Frequently Asked Questions - SLNB 401 A1 SILVERCREST

My receiver does not receive any signal, what should I do?
First check the coaxial cable: the braid and aluminum foil must be in good contact with the F connector without touching the core. Check the reception parameters of your satellite receiver (LO frequency, polarization). Try connecting the LNB head directly to the receiver without any switch or splitter.
I only receive a small number of channels, why?
The antenna is probably pointed at the wrong satellite. Move it a few degrees east or west. A signal on a nearby frequency may cause signal indicators to rise. Adjust the orientation until you get the desired channels.
How to clean the SLNB 401 A1 LNB head?
Use a clean, slightly damp cloth. Never use corrosive liquids, solvents, or abrasive products. Never immerse the device in water.
What are the safety precautions during installation?
Wear a safety belt if working at height. Use ladders in good condition. Observe safety distances from power lines (danger of death). Never work during a thunderstorm. Ensure the antenna is properly grounded.
Is this LNB head compatible with all satellite receivers?
Yes, the SLNB 401 A1 is a universal 4-output LNB head, compatible with most analog and digital satellite receivers (standard). It requires a 14/18 V power supply via the coaxial cable, provided by the receiver.
Is the LNB head waterproof (IPX4)?
Yes, it has a protection rating of IPX4, meaning it is resistant to water splashes from all directions. However, it should not be immersed.
What is the warranty period and how to contact after-sales service?
The warranty is 3 years from the date of purchase (receipt required). For any claims, contact Targa GmbH technical service: in France at 01-71230283 or service.FR@targa-online.com. Keep the item reference (IAN: 74213).
How to mount the LNB head on the satellite dish?
Mount the head vertically, with the 4 outputs (F connectors) facing downward. Use the 40 mm diameter LNB head holder supplied with your antenna. Consult your dish documentation for precise orientation.
What type of cable and connectors should I use?
Use a high-quality coaxial cable with 75 ohms impedance. Prepare the end by stripping 10 mm of outer insulation and 7 mm of the central conductor insulation. Use appropriate F-type connectors.
Can I connect multiple receivers to a single output?
No, each output is dedicated to one receiver. The LNB head has an integrated multiswitch and 4 independent outputs allowing connection of up to 4 receivers. Do not use passive splitters.

For information on how to mount and orientate your satellite antenna, please refer to the documentation accompanying your satellite antenna.

Connecting the Cables

  • Only use high-end coaxial cable.
  • Use a sharp knife to remove 10 ~mm of the outer insulation from the cable end. Make sure that the shielding net does not get damaged.
  • Next move the shielding net around the outer insulation of the cable end.
  • Remove 7mm of the central lead insulation of the cable end. Make sure that the central lead does not get damaged.
  • Next rotate and push the F-type connector onto the cable end as shown in the following figure.

  • Make sure that the cable shielding makes good contact with the F-type connector case. Next make sure that the shielding net does not touch the central lead.
  • Screw the F-type connector of one of the cable ends onto any output (2) of the Universal Quad LNB. Repeat this procedure for any further output (2) and leave any output (2) that you are not going to use without connection.
  • Next pull the protective cover (1) downwards so that the F-type connectors are covered.
  • Connect the F-type connector of the other cable end directly to your satellite receiver. Please also refer to the User's Manual of your satellite receiver.

Troubleshooting

No signal

The connected satellite receiver receives no signal.

  1. First check the antenna cable: The braided lead of the external wire and the aluminium film must have good contact with the F connector and must not touch the inner (centre) wire!
  2. Check the reception settings of your satellite receiver and edit them, if necessary. To further locate the problem we recommend that you temporarily connect the LNB directly to the receiver and do not use any switches or splitters.

Small number of channels

The antenna has been moved to the wrong satellite. When positioning the antenna you may receive satellite broadcasting on similar frequencies thereby causing the signal indicators of your satellite receiver to increase. Normally it is sufficient to move the antenna a few degrees to the East or West in order to receive the desired channels.
