SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS General Information Read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. The bread may burn, therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such as curtains. Regarding the instructions for cleaning, please refer to the paragraph “MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING” of the manual. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: o Staff kitchen areas in shop, offices and other working environment; o Farm houses; o By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; o Bed and breakfast type environments. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. In case of damage caused by failure of not living up to this manual the warranty will decay immediately. The manufacturer/importer accepts no liability for damages caused by failure to not living up the manual, a negligent use or use not in accordance with the requirements of this manual. Always remove the power cord and let it cool: o Before moving the unit; o Before the unit is stored; o Before you go mounting or dismantle parts; o Before cleaning or maintenance work; o After use. Only have the appliance repaired by a qualified service center*. *Qualified service center: after-sales service of the manufacturer/importer, which is qualified to carry out repair to avoid any kind of danger. In case of problems please return the appliance to this service. Electricity and heat Before use, check that the mains power supply voltage is the same and the voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the appliance. Always plug the appliance into an earthed plug socket. Regularly check the power cord for damage. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer or the nearest authorized service agent for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord. Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces or steam. Always remove the plug from the plug socket before you move the appliance. The machine should not be operated by means of an external timer-switch or by means of a separate system with remote control. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 10-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high voltage appliance on the same circuit. To protect against electric shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or housing in water or other liquid. Do not touch the appliance if it falls into water. Remove the plug from its socket, turn off the appliance and do not use it again. Do not use the appliance close to hot objects such as a stove or oven. Using the appliance The use of accessory attachment not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. Only use the appliance indoors, in dry areas away from water. Do not immerse the appliance or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is danger to life due to electric shock! To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use the appliance outdoors or on wet surfaces. Place the appliance on a stable, level surface from which it cannot fall off. Use the appliance on a flat, dry and heat resistance surface, not on varnished furniture. Place the appliance at least 5cm off the wall or flammable objects (such as curtains, candles or towels). Place the appliance on a stable, level surface and not close to hot objects or open flames (e.g. hotplates). Disconnect the mains plug: after each time operating; if there is any interference with operation; before cleaning. Ensure that the mains cable is not hung over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and open flames. Do not use the appliance if the mains cable or plug show signs of damage, if the appliance has fallen on the floor or has other parts been damage. In such cases take the appliance to a specialist for checking and repair if necessary. Children are unable to recognize the hazards associated with incorrect handling of electrical appliances. Therefore, children should never use electric household appliances unsupervised. Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Remove all packaging from the appliance. Clean your toaster (see Chapter “MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING”). Place the plug into the outlet. Operate the toaster for a few minutes so dust and production residues can burn out. During this heating some smell and a bit of smoke can be noticed. This is normal and harmless. Make sure there is enough ventilation in the room. Take out the plug from the outlet. Allow the appliance to cool down. Continue at the section “USE”.

USE Insert the power plug and cable into the socket and turn on the toaster. Insert up to two slices of bread in the browning slot. Use the browning control switch to select the desired degree of browning between 1 and 7 (1 = lightest; 7 = darkest degree of browning). No. 3 is recommended for first use. The degree of browning chosen depends on the type of bread and individual taste. Press the toasting lever down until it engages. The toasting process starts automatically. The indicator light will illuminate. To reheat toast, press down the toasting lever and then press the reheat button. The button will illuminate. To defrost bread, press the defrost button to prolong the toasting time of frozen bread. The button will illuminate. The toaster switches itself off automatically and the toasted bread is ejected when the desired degree of browning has been reached. The “STOP” button can always be used to cancel the browning process. Wait at least one minute before using the appliance again after toasting bread. Take out the plug from the socket. Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning or moving. Warning!! Never try to take out pieces of bread or other objects with a knife, because the contact with the parts under current can lead to a shock! First let the appliance cool down, take out the plug from the outlet and take out the bread carefully. Note! Bread can start to burn. Make sure that during use of the toaster, there is enough free space around and above the toaster to ensure sufficient ventilation.MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Warning!! Before cleaning, make sure that you have removed the power plug from the socket. Let the toaster cool down first. Pull the crumbs collector out to clean it up, reset it before using the appliance again. Clean the outside of the toaster with a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Never dip the toaster in water to clean it! To clean the inside, turn it upside down and shake it over the sink until any crumbs adhering to the inside fall out. Clean the crumb collector regularly to avoid crumbs accumulating inside.

When your appliance shows defects, you can refer to your salesperson. Your salesperson will make sure any defect will be repaired as soon as possible. Repairs outside the warranty period You can always hand in your appliance to have it repaired outside the warranty period. This will of course not be free of charge. • TOMADO provides a 2-year warranty for all defects caused by hidden deficiencies which render the appliance useless for normal operation.

• The warranty runs from the date of purchase; we advise you to carefully save your receipt.

• Within the warranty period any defects in production or material will be resolved free of charge, by means of reparation, replacement of parts or replacement of the appliance as a whole.

• The warranty certificate has to be filled in by the sales person at the moment of purchase.

• Repairs will only be made under warranty in case it can proven (by means of a filled in warranty card and the receipt) that the day the complaint is filed falls into the warranty period.

• The warranty does not apply when defects or damages result from an accident, misuse, negligence (e.g. incorrect cleansing), or when repairs of alterations have been executed outside the authorized TOMADO service centre (excl. disassembling, as stated in the instruction manual).

• The warranty does not cover any defects arising when the appliance is connected to the wrong outlet voltage, not following the guidelines in the instruction manual and usual wear and tear.

• The warranty does not cover any defects arising from the lack of frequent descaling of appliances, whatever type of water has been used (especially for steam irons, coffee machines and water boilers).
