General Safety
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "appliance" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) appliance or battery operated (cordless) appliance.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate appliances in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Appliances create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating an appliance. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Appliance plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) appliances. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose appliances to rain or wet conditions. Water entering an appliance other than wet vacuuming will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the appliance. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating an appliance outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating an appliance in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating an appliance. Do not use an appliance while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating appliances may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the OFF-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying appliances with your finger on the switch or energising appliances that have the switch ON invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the appliance ON. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the appliance may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the appliance in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
4) Appliance use and care
a) Do not force the appliance. Use the correct appliance for your application. The correct appliance will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the appliance if the switch does not turn it ON and OFF. Any appliance that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing appliances. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the appliance accidentally.
d) Store idle appliances out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the appliance or these instructions to operate the appliance. Appliances are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain appliances and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the appliance's operation. If damaged, have the appliance repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained appliances.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the appliance, accessories and tool bits, etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the appliance for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
5) Service
a) Have your appliance serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the appliance is maintained.
Wet & Dry Vacuum Safety
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before opening the unit, cleaning, carrying out maintenance, or when the unit is not in use.
a) NEVER pull on the power cable to remove the plug from the power point. This could cause damage to the power cable, the vacuum cleaner and the power point.
b) DO NOT allow the vacuum to pass over the power cable. This could cause damage to the internal wires.
c) DO NOT vacuum the following items:
-
burning matches
glowing ashes
cigarette ends
corrosives -
flammable, combustible or explosive substances
d) Use this product only for the purposes for which it is intended. Other applications may be dangerous, and lead to serious injury and/or property damage.
e) Take great care when cleaning stairs. Ensure the vacuum is placed on a secure, lower level, to avoid the danger of the vacuum falling on to the user.
f) Use ONLY genuine Silverline consumables, attachments and spare parts

Unpacking Your Tool
- Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and functions
- Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Assembly
- Use the Clips (3) to remove the Motor Assembly (2) from the Tank (7) (image B) and remove the accessories supplied in the Tank body
- Turn the Tank upside down and fit the 4 Castor Mounts (9) on the base of the Tank with the screws provided
- Holding each Caster Mount in turn push fit the Casters (13) into the Caster Mounts until each Castor is secure and the tank is level on the floor when turned upright. Be careful not to use excessive force that could damage the Tank or Caster Mounts
- For normal vacuuming, the Dust Bag (11) should be fitted. The bag fits over the connector inside the Tank (image F). Hold the cardboard collar of the Dust Bag and push onto the connector. For maximum suction the Filter can be removed when a Dust Bag is fitted
- Refit the Motor Assembly to the Tank and secure with the Clips
The foam Filter (10) normally comes pre-fitted. When worn or damaged remove the existing Filter and fit the new Filter by sliding it gently over the filter frame (image E) - Insert the connector of the Hose (12) to the Hose Socket (6) by aligning the pins of the connector with the socket and pushing in then turn the connector clockwise
- Use the Hose Tubes (16) to extend length of the hose
- Fit accessory to the end of the Hose or Hose Tube if required, either the Brush Tool (14) or the Crevice Tool (15)
Note: Fine dust must not be allowed to enter the motor assembly as it could damage the motor. Normal household dust, plaster and other fine dust require a Dust Bag (11) to be fitted. For vacuuming liquid and some larger soft particles (larger wood chippings for example) a Dust Bag is not required. If the Filter (10) is collecting dust on its surface then a Dust Bag must be fitted. ALWAYS PROTECT THE MOTOR from fine dust.
Dust extraction
- The vacuum is suitable for dust extraction with portable, bench or floor-mounted power tools that have a dust port. A small adaptor may be required to match the tool's dust port diameter to the hose diameter (see specification)
- The power switch of the vacuum is the latching type that will remain in the ON position when mains power is interrupted. This enables it to be used with 'switchboxes' so the vacuum starts with the power tool when the switchbox is operated. The vacuum has a power rating of 1000W/4.3A. If a switchbox is used with the vacuum and a power tool, ensure the switchbox or the mains socket is not overloaded with the combined power rating value of the vacuum (1000W/4.3A) and the power tool.
Wet vacuuming
For wet vacuuming remove the Dust Bag (11) and make sure the Filter (10) is fitted
Blowing
- Setup as per normal vacuuming except remove the Hose from the Hose Socket (6) and fit to the rear of the Motor Assembly (image A)
- Blowing may be more effective with the Dust Bag (11) removed
Operation
Switching ON & OFF
- Connect the mains plug of the power cable to a mains socket and switch ON the vacuum by pressing in the ON Switch (5)
- To switch OFF press the OFF Switch (4)
Dry vacuum cleaning
- The vacuum suction power can be varied with the sliding cover on the hose (image C) by opening for less suction and closing for more suction
- As the Dust Bag (11) gets full, suction will reduce and the bag will need replacing
Wet vacuum cleaning
WARNING: When vacuuming liquid there is a greater electrical safety risk as the Tank fills with liquid. It is recommended the vacuum is only connected to a mains supply with an integrated RCD on its circuit or with an additional plug-in RCD.
IMPORTANT: The vacuum is equipped with a float mechanism that indicates when the tank is full of liquid (image E right side). When the motor noise changes and becomes a higher pitch, switch the vacuum OFF immediately and empty the Tank.
- Fit the required accessory or use the bare hose connector. The Brush Tool (14) has a squeezegee bar (image D) for helping to collect liquid on a surface for easy vacuuming
- When vacuuming, try to create an easy passage for the liquid by keeping the hose more horizontal than vertical
- Always empty the Tank after use
- Dry the inside of the Tank and refit the Dust Bag (11) for dry vacuum cleaning
Blowing
WARNING: Do not point the end of the Hose towards any person or animal; debris/particles may be ejected from the hose end, especially when first switched ON. ALWAYS wear safety googles to protect eyes.
The blowing function can be used for clearing surfaces, inflating low pressure devices (normally inflated by mouth), and for cooling surfaces.
Accessories
- A range of accessories and consumables, including filters and dust bags, is available from your Silverline stockist. Spare parts can be obtained from toolsparsonline.com
Maintenance
The motor requires no maintenance or additional lubrication. There are no user serviceable parts within the motor assembly.
General inspection
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. If the power cable cannot be repaired or replaced to original specification the appliance should be scrapped.
Cleaning
WARNING: Before cleaning, ensure the appliance is OFF then remove the power plug from the wall socket.
Clean the vacuum body with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent. Do not use alcohol, petrol or strong cleaning agents
- Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts
Filter cleaning
Note: A clogged filter will cause suction power and cleaning efficiency to deteriorate. Check whether the Filter (10) is dirty if performance deteriorates.
- Remove the Filter then clean using a light brush and the vacuum in blower mode
Hose blockages
- The hose can be moved to the blower position to remove some blockages. Ensure the hose is pointed away from people or animals as the blockage may exit the hose with some force. The hose end can be lightly tapped against a surface to aid removal
Storage
- Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children. The Hose Tubes (16) and one of the brush accessories can be stored in Accessory Holders (8) at the top of the Caster Mounts (9), which will create a recess around the body of the tool for storing the mains cable
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer functional and are not viable for repair.
- Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), with household waste
- Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct way to dispose of power tools
Troubleshooting
