IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
Read all instructions.
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug, or base unit in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts or cleaning.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. Or, call the appropriate toll-free number listed on the cover of this manual.
The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over the edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in microwave or heated oven.
Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot food, water, or other hot liquids.
To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
ELECTRICAL CORD
a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or in Latin America by an authorized service center.

On/Off button: Press once to turn unit on and to activate all functions. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn unit off and to end all functions. Unit beeps two times indicating it is shutting off.
- (+) and (-) buttons: Use to change preset cooking time. Press + to increase time. Press to decrease time.
- Mode buttons: Use to select the different food categories.

How to Use
This appliance is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
- Remove packing materials and any stickers from the unit.
- Wash all parts as instructed in Care and Cleaning.
- Select a location for the unit. Do not place unit under cabinets or close to the wall to allow steam to escape without damaging counter space or cabinets.
FILLING WATER RESERVOIR
- Fill water reservoir with cold tap water.
Important: Do not add any salt, pepper, seasoning, herbs, beer, wine or any other liquid to the water reservoir. - You can fill the water reservoir two different ways:

a. Pour water directly into reservoir to desired level (C). OR

b. Pour water into the water-fill inlet (D) up to the MAX mark Do not overfill.
Tip: As a safety feature, if during the cooking cycle water level goes below the MIN marking, the flashes on the digital display and the unit beeps until you fill with water.
Important: When steaming foods longer than 25 minutes, check the water level in the reservoir.
- Hold the drip tray by handles and place it into the unit base (E).

- Place herbs or spices in Flavor Scenter® screen for added flavor (F). (See Flavor Scenter® Tips).
Note: You can also use the drip tray without adding herbs to the Flavor Scenter® if you prefer.
Tips for Using Flavor Scenter® Screen
To prevent small herbs or ground spices from falling through the screen, rinse or wet the screen before adding seasonings.
If using herbs, use whole or coarsely chop the leaves.
- Broth or wine can be added to the drip tray to enhance flavor.
USING STEAMING BASKETS
You can arrange your steaming baskets according to the amount of food you are cooking. CAUTION: Use pot holders when removing the lid or lifting the steaming basket, drip tray or rice bowl. Lift the lid away from your face and body to avoid escaping steam. Cooking with One Steaming Basket
- Place either basket 1 or 2 onto the drip tray.

- Place food in the steaming basket (G). See Cooking Chart on pages 7, 8 and 9 for helpful tips and recommended times. You can also cook up to 8 eggs by inserting an egg into each indentation on built-in egg holders (H).
- Cover the steaming basket with the lid, making sure it fits securely in place.


Cooking with Two Steaming Baskets (J)
- Fill both baskets with desired foods. Always place more solid foods or foods that take longer to cook in lower basket. See Cooking Chart on pages 7, 8 and 9 for helpful tips and recommended times.
- Place basket onto drip tray. Place upper basket on top of lower basket.

USING RICE BOWL
When cooking in the rice bowl, add rice, herbs, seasonings and water directly into the rice bowl.
- Place the steaming basket onto the drip tray and place the rice bowl with contents into the steaming basket (K).
- If using two steaming bowls, always place rice in lower steaming basket.
- Cover steaming basket with lid.

SETTING COOKING TIME
- Once you plug in the unit into the wall outlet, it beeps, the LCD digital display illuminates and shows default settings as illustrated in figure (L).
- To change default settings:
a. Press +o set desired time up to 99 minutes.
Tip: Press and hold the button to rapidly reach desired time.
OR
b. Press MODE button until desired food category icon displays with preset cooking time.
Tip: Keep pressing the button until you reach desired food category icon.
Note: If you do not make a selection, the unit shuts off after a few minutes of inactivity.
READY FOR COOKING
- Press ON/OFF button. The unit turns on, it beeps and clicks on the display. The timer counts down in one-minute increments.
Note: 10001 flashes on the display during the entire cooking cycle.
Important:
- You can change the time at any time during the cooking cycle even in the preset mode. However, you cannot change the food category selected during the cooking cycle.
To change the food, press ON/OFF button to stop cooking then press MODE button to select a different food category. - Once cooking cycle is finished, unit beeps 2 times and automatically switches to Keep Warm mode. The display changes to 10 min and flashes.
Tip: You can change the time at any time during the Keep Warm cycle.
Note: If water lever is low, the flashes on the display and the unit beeps until you add water above the MIN level.
3. When Keep Warm cycle is finished unit beeps 2 times and automatically shuts off.
4. Remove food immediately to avoid overcooking.

- Use a platter or inverted lid to hold hot cooking basket (M).
COOKING CHART
Helpful Tips:
- Times are based on a cold start and using cold tap water.
Use foods directly from where they are stored, for example, refrigerator or freezer. - Use inverted lid to hold hot cooking basket.
- Stir vegetables halfway through cooking cycle.
Times are to be used as a guide; increase or decrease time according to personal preference.
Solid foods such as chicken, fish steaks and fillets should be placed in single layer. - When using multiple baskets:
The longest cooking foods should be placed in the bottom steaming basket - Foods placed in the higher basket will take longer to cook than the times given in this chart.

Care and Cleaning
This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
IMPORTANT: Unplug the unit and allow to cool completely before cleaning.
CLEANING
Steaming Baskets, Rice Bowl, Lid and Drip Tray
Immerse in warm, sudsy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. These parts can also be washed in the dishwasher, top rack only.
Water Reservoir
Clean with warm, sandy water. Use a non-abrasive plastic brush or mesh scouring pad to clean the interior. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water.
Unit Base Exterior
Wipe base with a damp cloth then dry thoroughly. Never immerse the base in liquid or place in the dishwasher.
IMPORTANT: Do not use bleach, abrasive pads or cleaners to clean any part of the unit. MAINTAINING YOUR UNIT
Mineral deposits left by hard water can clog your unit and cause steam to stop before food is cooked. Cleaning is recommended every 3 months. The frequency of flushing out deposits is affected by your usage and water hardness.
Fill water reservoir with vinegar to the Max marking.
IMPORTANT: Do not use any other chemical or commercial descaler.

Make sure the drip tray, steaming bowl and lid are in place.
-
Plug unit into wall outlet.
-
Set timer to 25 minutes.
IMPORTANT: If vinegar begins to boil over the edge of the unit base, unplug the unit and turn off the timer. Reduce amount of vinegar.
- Once you hear the bell ring, unplug the unit and let it cool completely.
- Pour out vinegar from water reservoir and rinse reservoir several times with warm, sudsy water.

STORING YOUR UNIT
The steaming baskets are collapsible for compact storage.
- TO STORE, place basket 1 inside basket 2 (N).
- Unplug unit from wall outlet and let it cool completely before removing the drip dray for storage.
- Pull on the retractable cord for storage.
