Frequently Asked Questions - Wildlife 10x42 Steiner

How to attach the carrying strap with the ClicLoc system?
To attach the strap, insert the clip's lug into the binocular's eyelet until it clicks into place with an audible click. To detach, press the indicated point on the rubber armoring. The lug must always face outward.
How to adjust the eyecups for eyeglass wearers?
The eyecups can be adjusted in different positions: ergonomic, cylindrical, or for eyeglass wearers. For eyeglass wearers, use position 9 (folded eyecups) to bring the eye closer to the eyepiece.
How to adjust the focus on Sports-Auto-Focus binoculars?
First set the diopter corrections to '0'. Choose a distant object (about 200 m). Cover the left objective lens and turn the right diopter correction until you get a sharp image. Repeat for the left eye. Then vision is sharp from 20 m to infinity without further adjustment.
How to clean the binocular lenses?
First remove dust with a brush. Then use a soft cloth, possibly damp, to wipe the lenses avoiding scratches. For salt water, first rinse with a damp cloth then wipe with a dry cloth.
What to do if the image is not sharp despite Sports-Auto-Focus?
If vision is not sharp, you probably have a visual impairment. Follow the diopter adjustment procedure: adjust each eyepiece individually by covering the opposite objective, as described in the manual. Ensure the interpupillary distance is correctly adjusted.
What accessories are included with the Wildlife 10x42 binoculars?
Included accessories are a carrying strap (with ClicLoc system), a neoprene protective case, a rain cap, and snap-on ClicLoc objective lens covers.
How to maintain the rubber armoring of the binoculars?
The rubber armoring can be cleaned with liquid soap and running water for waterproof models. To seal small capillary cracks due to UV, use a dashboard aerosol cleaner or Nigrin plastic care product.
Where is the serial number of Steiner binoculars located?
The serial number is located depending on the model at the front end of the binoculars axis between the objectives, below the axis, or in the objective lens. It allows identification of the device in case of loss or theft.
What to do if there is a problem with the binoculars?
Contact a trusted dealer or contact Steiner customer service by phone at +49 921 7879-851 or by email at customer-service@steiner.de. The warranty does not cover wear parts such as armoring, straps, eyecups, or caps.
Are the binoculars waterproof?
Yes, Steiner binoculars are waterproof to immersion. They can be rinsed with running water and liquid soap for maintaining the rubber armoring. However, be sure to close the battery compartment if applicable.

With ClicLoc System:

To loosen the carrying strap and unlatch the lock, press and hold the marked oval position on the rubber armouring ①. The snap fit can now be pulled off and/or inserted. Make sure that the catch is always facing outwards and that it audibly engages while being inserted.

Without ClicLoc system:

Please loosen one end of the strap from the side loop and feed the strap from the top through the eyelet. Now pull the carrying strap through the slide loop again and pull firmly on the strap to tighten it. Repeat these steps to fasten the other end of the strap in the same way.

  2. Cover the left objective with your hand or the objective protection cover and look through the binoculars.
  3. Now turn the dioptre setting on the right ocular until you can see an entirely sharp and clear image with your right eye.

Cleaning/Maintenance and Important Product Information:

Cleaning your binoculars:

Remove dust and loose dirt on the lenses with a brush. Then use only a soft, possibly damp cloth to wipe the lenses. Failure to use a soft cloth can scratch the lenses. Wipe off salt water with a damp cloth then use a dry cloth to wipe the lenses.

Care for the rubber armouring:

Binoculars resistant to water pressure may be rinsed under running water using liquid soap. To close smaller hairline cracks that may be caused by UV radiation the rubber armouring should be treated with Cockpit Spray or Nigrin Plastic Care.

Product Serial Number:

All STEINERs have their own serial number. This allows you to ascertain when your binoculars were produced and it also provides a way (following the registration on the STEINER website) to identify them in case of loss or theft. You can find the serial number of your binoculars (depending on the model) at the front end of the binoculars' axis, between the objectives 18, on the underside of the binoculars' axis 19 or in the objective le ns 20.

Important Safety Note:

Never look directly into the sun with your binoculars! This may cause serious damage to your eyes and possibly lead to blindness!

Please understand that we cannot accept warranty claims for wear parts such as rubber armouring, carrying straps, eyecups or protective caps. Should you encounter any problems while using your binoculars please contact your specialised dealer or our
