USER MANUAL Design 18520 UNOLD

This symbol denotes a possible hazard which could cause injury or damage to the appliance. This symbol indicates a potential burning hazard. Please be especially careful at all times here. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read the following instructions and keep them on hand for later reference.

1. This appliance can

be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sen- sory or mental capabili- ties or lack of experi- ence and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruc- tion concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. 2. Children of less than

3 years should be kept away unless continu- ously supervised.

3. Children aged from 3

years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruc- tion concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

4. Children should be

supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

5. Keep the appliance out

of the reach of children.

6. Connect appliance only

to an AC power sup- ply with voltage corre- sponding to the voltage on the rating plate.

7. Do not operate this

appliance with an exter- nal timer or remote control system.

8. Never immerse the

appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.

9. The base should never

come into contact with water or other liquids. In case this ever hap- pens, it must be com- pletely dry before oper- ating the appliance again.

10. Do not clean the elec-

tric kettle or the base in a dish-washer.

11. Never touch the appli-

ance or power cord with wet hands.

12. This appliance is

power cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.

17. Route the power cord so

that there is no possi- bility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.

18. Never wrap the power

cord around the appli- ance.

27. Do not move the appli-

ance as long as it is in operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.

28. The electric kettle fea-

tures boil dry protection, which means the appli- ance shuts off automat- ically if the heating ele- ment becomes too hot. Allow the appliance to cool about 15 minutes. Then fill the electric kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.

29. Do not use the appli-

ance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.

30. Unplug the appliance

from the power sup- ply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.

31. Check the appliance,

the plug and the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, please send the appli- ance or the base for inspection and repair to our after sales service.

32. Unauthorized repairs

can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.

33. If the supply cord is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manu- facturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. The appliance becomes very hot during operation and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection. Never open the housing of the appliance. This can result in electric shock. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all packaging materials

and any transport safety devices. Keep packaging materials away from children - danger of suffoca- tion!

2. Clean all parts with a damp

operation cutout that switches off the heating elements when they become too hot, for instance when the kettle has boiled dry. Allow the kettle to cool down. Then fill the kettle with cold water. This will reset the cutout so that the kettle can be used again.

15. Always use fresh and cold water.

Do not leave water in the kettle.

We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs only in Germany and Austria. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
