Frequently Asked Questions - SBW06D5HU ASUS

How to install the Asus SBW06D5HU Blu-ray drive?
Plug in the supplied Y-cable: connect the main connector to a USB port on the computer and, if necessary, the additional connector to another USB port for sufficient power. Then connect the cable to the drive. Press the eject button to open the tray.
What cables are supplied with the SBW06D5HU?
The drive comes with a Y-cable allowing the use of two USB ports for stable power, necessary for Blu-ray reading/writing.
Can I use the drive with a single USB port?
For DVDs and CDs, a single port may suffice, but for Blu-ray, it is essential to connect both connectors to avoid malfunctions due to insufficient power.
What to do if the drive is not recognized by the computer?
Check that both USB connectors are properly plugged in (for Blu-ray). Try another USB port. Make sure the cable is not damaged. Contact Asus support if the problem persists.
How to eject the drive tray?
On Windows, press the eject button on the drive. If the button does not work, you can eject via Windows Explorer (right-click on the drive -> Eject).
Can I play Blu-ray discs on macOS?
The manual is mainly intended for Windows. For macOS, the drive may be recognized, but additional software may be required to play Blu-ray discs. Check compatibility on the Asus website.
What safety precautions should I take?
Do not insert damaged discs (risk of breakage). Do not disassemble the drive. Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not let liquids enter. Use the device between 0°C and 40°C.
How to clean the drive?
Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use volatile solvents. In case of stains, a diluted neutral cleaner may be applied with a cloth.
What to do if a disc gets stuck in the drive?
Try to eject via the button or the computer. If that does not work, do not force the tray. Contact Asus support for assistance.
Where to find driver updates or technical support?

Is the USB-C connection powerful enough to operate the Blu-ray player?
Frequently Asked Questions - 17 d
Response Notice-Facile

Yes, the USB-C connection is sufficient for the ASUS SBW06D5HU Blu-ray player, provided that the correct configuration is followed.

This player does not require an external power adapter - it draws all its power via USB. However, for reading and writing Blu-ray, you must use the Y-cable provided that connects TWO USB ports simultaneously to your computer or USB hub.

Why two USB connections are necessary

  • A single USB port may be sufficient for reading or writing DVDs and CDs (speeds up to 8x and 24x respectively)
  • Reading and writing Blu-ray (up to 6x) requires higher power delivery, hence the dual connection to ensure stable power supply

Make sure that your computer or USB hub has two available ports and that you properly connect both connectors of the Y-cable. This is the only requirement for the player to function correctly with Blu-ray discs.
