2. Intended purpose

Congratulations on the purchase of your new car heating mat.

For a safe handling of the device and in order to get to know the entire scope of features:

• Thoroughly read these user instructions prior to initial use.
• Above all, observe the safety instructions!
  The device should only be used as described in these user instructions.
• Keep these user instructions for reference.
• If you pass the device on to someone else, please include this copy of the user instructions. The user instructions are a part of the product.

We hope you enjoy using your new car heating mat!

This car heating mat is used to heat the human body during the car ride.

The device is intended for private use only, not for commercial use or use in hospitals.

2.1 Markings on the device

You will find the following markings on the label:

The car heating mat must never be used by children under the age of 3 years.

Please follow the instructions for use.

The car heating mat must never be penetrated by needles.

The car heating mat must never be washed.

2.2 Foreseeable misuse

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning

Children under the age of 3 years, people with restricted freedom of movement and animals must not be placed on the car heating mat, since they may not be able to make themselves noticed when the mat gets too hot.

3. Safety instructions

Warnings

If necessary, the following warnings will be used in these user instructions:

DANGER! High risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury to life and limb.

WARNING! Moderate risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury or serious material damage.

CAUTION: low risk: failure to observe this warning may result in minor injury or material damage.

NOTE: circumstances and specifics that must be observed when handling the device.

Instructions for safe operation

Children younger than 3 years are not permitted to use this device, since they are unable to react to excessive heat.
This device can be used by children from the age of 8 and people with restricted physical, sensory or intellectual abilities or people without adequate experience and/ or understanding, if they are supervised or instructed on how to use this device safely and if they are aware of the resulting danger.
- The device is provided with heatable surfaces. The device must not be used by persons insensitive to heat and those unable to react to excessive heat. Furthermore, it must not be used after the ingestion of pain relievers or alcohol.
Children must not play with the device.
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless they are supervised.
Prior to every cleaning, disconnect the 12-V plug from the 12-V socket.
- Never immerse the device in water, and protect it from drips and splashes.
The device must not be used when wet.
If the device is not in use, store it as follows:
- Let the device cool before folding it;
- Avoid sharp bending of the device by depositing objects on it during storage.
- Check the device often for signs of wear or damage. Should such signs exist or the device not be used as intended or the device malfunction, it must be returned to the dealer before using it again.

DANGER for children

Children must not play with packing material. Do not allow children to play with plastic bags. There is a risk of suffocation.
- Keep the device out of the reach of children.

General

In order to avoid property damage, mind the following provisions: never use any abrasive, corrosive or scratching cleaning agents.
Please take note that every claim under warranty and liability expires if accessories are used, which are not recommended in these user instructions or if spare parts used for repairs are not exclusively original spare parts. This also applies to repairs performed by unqualified persons.
In case of possible malfunctions during the warranty period, the repair of the device must always be performed by our Service Center. Otherwise any warranty claim expires.
Ensure that the cable of the vehicle plug will never turn into a trip hazard or that somebody becomes entangled in the same or is able to step on it.
The device must only be operated under supervision. Major damage such as overheating usually makes itself known by odour development.
If the device is powered via the cigarette lighter socket for an extended period of time, ensure that the car battery will never be discharged completely in the process.
The device must not be operated close to heat sources, or in direct sunlight to prevent overheating.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock

• Never use the device or parts thereof if it is damaged. In this case, have the device repaired by qualified personnel.
  The device must never be penetrated by water or other liquids. Therefore:

• never use outdoors;

• never use in a very moist environment;
• never use the device to deposit beverages or other liquids;
• always keep the vehicle cable away from moisture.

If, nevertheless, liquid should penetrate the device, disconnect the power connector immediately and have the device repaired by qualified personnel.
Should the device not be used for an extended period of time, disconnect the vehicle cable. Only then is the device completely de-energised and protected against accidental starting.

DANGER in road traffic

For vehicles with side airbags, the upper fastening belt may only be used to a limited extent (see "Fastening the car heating mat" on page 36).
Ensure that the heat will not make you drowsy. Otherwise switch off the car heating mat immediately and take a break.
In case of questions regarding the airbag, read the user instructions of your vehicle and or ask your vehicle repair shop.
- Never operate the device in the car during the ride. The possible distraction may endanger road safety. If you would like to change the settings, stop the car to do so.
For vehicles with side airbags, the upper fastening belt may only be used to a limited extent (see "Fastening the car heating mat" on page 36).
Ensure that the heat will not make you drowsy. Otherwise switch off the car heating mat immediately and take a break.
In case of questions regarding the airbag, read the user instructions of your vehicle and or ask your vehicle repair shop.
- Never operate the device in the car during the ride. The possible distraction may endanger road safety. If you would like to change the settings, stop the car to do so.

WARNING! Risk of material damage

Only switch on the car heating mat, if it is unfolded.
Do not deposit suitcases or similar on the car heating mat. Corners or edges may damage the product.
Ensure that the 12-V plug is firmly seated in the 12-V socket. Otherwise, a loose contact may switch the device frequently on and off, which may lead to overheating.

5. Unpacking and connecting

Unpacking

1. Remove all parts from the packaging.
2. Check that all parts are present and intact.

5.1 Fastening the car heating mat

DANGER caused by airbags!

If your vehicle is provided by side airbags, the upper fastening belts 2 may not be fastened via the upper part of the car seat but only be pulled over the handle of the head rest.
Not always all fastening belts 2 / 3 must be used. Test the best way to fasten the car heating mat 1.

1. If necessary, unfold the car heating mat 1.

2. Figure A, B: place the car heating mat 1 on the car seat. The upper fastening belts 2 point to the rear.
   3.Pull the upper fastening belts 2 only over the handle of the head rests if your car is provided with a side airbag.

• over the entire upper part of the back rest if your car is not provided with a side airbag.

1. Pull the lower fastening belts 3 around the lower part of the back rest and fasten them.

5.2 Connecting the car heating mat

• Connect the 12-V plug 5 firmly to the cigarette lighter or another adequate 12-V socket.

6. Switching the device on and off

1. Switch on the device by pushing the on/off switch 4 to I. The power LED 6 lights up.
2. Switch the device off by pushing the on/off switch 4 to 0. The power LED 6 goes out.

7. Cleaning and repairing

7.1 Cleaning the device

In order to enjoy your device for a long time, you should regularly clean it.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!

• Disconnect the power supply prior to every cleaning.

• Never immerse the device in water.
  Do not let water or cleaning agent run into the device.
  CAUTION: never use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents, since these may damage the parts.

• Pull the 12-V plug 5 from the cigarette lighter or another 12-V socket.

• Clean the car heating mat 1 with a clothes brush.
• In case of heavier soiling, clean the car heating mat 1 with a damp cloth. You can use a little mild detergent.
• Wipe with clear water.
• Do not operate the device until it is completely dry again.

7.2 Replacing the fuse of the 12-V plug

The 12-V plug 5 is equipped with a fuse to protect the power-supply system of the vehicle. Should the power supply no longer function, check or replace this fuse:

1. Unscrew the cap 7 at the tip of the 12-V plug 5.
2. Remove the fuse.
3. Insert a new fuse of the type F5AL 250V.
4. Screw the 12-V plug 5 back together.

8. Storage

Store the device somewhere dry place but not too hot.

• Let the device cool before folding it;
• Avoid sharp bending of the device by depositing objects on it during storage.

9. Disposal

This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2012/19/EC. The symbol showing a wheelie bin crossed through indicates that the product requires sep

arate refuse collection in the European Union. This applies to the product and all accessories marked with this symbol. Products identified with this symbol may not be discarded with normal household waste, but must be taken to a collection point for recycling electric and electronic appliances. Recycling helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials and protect the environment.

Packaging

When disposing of the packaging, make sure you comply with the environmental regulations applicable in your country.

11. Warranty of the HOYER Handel GmbH

Dear Customer,

your device is provided with a 3 year warranty starting with the purchase date. In the event of product defects, you are entitled to statutory rights against the vendor. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty presented in the following.

Warranty conditions

The warranty period starts with the purchase date. Please keep the original purchase receipt in a safe place. This document is required to verify the purchase.

If within three years from the purchase date of this product a material or factory defect occurs, the product will be repaired or replaced by us - at our discretion - free of charge to you. This warranty implies that within the period of three years the defective device and the purchase receipt are presented, including a brief written description of the defect and the time it occurred.

If the defect is covered by our warranty, the repaired or a new product will be returned to you. No new warranty period starts with a repair or replacement of the product.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not extended when the warranty has been claimed. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damages and defects already existing at the time of purchase must be reported immediately upon unpacking. Repairs arising after the expiration of the warranty period are subject to a charge.

Warranty coverage

The device was produced carefully according to strict quality guidelines and tested diligently prior to delivery.

The warranty applies to material or factory defects.

Excluded from the warranty are wear parts subject to normal wear and damages to fragile parts, e.g. switches, batteries, lamps or other parts manufactured from glass.

This warranty expires if the product is damaged, not used as intended or not serviced. For the proper operation of the product, all instructions listed in the operating instructions must be observed carefully. Any form of use and handling that is advised against in the operating instructions or warned against must always be avoided.

The product is only intended for private and not for commercial use. In the case of incorrect and improper treatment, use of force and interventions not performed by our authorised Service Centre, the warranty shall cease.

Handling in case of a warranty claim

In order to ensure prompt processing of your matter, please observe the following notes:

• Please keep the article number IAN:277078 and the purchase receipt as a purchase verification for all inquiries.
• The article number can be found on the rating plate, an engraving, the title page of your instructions (in the bottom left), or as a label on the rear or underside of the device.
  If faulty operation or other defects occur, first contact the Service Centre listed in the following by telephone or email.
• Then, you are able to send a product reported as defective free of charge to the service address specified to you, including the purchase receipt and the information on the defect and when it occurred.
