mounted in a protected location (e.g. control cabinet).

IFM AC1375 - Installation - 1

Ensure a condensation-free environment. Avoid excessive dust, vibration and shock. The air circulation through the vents must not be impeded.

Avoid installation in direct vicinity of frequency inverters.

Electrical connection

IFM AC1375 - Electrical connection - 1

Disconnect the installation from power. Connect the unit as indicated on the terminals. Never connect the minus potentials to each other or the minus potentials to the FE connection. Ensure an interference-free earth connection (low-noise earth) to the SmartLink DP terminal (FE: functional earthing). The terminal FE is internally connected to the housing and the Din rail clip.

Ensure that interference currents of other units are not discharged via this connection.

Operating and indicating elements

You are informed about the state of the master and the connected system by means of four diagnostic LEDs on the SmartLink DP.

  • LED PWR/COM lights: AS-i voltage present, at least one slave was detected
  • LED PWR/COM flashes: AS-i voltage present, but no slave was detected correctly
  • LED PROJ lights: Projection mode active, the configuration monitoring is deactivated
  • LED PROJ flashes: Projection mode active, switching to the protected mode not possible as a slave with the address 0 is connected.
  • LED CONF/PF lights: Projected and current configuration do not match
  • LED CONF/PF flashes: Peripheral fault on at least one connected slave
    • LED Profibus DP lights: Bus error Profibus DP

Operation

To operate an AS-i system a special AS-i power supply is r required (e.g. AC1216). The AS-i power supply supplies the yellow AS-i cable with energy and implements a data decoupling to the voltage r regulator of the power supply. Standard power supplies would consider the AS-i data signals as interference signals and suppress them.

IFM AC1375 - Operation - 1

Disconnect the power supply before e connecting the AS-i DP gateway.

IFM AC1375 - Operation - 2

The AS-i system is operated ungrounded. AS-i + and AS-i - are to be symmetrical to the ground potential of the installation.

Ensure a low-resistance connection of the symmetry point of the AS-i power supply (terminal "shield") to the ground of the installation.

Open the main menu by pressing the left button "MENU" in the start display.

To navigate within a menu point press the button or .

Press the buttons simultaneously to switch between the German and English menu.
