This symbol denotes a possible hazard which could cause injury or damage to the appliance. This symbol indicates a potential burning hazard. Please be especially careful at all times here. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read the following instructions and keep them on hand for later reference.

1. This appliance can

be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sen- sory or mental capabili- ties or lack of experi- ence and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruc- tion concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Chil- dren shall not play with Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de16 the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without super- vision.

2. Children of less than

3 years should be kept away unless continu- ously supervised.

3. Children aged from 3

years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruc- tion concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

4. Children should be

supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

5. Keep the appliance out

of the reach of children.

6. Connect appliance only

to an AC power sup- ply with voltage corre- sponding to the voltage on the rating plate.

7. Do not operate this

appliance with an exter- nal timer or remote control system.

8. Never immerse the

appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.

9. The base should never

come into contact with water or other liquids. In case this ever hap- pens, it must be com- pletely dry before oper- ating the appliance again.

10. Do not clean the elec-

tric kettle or the base in a dish-washer.

11. Never touch the appli-

ance or power cord with wet hands.

12. This appliance is

intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de17 by client in hotels, motels and other work- ing environments; bed and breakfast type environments.

13. For safety reasons,

never place the appli- ance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet sur- face.

14. Do not place the appli-

ance or power cord near open flames dur- ing operation.

15. Always use the elec-

tric kettle on a level, uncluttered and heat- resistant surface.

16. Make sure that the

power cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.

17. Route the power cord so

that there is no possi- bility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.

18. Never wrap the power

cord around the appli- ance.

as cans or bottles in the electric kettle.

22. Make sure that the lid of

the appliance is always completely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.

24. Never fill the appliance

with more than 1.5lit- ers of water, to prevent the water from boiling over.

25. Never switch on the

appliance if there is no water in the kettle.

26. Make sure that all

27. Do not move the appli-

ance as long as it is in operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.

28. The electric kettle fea-

tures boil dry protection, which means the appli- ance shuts off automat- ically if the heating ele- ment becomes too hot. Allow the appliance to cool about 15 minutes. Then fill the electric kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.

29. Do not use the appli-

ance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.

30. Unplug the appliance

from the power sup- ply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.

31. Check the appliance,

the plug and the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, please send the appli- ance or the base for inspection and repair to our after sales service.

32. Unauthorized repairs

can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.

33. If the supply cord is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manu- facturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de19 CAUTION: Do not open the lid while the water is boiling. If the kettle jug is filled beyond its maximum capacity, boiling water can splash out. The appliance becomes very hot during operation and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection. Never open the housing of the appliance. This can result in electric shock. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all packaging materials

and any transport safety devices. Keep packaging materials away from children - danger of suffoca- tion!

2. Clean all parts with a damp

cloth, as described in the chapter “Cleaning and care”.

cord to the power supply (220– 240 V~, 50/60 Hz).

5. Remove the kettle from the base.

6. Press the opening button on top

of the handle. The lid is released and can be open.

7. Add clear, cold water to the “Max”

the ON/OFF switch downwards into the „I“-position. The kettle cannot be switched on if it is not properly seated on the base.

7. Switch on the kettle by pressing

the ON/OFF switch downwards into the „I“-position. The kettle cannot be switched on if it is not properly seated on the base.

8. Whenever you take the kettle off

the base, the appliance is auto- matically switched off, even if the water is not yet boiling.

9. The kettle automatically stops

heating at the latest when the water boils.

The automatic switch-off only works, if the lid is correctly closed.

11. Of course you may also push the

switch into the „O“-position to interrupt heating.

Ensure that the kettle is switched off before removing it from the base.

13. Please allow the product to cool

down for a certain time before using the kettle again to heat water.

14. The kettle is fitted with a dry-

operation cutout that switches off the heating elements when they become too hot, for instance when the kettle has boiled dry. Allow the kettle to cool down. Then fill the kettle with cold water. This will reset the cutout so that the kettle can be used again.

15. Always use fresh and cold water.

Do not leave water in the kettle.

16. Switch off and unplug electrical

appliances after use. Boiling water can cause scalding. Therefore, please handle the appliance with care when it contains hot water. The appliance becomes very hot during operation and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection. Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de21

Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power supply. Allow the appliance to cool before clean- ing it.

1. Do not immerse the base, power

cord or kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dish- washer.

2. Wipe off the base and the ket-

tle with a damp cloth and a lit- tle dishwashing detergent. Do not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, since they can damage the appli- ance.

3. The appliance must be completely

dry on the outside before you use it again. DESCALING

1. To keep the appliance operating

efficiently and to prolong its ser- vice life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hard- ness of your water.

2. Use off-the-shelf descaling prod-

ucts for electronic kettles and comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. To descale, fill the kettle half full, maximum, other- wise the liquid can boil over and can cause severe injuries.

3. Heat the liquid (do not boil!) and

allow it to sit for some time in the electronic kettle.

4. Pour the descaling solution out of

Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic products. By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment. We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the re- sponsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs only in Germany and Austria. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
