Many thanks for selecting a EUROM Weedburner. You have made a very good choice! We hope that you will be completely satisfied with the product.

In order to get the very best from your weed burner, it is important that you read and make sure you understand this instruction leaflet thoroughly and completely before use. Pay particular attention to the safety instructions; these are provided in order to protect you and your environment!

Keep the instruction leaflet somewhere safe so that you can consult it in future. Keep the packaging: this is the best protection for your weed burner when storing it out of season. If you ever lend your weed burner to someone else, please provide them with the instructions too.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The device;

  1. Set up the device as instructed in this leaflet.
  2. Do not change anything on the device and only use the accessories supplied by the manufacturer.
  3. Only use the device as set out in this leaflet.
  4. Do not carry out your own repairs but ask a qualified engineer and always use original parts.
Failing to comply with points 2, 3 and 4 could lead to extremely dangerous situations and will nullify the guarantee and the supplier's liability.

Connecting the gas bottle:

  1. Never attach a gas-powered device to a gas bottle before reading the instructions!
  2. Check the gas hose carefully before each use and do not use if you discover damage or wear and tear.
  3. Make sure that all equipment is ready for use before you connect the gas bottle.
  4. Connect the gas hose to the burner first, and then to the gas bottle.
  5. The best course of action is to connect the gas bottle outdoors but, otherwise, use a well-ventilated space, away from any naked flames, any source of sparks or ignition and electrical devices. Make sure that there are no other people nearby.

  6. Never smoke when working with a gas device, especially when connecting the gas bottle.

  7. Make sure that all taps and connectors on the device and gas bottle are undamaged, secured properly and closed.

  8. Check, after connection, to ensure there are no leaks and make sure that every connection is gas-tight before using the burner.

  9. Protect the gas bottle from temperature increases. Protect gas hoses against heat and damage. Replace parts in good time.

  10. Gas hoses must be replaced within 5 years of manufacture. In the event of intensive use or exposure to non-optimum conditions (heat, cold, sheds, etc) they should be replaced more frequently. You are advised to replace the hose once every three years.

During use:

  1. Position the device so that it cannot fall over. This also applies to the gas bottle: in order to prevent gas escaping, it must always be stable and straight (or very slightly tilted at most). Never lie a gas bottle down during use and never turn it upside down.
  2. Make sure that it is steady during use and placed on a stable surface. Bear in mind that you are working with gas and fire: do not wear long or loose-fitting clothing, a scarf, belt, etc and always tie long hair back. Prevent anything that could present a problem coming within the vicinity of the flame (e.g. blown by the wind, in the wake of a passing car, etc.)
  3. Keep the weed burner pointing downwards and away from yourself during use.
  4. Never use the device below ground level.
  5. Never use the device in the vicinity of other heat sources or naked flames.
  6. Do not use the device in enclosed spaces; make sure there is always adequate ventilation.
  7. Never use the device in the vicinity of flammable materials or oil etc. Always wear oil-free clothing during use.
  8. You weed burner emits a powerful flame. During use, be aware of this and keep the flame away from fences, sheds and all other flammable items.
  9. Do not inhale the vapours that are emitted during use.
  10. Prevent tension on the hose due to twists, pinches etc.
  11. Switch the burner off immediately if you are not using it and shut the tap on the gas bottle. Never leave the device unattended, even if it is turned off. Extinguishing the flame could lead to gas escaping and could create hazardous situations.
  12. Keep the device out of the reach of children.
  13. Keep bystanders at a safe distance during use
  14. If you connect a new gas bottle, the temperature difference could lead to a difference in the flame. This will cease after a short period.
  15. Caution! The flame and specific parts of this device could become very hot during use and cause fires. Do not touch these parts during and shortly after use as this could lead to injury and/or damage. Be particularly careful when children and dependent or vulnerable people are nearby.
  16. Ensure that there is careful supervision when this device is used in the presence of children, incapable individuals or pets. The device is not suitable for use by persons (including children) with a physical, sensual or mental limitation or a lack of experience and knowledge, irrespective of whether they are being supervised or have been issued with instructions in relation to the use of the device by a person who is responsible for their safety. Always ensure that children cannot play with the device.

THE WEED BURNER

Field of application:

Your weed burner is meant to be used to kill weeds by burning them. All other uses require additional safety measures; the fact that the weed burner is not made to fulfil these

requirements means that it must not be used for other purposes and that these fall outside the supplier's field of responsibility.

This device is supplied with a pressure regulator of 2.5 Bar; this fulfils Dutch requirements. The device is thus suitable for the Dutch market. Only use the device with this pressure regulator!

An extra, external hose-breakage protector can be used between the regulator and hose; this prevents gas escaping by automatically shutting off the gas supply if the hose is damaged (optional).

Technical data:

The weed burner works on propane and butane and must be connected to a regular 11kg (or a 5kg) gas bottle.

Flame temperature: to 650°C (1202°F)

Gas type: propane or butane

Gas pressure: to 2.5 bar (adjustable)

Gas hose: 5 metres, 3/8" screw fitting on both ends.

Dimensions: 94 cm.

Weight: 865 gram

Description:

  1. Hose connection
  2. Ignition button
  3. Gas supply regulation tap
  4. Handle
  5. Burner nozzle

INSTRUCTION FOR USE

  • Connect the pressure regulator to the gas bottle.
  • Connect the hose breakage protector to the regulator (if using)

  • Connect the gas hose to the pressure regulator (or the hose breakage protector) and the handle; the thread on the hose connector turns to the left.

  • Check to make sure that all connections are secure and then carry out a leak test (see: GAS LEAK TEST). If you do not find any leaks, you may start up the device.

- Make sure that all taps and valves are closed.

- First open the tap on the gas bottle.

- Now slightly open the gas supply regulator tap on the handle (turn to the left). If you open this too far, the gas pressure will blow out your flame! Let the air escape from the hose and device and wait until you hear the hissing sound of escaping gas.

- Now press the red ignition button to ignite the flame at the end of the lance. A yellow, 'rustling' flame will now appear (the 'break' flame).

- Increase gas pressure by further opening the regulator on the handle (to the left). The flame will expand but stay yellow and flickering. Prevent the flame getting too large as this will reduce effectiveness and temperature.

- Squeezing the handle will set the burner to full power and create a sleek, blue flame. The output depends on how far the tap has been opened.

- Point the flame downwards and away from you.

- Position the flame around 10 to 15cm above the weed and heat it until it shrinks back. Move the flame gently back and forth. This is all you need to do; the weeds will die back after a few days. Stubborn weeds may require a second treatment.

- Release the handle to briefly interrupt work; the gas supply will reduce and the yellow 'break' flame will return. Decrease gas pressure, if necessary, by tightening the regulator tap.

- If you wish to stop working, turn the gas bottle tap until it closes. Let the weed burner burn off the gas from the hose and it will then go out. Now you can turn the handle to the right to close.

- Take care! The weed burner gets very hot during use! Leave it in a safe place where it cannot cause any damage; leave to cool before disconnecting and clearing away.

- Take care! Never leave the 'break' flame on if you are stopping work for more than a few seconds and are setting the weed burner aside!!!

- If you stop work or take a longer break, or you need to move the device, you must disconnect the hose from the gas bottle. Always transport a gas bottle in the upright position!

- Never try to refill a gas bottle or change it in any way!

GAS LEAK TEST

Before every use, carry out a gas leak test:

  • Make sure that the gas supply is closed.
  • Carry out the check with a full gas bole.
  • Make a soapy soluon using one part liquid soap to one part water.
  • Apply the soap soluon to the whole system, particularly the connexons, the hose connexons and the possible locaon of a leak, using a spray bole, brush or cloth.

Eurom Weedburner XXL - GAS LEAK TEST - 1

natural_image Illustration of a hand using a tool to lift a hose, showing spray and cleaning process (no text or symbols)
  • Open the gas supply. If there is a leak, you will see soap bubbles forming.
  • If there is a leak, turn o the gas supply. Tighten the leaking component, switch on the gas supply and check it again. If bubbles are sll created, contact your supplier.
  • Never test for a gas leak using a naked ame! Make sure that there are no ames or sparks in the vicinity when you are carrying out the leak test and do not smoke! If you smell gas during use or suspect a gas leak, disconnect the gas bottle immediately, take the device outdoors and carry out a gas leak test.

STORING THE GAS BOTTLE

Bear the following instructions in mind when storing the gas bottle:

  • Make sure the gas tap is closed and remove the regulator.
  • Keep the gas bottle outdoors or in a well-ventilated space. Propane can be exposed to frost; the temperature must remain above 5^ C for butane.
  • Never store gas bottles below ground or in the vicinity of a cellar hatch or similar. Gas is heavier than air and could sink into the cellar.
  • Never store a gas bottle near a source of heat.
  • Make sure that the gas bottle is stable and in an upright position.
  • Keep flammable materials out of the vicinity of the gas bottle.
  • Keep gas bottles out of the reach of children.

DISPOSAL

Eurom Weedburner XXL - DISPOSAL - 1

When the weed burner has reached the end of its useful life (or is damaged beyond repair), do not dispose of it with the household waste.
