Which laptop models are compatible with the CFVEB522 port replicator?

This port replicator is only compatible with Panasonic laptops from the CF-52 series. It cannot be used with other models.

How to connect the laptop to the port replicator?

Turn off the laptop and disconnect all cables. Connect the AC adapter to the DC-IN jack on the replicator. Slide the laptop onto the replicator aligning the connectors, then gently lower until the bus connector clicks into place.

Can I connect or disconnect the port replicator while the laptop is on?

No, it is strictly prohibited to connect or disconnect the replicator when the laptop is on, in sleep mode, or in hibernation. Doing so may damage the hardware.

What ports are available on the port replicator?

The replicator features 4 USB ports, one LAN port (compatible with 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE-T), one external display port (analog interface), one serial port, one DisplayPort, and a DC-IN jack. It also includes a Kensington security lock.

How to switch between different displays?

Use the Fn+F3 key combination. The switching order is: internal LCD display, internal LCD + external display (DisplayPort), external display (DisplayPort), internal LCD + external display (analog interface), external display (analog interface), then external display (analog interface) + external display (DisplayPort).

What is the required power supply voltage for the port replicator?

The replicator requires a 15.6 V DC power supply. Use exclusively the specified Panasonic AC adapter (model CF-AA5803A) supplied with the laptop.

What to do in case of replicator malfunction?

Immediately disconnect the AC adapter and remove the laptop. If the product is damaged, emits smoke, an unusual odor, or is abnormally hot, contact Panasonic technical support.

The port replicator allows your peripheral devices to function exactly as if they were connected directly to the computer. (Refer to “Description of Parts” in the “Operating Instructions” accompanying the computer.)

CAUTION

Do not touch the expansion bus connector, pins or springs of the port replicator.

When using the LAN function with the computer attached to the port replicator, use the port replicator's LAN Port.

Do not use the computer's LAN Port although it is visible when opening the cover of the rear of the computer and using the Modem Port.

Expansion Bus Connector

This connects to the expansion bus connector on the bottom of the computer.

Lever

Slide the lever all the way back to release the computer.

Power Switch

This operates identically to the power switch on the computer.

Connecting/Disconnecting

CAUTION

Do not connect or disconnect the port replicator while the computer is powered on or in the sleep (Windows Vista), standby (Windows XP) or hibernation mode.

Connecting

1 Power off the computer, and disconnect all cables from the computer.

2 Connect the plug of the AC adaptor that came with the computer to the DC-IN jack of the port replicator and plug the other end into an AC outlet.

CAUTION

- Refer to the “Operating Instructions” accompanying computer for information on proper handling of the AC adaptor and AC cord.

3 Slide the computer onto the port replicator, align the back of the computer with the back of the port replicator, and then slowly lower the computer to connect the expansion bus connector.

CAUTION

- Do not connect the computer to a port replicator while the computer is connected to the AC adaptor or other cables.

- Do not attempt to make connections if there is any object between the computer and the port replicator. Doing so could damage the computer and the port replicator.

4 Press the computer firmly against the port replicator. This will cause the expansion bus connector on the bottom of the computer to connect to the expansion bus connector of the port replicator.

CAUTION

● While connecting the computer to the port replicator:

• Do not attempt to move the port replicator.
• Do not open the display wider than necessary (180° or more).
• It is impossible to remove the battery pack and the hard disk drive.

- If the computer malfunctions while the port replicator is attached, disconnect the port replicator and check to see if the computer operates normally. If the computer operates normally, the port replicator may be malfunctioning. Contact Panasonic Technical Support.

Disconnecting

1 Power off the computer and close the display.

2 Slide the lever all the way back. The computer's connector disengages the expansion bus connector of the port replicator.

CAUTION

● After sliding the lever, do not release it suddenly. The lever may be locked again.
- Do not slide the lever while pressing against the computer from above. Doing so could damage the computer.

3 Lift up the computer to remove it from the port replicator.

Switching the Display

When 2 external displays compatible with analog interface and DisplayPort respectively are connected at the same time and when [Display] is set to [External Monitor] or [Simultaneous] in the Setup Utility, the display compatible with DisplayPort will take priority over the display compatible with analog interface. The displays switch by pressing Fn + F3 as follows.
