Frequently Asked Questions - BPK742280B AEG

How to set the time on the oven?
After first connection, the display shows a welcome message. Navigate to the Settings menu then Current time to set the time. Confirm with OK.
What to do if the oven does not heat up?
First check that the clock is set, the door is properly closed, and the fuse has not tripped. If child safety is activated, deactivate it. Refer to the Troubleshooting chapter in the manual.
How to use the meat probe?
Insert the probe into the thickest part of the food. Plug it into the front socket of the oven. Select a cooking mode, set the oven temperature (min. 120 °C) and the desired core temperature. Press START. A sound signal sounds when the temperature is reached.
How to clean the oven with pyrolysis?
Remove all accessories and shelf supports. Select Cleaning in the menu, then choose the duration: fast (1 h), normal (1 h 30 min), or intensive (3 h). The door locks automatically. Once finished, wipe the ashes with a damp cloth.
How to disassemble the oven door for cleaning?
Open the door fully, lift the locking levers on the hinges, then close the door to 70°. Hold it on both sides and remove it by lifting. Place it on a soft cloth. Remove the trim and glass panels by releasing them from the guide. Clean with soapy water and reassemble in reverse order.
How to activate child safety?
In the Options menu, select Child safety and activate it. When the oven is turned on, an alphabetical code appears; select the letters in alphabetical order to unlock. The door remains locked even when the oven is off.
Which cooking mode to choose for a cake?
For sponge cake or classic cake, use Top/Bottom heat or Fan-assisted (reduce temperature by 20-40 °C). For pies with crispy base, prefer Bottom heat or Pizza function.
How to save energy with this oven?
Use the Moist air circulation function which reduces consumption. Do not preheat systematically, use residual heat by turning off 3-10 min before the end, and keep dishes warm at low temperature. Turn off the light during cooking.
What to do if an error code like C2 or F111 appears?
Code C2 means that the meat probe was left in the oven during pyrolysis: remove it. C3 indicates that the door is not properly closed. F111 means that the probe is not fully inserted into the socket. Follow the instructions in the Troubleshooting chapter.
How to replace the oven light bulb?
Turn off and unplug the oven. For the top lighting, turn the glass diffuser, replace with a 300 °C resistant bulb (identical type). For the side lighting, remove the left shelf support, then the glass cover with a flat object. Replace the bulb and reassemble.

13.2 Energy saving

AEG BPK742280B - Energy saving - 1

The oven has features which help you save energy during everyday cooking.

Make sure that the oven door is closed when the oven operates. Do not open the oven door too often during cooking. Keep the door gasket clean and make sure it is well fixed in its position.

Use metal cookware to improve energy saving.

When possible, do not preheat the oven before cooking.

Keep breaks between baking as short as possible when you prepare a few dishes at one time.

Cooking with fan

When possible, use the cooking functions with fan to save energy.

Residual heat

If a programme with the Duration or End Time selection is activated and the cooking time is longer than 30 min, the heating elements automatically turn off earlier in some oven functions.

The fan and lamp continue to operate. When you turn off the oven, the display shows the residual heat. You can use that heat to keep the food warm.

When the cooking duration is longer than 30 min, reduce the oven temperature to minimum 3 - 10 min before the end of cooking. The residual heat inside the oven will continue to cook.

Use the residual heat to warm up other dishes.

Keep food warm

Choose the lowest possible temperature setting to use residual heat and keep a meal warm.

The residual heat indicator or temperature appears on the display.

Cooking with the lamp off

Turn off the lamp during cooking. Turn it on only when you need it.

Moist Fan Baking

Function designed to save energy during cooking.

When you use this function the lamp automatically turns off after 30 sec. You may turn on the lamp again but this action will reduce the expected energy savings.
