How to use the Tomado TM1968 toaster?
Plug in the appliance, place 1 or 2 slices in the slots, set the browning level (1 to 7), lower the ejection lever until it clicks. Toasting starts automatically. At the end of the cycle, the bread is ejected.

General Information

  • Read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a

safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- The bread may burn, therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such as curtains.

  • Regarding the instructions for cleaning, please refer to the paragraph "MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING" of the manual.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

  • Staff kitchen areas in shop, offices and other working environment;

Electricity and heat

- Before use, check that the mains power supply voltage is the same and the voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the appliance.

• Always plug the appliance into an earthed plug socket.

- Regularly check the power cord for damage.

- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the

appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer or the nearest authorized service agent for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.

- To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord.

- Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces or steam.

Using the appliance

BEFORE INITIAL USE

  • Remove all packaging from the appliance.
  • Clean your toaster (see Chapter "MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING").
  • Place the plug into the outlet.
  • Operate the toaster for a few minutes so dust and production residues can burn out. During this heating some smell and a bit of smoke can be noticed. This is normal and harmless.
    • Make sure there is enough ventilation in the room.
    • Take out the plug from the outlet.
  • Allow the appliance to cool down.
  • Continue at the section "USE".

USE

  • Insert the power plug and cable into the socket and turn on the toaster.
  • Insert up to two slices of bread in the browning slot.
  • Use the browning control switch to select the desired degree of browning between 1 and 7 (1 = lightest; 7 = darkest degree of browning). No. 3 is recommended for first use. The degree of browning chosen depends on the type of bread and individual taste.
  • Press the toasting lever down until it engages. The toasting process starts automatically. The indicator light will illuminate.
  • To reheat toast, press down the toasting lever and then press the reheat button. The button will illuminate.
  • To defrost bread, press the defrost button to prolong the toasting time of frozen bread. The button will illuminate.
  • The toaster switches itself off automatically and the toasted bread is ejected when the desired degree of browning has been reached. The "STOP" button can always be used to cancel the browning process.
  • Wait at least one minute before using the appliance again after toasting bread.
    • Take out the plug from the socket.
  • Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning or moving.

Warning!!

Never try to take out pieces of bread or other objects with a knife, because the contact with the parts under current can lead to a shock! First let the appliance cool down, take out the plug from the outlet and take out the bread carefully.

Bread can start to burn. Make sure that during use of the toaster, there is enough free space around and above the toaster to ensure sufficient ventilation.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Warning!!

  • Before cleaning, make sure that you have removed the power plug from the socket. Let the toaster cool down first.
  • Pull the crumbs collector out to clean it up, reset it before using the appliance again.
  • Clean the outside of the toaster with a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Never dip the toaster in water to clean it!
  • To clean the inside, turn it upside down and shake it over the sink until any crumbs adhering to the inside fall out. Clean the crumb collector regularly to avoid crumbs accumulating inside.

Warranty regulations

• TOMADO provides a 2-year warranty for all defects caused by hidden deficiencies which render the appliance useless for normal operation.

- Within the warranty period any defects in production or material will be resolved free of charge, by means of reparation, replacement of parts or replacement of the appliance as a whole.
- The warranty certificate has to be filled in by the sales person at the moment of purchase.
- Repairs will only be made under warranty in case it can proven (by means of a filled in warranty card and the receipt) that the day the complaint is filed falls into the warranty period.
- The warranty does not apply when defects or damages result from an accident, misuse, negligence (e.g. incorrect cleansing), or when repairs of alterations have been executed outside the authorized TOMADO service centre (excl. disassembling, as stated in the instruction manual).
- The warranty does not cover any defects arising when the appliance is connected to the wrong outlet voltage, not following the guidelines in the instruction manual and usual wear and tear.
- The warranty does not cover any defects arising from the lack of frequent descaling of appliances, whatever type of water has been used (especially for steam irons, coffee machines and water boilers).
• TOMADO cannot be held responsible for any material damage or personal accident resulting from connecting

the appliance in breach of the locally applicable safety regulations and technical standards (for instance an inferior AC outlet). The warranty under no circumstances grants the right for any compensation.

  • All other claims, including damages, are excluded unless the Law states otherwise.
  • Other warranty regulations than the warranty regulations stated above are not applicable.
