Do not move the appliance when it is operating. Do not use the appliance to mix boiling liquids. In the event of a fault or poor operation, switch the appliance off and have it checked by a competent qualified electrician(*). In case of need you should return the appliance to this electrician (www.ggv-service.de). OPERATION Before first time use, wash the refrigerating container, lid, spatula and handle with soapy water and rinse them carefully (the water temperature must not exceed 40°C): before use dry them carefully. Ice cream is sensitive to bacteria: every time you use the ice cream maker, check that the utensils are very clean and dry. Do not submerge the motor body in water or other liquids; clean it with a slightly damp cloth. The motor body has a push switch: press it to switch the motor 0-I (on/off). All the accessories (lid, spatula) fit to the motor body: before using them, check that they are well attached. First of all fit the motor unit together with the lid (see pages 2-3) and make sure the pins on the motor unit insert into the slots of the lid. Then insert the spatula into the hole on the motor unit. After use, disassemble all the accessories. First, remove the spatula, then press slightly the pins of the motor unit to separate it from the lid. Put the handle and the freezing bowl onto the housing. Fit the lid to the handle and housing. To remove the lid, proceed inversely. Copies of the I/B. Please reproduce them without any changes except under special instruction from Team International BELGIUM. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 Freezing the refrigerating container Check that the freezer can reach –18°C and set the thermostat so that this temperature is guaranteed. Ice cream cannot be made if this temperature is not reached. Place the freezing bowl in a plastic bag to protect yourself against cold “burns”. Place the container into the coldest compartment of the freezer, and ensure that: - It is in a vertical position, and especially not upside down - There is sufficient space all around - Nothing is inside it. Depending on the quantity of ice cream and the freezer temperature, leave the container in the freezer for 10 or 12 hours, in other words according to the amount of ice cream to prepare (500g or 800g) and the temperature (-18°C or even less). The operation volume of the ice cream machine is 800ml. Check that the cooling liquid inside the container is frozen: it must be completely solid. If you always keep the container in the freezer, it can be used when needed, without waiting for the solidification time of the refrigerating liquid. Ice cream preparation To prepare ice cream mixtures, follow the recipes below. All the recipes can be used, on condition that no more than 0.8 litres of ingredients are involved. The room temperature must be lower than 25°C during preparation: if this is not the case, an optimal result cannot be guaranteed.
1. Before removing the container from the freezer, prepare the ice cream mixture in a
bowl. Put the mixture into the refrigerator to cool it for 20 hours at 3 to 5°C.
2. Remove the refrigerating container from the freezer (wear gloves or use a cloth to
avoid cold “burns”) and place it on a stable support base. The container should be used immediately after removal from the freezer.
3. Fit the lid, motor unit and spatula together (see paragraph “OPERATION”). Fix the lid
to the housing with handle and freezing bowl.
4. Put the plug into the current socket and press the 0/I button to “I” to make the
spatula rotate. Now, immediately but gradually pour the ice cream mixture into the container through the hole in the lid, without dripping and wetting the motor: the mixture must not pass over half the volume of the container. Mix for around 25-30 minutes: the time depends on the desired consistency (the longer the time, the more frozen the product will be). Remember that homemade ice cream does not have the same consistency as that bought in a shop; in fact, it is softer.
5. During preparation, you can add fine chocolate chips, raisins or other ingredients:
alcoholic liquids are added almost at the end (they slow down cooling).
6. At the end, turn off using the switch, remove the plug from the socket and lift the lid to
remove it from the bowl. To serve the cold dessert, remove it using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon (do not use metal objects). Now serve immediately.
7. The ice cream can be left in the container to become hard in the freezer for a brief
period (no longer than 30 minutes). For long term freezing, we recommend using a container with a lid (several hours in the freezer are necessary for the ice cream to become hard). The conservation period can be 1 or 2 weeks. This time depends on whether the ingredients used are “natural” or “semi-cooked”.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning the appliance, switch it off and remove the plug from the current socket. It is important for the container and all the components to be well washed immediately after use, to prevent the formation of bacteria or unpleasant smells. When cleaning the container, spatula, lid and housing, use water with a normal detergent for dishes, and rub with a soft sponge (do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive products). Rinse carefully and dry completely. The temperature of the water must not exceed 40°C. Copies of the I/B. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 Clean the motor body with a soft, slightly damp cloth; do not use abrasive or corrosive products. Periodically check that the electrical cord is not damaged. A special tool is needed to replace it: contact an authorised assistance centre also for any necessary repairs. When you decide to dispose of the appliance, please go to a municipal collecting point. We recommend that you make the appliance inoperative by cutting the power cord (but first make sure you have removed the plug from the electrical outlet), and that you do not break open the refrigerating container.
