ADVANTAGES OF SLOW COOKING

  • Turn on your slow cooker in the morning before you go out and when come back home, your hot and tasty meal is ready. Thanks to the slow cooking process you will discover how the less expensive cuts of meat

will be much more tender and tasty, coming away from the bone alone.

  • The slow cooker frees your oven and stove top for other uses, and it should always be considered as an option for large gatherings or holiday meals with relatives or friends.
  • You can also use the slow cooker to keep hot food always the perfect temperature for serving it on the table, thanks to its removable pot.

BEFORE FIRST USE

WARNING! Before proceeding, make sure that the product is unplugged.

The temperature selector (10) can be used to adjust the cooking temperature to the maximum (HIGH) and minimum (LOW) temperature or to set the keep warm function (WARM): this process will automatically turn off after 20 hours.
  • Select the time referring to your recipe (see "Conversion Chart" paragraph for reference).
  • HIGH mode (A) has a time range of 2-20 hours, LOW (B) can be set to a time range of 2-20 hours. The default time for HIGH cooking mode is 6 hours while LOW is 8h. Keep warm (C) will last up to 20 hours before the unit turns off automatically.

SLOW COOKING TIPS

  • Natural cheeses will break during slow cooking process. If your recipe calls for cheese, it is recommended to add it during the last hour of the cooking process. Milk will curdle over long cooking times, but you can substitute evaporated milk or stir in heavy cream or sour cream during the last hour as well.
  • Fish and seafood tend to cook faster than meat and should be added later while preparing a soup or a broth.
  • Brown the meat helps to reduce the fat and improve the flavor and texture but it is not always necessary. Thanks to the condensation inside the cooking pot of your slow cooker, you can reduce the addition of liquid if you are preparing sauces or meat sauces (such as ragout).
  • Root vegetables (such as potatoes, carrots and turnips) should be cut into small pieces of about 1-inch,

resting them on the bottom of the pot so they start cooking as soon as the liquid will heat up.

  • Always defrost meat before putting it in the unit.
  • Fill cooker no less than half full and no more than two-thirds full.
  • It is recommended to use herbs and spices in whole leaf when cooking all day. The herbs can be moved only in the last hour of cooking process because otherwise their aroma might overwhelm the flavor of the other ingredients. Dried beans must be boiled in water until they are softer.
  • Pasta must be left "al dente" prior to adding to the slow cooker, unless the recipe states otherwise.
