How to properly clean the Braun Silképil 3274 epilator?

After each use, unplug the device and remove the massage rollers. Clean the epilation head with the brush dipped in alcohol. You can manually turn the tweezers for deep cleaning. For the shaving head, remove the foil and blade block, tap the foil on a flat surface, and clean the blade block with the brush. Apply a drop of oil to the trimmer every 3 months.

What is the ideal hair length for effective epilation?

It is recommended to epilate hairs of 2 to 5 mm in length. Beyond that, it is better to pre-cut the hair with the shaving accessory before epilation.

Can I use the epilator in the shower?

No, the device must be used on dry skin without any oil or cream residue. Do not immerse it in water. Keep the device dry.

How to avoid ingrown hairs after epilation?

Regularly use a massage sponge or a loofah after showering to exfoliate the skin. This removes dead cells and helps fine hairs not to become trapped under the skin.

Is the epilator suitable for sensitive areas like underarms and bikini?

Yes, but it is advisable to start with the Ultra gentle (I) speed for these sensitive areas. Before epilation, clean and dry the area thoroughly. For underarms, keep the arm raised and move the device in different directions.

What to do if my skin is irritated after epilation?

Mild irritation, redness, or itching is normal, especially the first few times. If it persists beyond 36 hours, consult a doctor. With regular use, the reaction usually decreases.

How to replace the shaving head?

To remove the shaving head, press the release bars at the front and back, then remove the foil. The blade block can then be removed. Replace with a new foil and blade block, then fix the foil in place. Put the special shaving accessory back on as a protective cap.

Can I use the device if I have varicose veins or skin problems?

Consult your doctor before using the epilator if you have varicose veins, eczema, cuts, skin inflammation, or if you have diabetes, pregnancy, etc. The device is not recommended in these situations.

What is the warranty period?

The warranty is 2 years from the date of purchase. It covers manufacturing defects but not normal wear (foil, blade block) or damage due to improper use. In France, the legal warranty for hidden defects also applies.

How to use the shaving accessory to pre-cut hair before epilation?

Place the special shaving accessory on the shaving head. Hold the device flat against the skin and move it in the opposite direction of hair growth. Move it diagonally for optimal results. This shortens the hair to the ideal length of 2-5 mm before epilation.

General information on epilation

All methods of hair removal at the root can lead to in-growing hair and irritation (e.g. itching, discomfort or reddening of the skin), depending on the condition of the skin and hair. This is a normal reaction and should quickly disappear, but may be stronger when you are removing hair at the root for the first few times or if you have sensitive skin.

If, after 36 hours, the skin still shows irritation, we recommend that you contact your physician.

In general, the skin reaction and the sensation of pain tend to diminish considerably with the repeated use of Silk-epil. In some cases inflammation of the skin could occur when bacteria penetrate the skin (e.g. when sliding the appliance over the skin). Thorough cleaning of the epilation head before each use will minimize the risk of infection.

If you have any doubts about using this appliance, please consult your physician. In the following cases, this appliance should only be used after prior consultation with a physician:

• eczema, wounds, inflamed skin reactions such as folliculitis (purulent hair follicles) and varicose veins
  around moles
• reduced immunity of the skin, e.g. diabetes mellitus, during pregnancy, Raynaud's disease
• haemophilia or immune deficiency.

Epilation is more comfortable when the hair has the optimum length of 2 - 5mm If hairs are longer, we recommend that

you first shave (see section B) and then epilate the shorter, regrowing hair a week later.

Fine, re-growing hair might not grow up to the skin surface. The regular use of massage sponges (e.g. after showering) or exfoliation peelings help to prevent in-growing hair as the gentle scrubbing action removes the upper skin layer and fine hair can get through to the skin surface.

A How to epilate

• Your skin must be dry and free from grease or cream.
• Before use, make sure that the epilation head (2) is clean.

To turn on the appliance, slide up the on/off switch (4):

Setting «I»: extra gentle

Setting «II»: extra efficient

When switched on, the switch light illuminates the area to be epilated.

Rub your skin to lift short hairs. For optimal performance, hold the appliance at a right angle (90^) against your skin and guide it without pressure against the hair growth, in the direction of the switch.

The massaging rollers (1) stimulate the skin before and after the hair is pulled out for an extra gentle epilation experience.

Leg epilation

Epilate your legs from the lower leg in an upward direction. When epilating behind

the knee, keep the leg stretched out straight.

Underarm and bikini line epilation

Please be aware that especially at the beginning these areas are particularly sensitive to pain. Therefore, we recommend that you start with switch setting «I». With repeated usage the pain sensation will diminish.

Before epilating, thoroughly clean the respective area to remove residue (like deodorant). Then carefully dab dry with a towel.

When epilating the underarm, keep your arm raised up and guide the appliance in different directions.

Cleaning

After epilating, unplug the appliance, remove the massaging rollers and clean the epilation head (2).

Thoroughly clean the tweezer element using the cleaning brush dipped into alcohol. While cleaning, you can turn the tweezer element manually.

To remove the epilation head, press the release buttons (3) on the left and right and pull it off. After cleaning, place the epilation head and the massaging rollers back on the housing.

Remove the epilation head and attach the shaver head (7) by clicking it in (the long hair trimmer should be in front).

Remove the trimmer cap (a). When using the shaver head, always select switch setting «II».

For best results, guide the shaving system in a way that about half of the shaving foil and the long hair trimmer touch your skin.

Always guide the appliance in the direction of the trimmer. The trimmer first raises all long hairs and cuts them off. Then the flexible foil follows to smooth away any stubble.

Pre-cutting hair for epilation

If you choose to pre-cut your hair to the ideal length for epilation, place the trimmer cap onto the shaver head.

Hold the appliance with the trimmer cap lying flat on the skin and guide it with the comb tips against the hair growth.

As hairs grow in various directions, guide the appliance slightly diagonally or in different directions in order to achieve best results.

Cleaning the shaver head

After shaving, unplug the appliance.

If necessary, remove the trimmer cap and clean it with the brush.

In order to clean the shaver head, remove the shaving foil frame (b).

To do so, press the release bars (c) on the front and back and pull off. Carefully tap the shaving foil frame on a flat surface.

Brush out the cutter block (d) as well as the area below the cutter block.

The shaving foil is a very delicate part that must not be cleaned with the brush.

We recommend that you put a drop of light machine oil along the length of the trimmer every 3 months.

Put the shaving foil frame back on and snap it into place.

Replace the trimmer cap which also serves as a protective cap.

Note: Do not use the shaver head with a damaged shaving foil.

Replacing the shaving parts

The shaving foil and the cutter block are precision parts that wear out with time.

Have the shaving foil frame and the cutter block replaced when you notice a reduced shaving performance even after cleaning the shaver head.

Please do not dispose of the product in the household waste at the end of its useful life.

Disposal can take place at a Braun Service Centre or at appropriate collection points provided in your country.
