OPERATIONGUIDELINES

NOTE: Before using Popcorn Maker for the first time, we recommend you clean the unit following the instructions under CARE AND CLEANING.

Remove the transparent cover from the main body.
B Using the measuring spoon provided, measure one level spoon of popping corn and place it into the main chamber. One measuring spoon of kernels will make approximately 3 cups of popped corn. Do not use more than one spoon of corn in your Popcorn Maker at once. NEVER PLACE BUTTER, OIL OR SALT IN THE POPPING CHAMBER.
B Reposition the transparent cover so it sits firmly on the body of the unit.
B Place the measuring spoon in position on the top of the transparent cover.
If butter is required, place up to 2 tablespoons of chopped up butter in the measuring spoon. While the corn is popping, the butter will begin to melt. When popping has stopped, turn the unit off and allow the butter to melt for a further 3 minutes on top of the unit. Then pour the melted butter in the bowl. For best result, we recommend the use of butter kept at room temperature.
B Place a large bowl beneath the Popcorn Makers chute to catch the popped corn.
B Insert the plug into an AC220-240V, 50Hz power outlet and switch the power on.
Turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
The Popped corn will shoot out the chamber and into the bowl.

CAUTION: Do not touch the popcorn maker cover during or immediately after operation. The unit will be extremely hot.

Do not operate the popcorn maker for more than 5 minutes at a time. Allow a 10 minutes break between cooking a second cycle of popped corn. This will allow the units motor to cool down.

  • When the rate of popping becomes less than about 1 per second, turn the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Allow the unit to cool for at least 2 minutes before removing the transparent cover. We recommend oven mitts are used to remove the cover. Due to variations in the kernels, you may find not all kernels have popped.
  • Ensure the appliance is turned off after use. Allow to cool before reusing, cleaning or storing.

Helpful hints:

  • This product uses hot air circulation in the popping chamber to pop the kernels. To avoid damaged to your Popcorn Maker, never add butter, oil or any other substance to the popping chamber.
  • Never use microwave popcorn in your Popcorn Maker.
  • Use only fresh popcorn kernels. Old or stale kernels may cause scorching or smoking during operation.
  • Take care when selecting the bowl for catching your popcorn.

  • A metal bowl may become hot, exercise caution when moving the bowl.

  • If using a plastic bowl, ensure it can withstand the heated air which flows from the Popcorn Maker while in use.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • Turn the Popcorn Maker's ON/OFF switch to the OFF position and ensure it is unplugged from the power supply.
  • Ensure the unit has cooled fully prior to cleaning, reusing or storing.
  • Wash the transparent cover and measuring spoon in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the internal popping chamber.
  • Clean the base of the unit with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Never immerse the Popcorn Maker's body, cord set or plug in water or any other liquid. Do not place any part of the appliance in a dishwasher.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaning products on this appliance.
  • Store the assembled appliance in a clean, dry area.

RECIPES

After making the popcorn in the Popcorn maker various ingredients can be added to the popcorn in the dish.

This allows a variety of different tasting popcorn to be made. Sweet popcorn can be made by shaking caster sugar over the popcorn while it is still hot and savoury popcorn can be made by adding parmesan cheese or salt to the popcorn, for example. The recipes given below are also ideally suited for making special varieties.

Spicy popcorn with nuts

Ingredients: 1 measuring cup corn, 2 dessert spoons olive oil, 125 g almonds, 125 g cashew nuts, 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon paprika powder.

Preparation: make the popcorn as described earlier. Roast the cashew nuts and the almonds in a pan. Add the spices to this. Mix the nuts and the popcorn together in a dish. Let it all cool down and the popcorn is ready for eating.

Walnut popcorn snack

Ingredients: 1 measuring cup corn, 1 small cup of apple syrup, 2 dessert spoons honey and 100 grams ground walnuts.

Preparation: make the popcorn as described earlier. Mix the apple syrup and the honey together and warm this in a pan until it is all very thin and runny. Grease a dish with a little oil. Add the popcorn and the ground walnuts to the dish and pour the syrup/honey mixture over it. Let it all cool down and the popcorn is ready for eating.

Chocolate popcorn

Ingredients: 60 g popcorn, 80 g cooking chocolate, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sugar, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) milk, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) butter (or margarine)

Preparation: Melt chocolate, milk and butter before sweetening. Allow the mixture to cool until lukewarm, then pour it into the bowl, add the popcorn and mix. Put the popcorn in the refrigerator to chill. Finally, remove from the refrigerator and turn the bowl upside down to release the chocolate popcorn.

Caramel popcorn

Ingredients: 60 g popcorn, 100 g of sugar, 250 ml water, one cup of water and ice

Preparation: Melt the sugar with water in order to obtain caramel. Put the warm popcorn in the hot caramel and drop this into the cup containing water and ice so that caramel becomes hard. Dry well.
