Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - YOUR GELATERIA PRO TOUCH IS Fitted With THESE EXTRAS - 1

In the ice cream function: After the ice cream preparation has ended and if no other function has been activated, the appliance switches to automatic refrigeration function. After 10 minutes, the cooling unit and the fan switch on, "COOL" lights up in the screen. After another 10 minutes, the appliance switches to standby mode, the refrigeration function stops, the appliance emits 3 sound signals.

The cooling unit and the fan switch on for 15 minutes and cool the yogurt mixture down to approx. 9^ . After that, both the cooling unit and the fan switch off. Thanks to a temperature sensor, the temperature of the yogurt is being monitored. If it rises above 9^ , the cooling unit and the fan switch back on for another 4 minutes. The machine continues cooling in this 4-minute rhythm until the appliance is switched off.

MOTOR OVERLOAD PROTECTION

Once the ice cream mixture starts to solidify and the preparation is finished, the mixing motor stops, meaning that the stirring tool stops rotating. This is a safety precaution to prevent the motor from overloading. However, the time keeps counting down in the display, the ice cream is kept cool until you switch the appliance off with the POWER button resp. until the time setting reaches "00:00". You can switch the appliance off with the POWER button and take the ice cream out once the stirring tool stops.

Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - MOTOR OVERLOAD PROTECTION - 1

Caution: It is very important that the stirring tool is firmly and exactly placed on the shaft, otherwise, the ingredients can not be stirred! Always insert the stirring tool into the ice cream container before putting the ingredients into the container.

Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - STARTING UP: MAKING ICE CREAM - 1

  1. Put the prepared ice cream mixture (at room temperature, approx. 25^ , +/- 5^ ) into the ice cream container. Wipe potential residues off the sides of the ice cream container.

Caution: Do not overfill the ice cream container! The mixture gains in volume when it is processed to ice cream, therefore the ice cream container must only be filled to a maximum of 60% . Otherwise, the mixture could spill over the side of the ice cream container during preparation!

Note: The ice cream container should always be outside of the ice cream container chamber while being filled. Like this, you can prevent ingredients from splashing into the ice cream container chamber.

  1. Make sure that the ice cream container chamber and the outside of the ice cream container are absolutely dry before lowering the ice cream container into the chamber.
  2. Place the ice cream container in the ice cream container chamber.
  3. There are two recesses in the ice cream container chamber. When lowering it in, position the ice cream container so that the joints of the two handle-grips glide into these recesses.

Caution: Your Solis ice cream machine is equipped with a built-in cooling unit (compressor), therefore the ice cream container does not have to be placed in the freezer before it is filled.

  1. Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet, the POWER button flashes faintly in the display and the appliance is in standby mode.
  2. Touch the POWER button for approx. 1 second to switch the appliance to settings mode. "60:00", representing the time setting, and all button symbols light up in the screen.
  3. Touch the ice cream program button to switch the appliance to ice cream preparation mode.
  4. If required, change the standard operation time by pressing the or buttons. In ice cream mode, the time changes at 1 minute intervals, if you press and hold the buttons for more than 2 seconds, the operation time is changed at a higher rate. Settings between 5 minutes and 60 minutes are possible.
  5. Touch the START/PAUSE button to start ice cream preparation. The time is counted down in the display. All programs that are active at this time start flashing. Additionally, the symbol is shown in a frame to indicate that this program has been set.

Tips:

  • You can add ingredients through the small folding lid in the lid, but don't forget to close it after.
  • If you wish to interrupt the ice cream preparation for a short period of time, touch the START/PAUSE button, the time in the screen stops counting down. If you want to resume ice cream preparation, touch the START/PAUSE button again, the timer continues to count down the time.

TERMINATING ICE CREAM PREPARATION

  • If the time in the display has reached "00:00", switch the appliance off by touching the POWER button for approx. 1 second (the screen goes dark, excluding the POWER button, which continues to flash faintly), then pull the plug. Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - TERMINATING ICE CREAM PREPARATION - 1

Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - TERMINATING ICE CREAM PREPARATION - 2

Note: When making ice cream, it can happen that the mixture solidifies before the set time has fully elapsed. In such a case, the motor overload protection stops the stirring tool and it stops rotating. However, the time in the display keeps counting down and the ice cream is cooled until you switch the appliance off with the POWER button resp. until the time has reached "00:00". You can switch the appliance off with the POWER button and take the ice cream out once the stirring tool stops.

  • If you do not switch the appliance off right after the screen has reached "00:00", the appliance switches to automatic refrigeration function. After 10 minutes, the cooling unit and the fan switch on, "COOL" is displayed in the screen and the appliance keeps the ice cream mixture cool for up to 10 minutes. After that, the appliance switches to standby mode with 3 signal sounds, the refrigeration function stops, the screen goes dark and only the POWER button is lit up.
  • If you want to keep the ice cream cool even longer, you can use the button to select the refrigeration function and the START/PAUSE button to start the program. However, this only cools the ice cream mixture and does not mix it. Therefore, it is possible for the ice cream mixture to freeze up with the ice cream container getting stuck in the machine. In such a case, switch the appliance off and wait for a few minutes before removing the ice cream container.
Important: If you do not want to eat the ice cream right away, we recommend transferring it to another, air tight container and placing it in the freezer.
  • Under all circumstances, use the included plastic scraper or another plastic spatula to take the ice cream out of the container. Never handle a metal kitchen tool inside the ice cream container!
  • Never place the ice cream container itself in the freezer!

  2. Place the ice cream container in the ice cream container chamber.
  3. There are two recesses in the ice cream container chamber. When lowering it in, position the ice cream container so that the joints of the two handle-grips glide into these recesses.
  4. Place the lid on the ice cream container and turn it in a counter clockwise direction to firmly shut it.

Caution: Please do not open the lid during the preparation unless it is explicitly mentioned in the recipe. Should you need to add ingredients during use, open the smaller folding lid, using the handle.

  1. Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet, the POWER button flashes faintly in the display and the appliance is in standby mode.

  • Stir the milk with the prepared yogurt powder or the yogurt with living yogurt cultures thoroughly with a whisk to evenly mix in the yogurt cultures.
  • Pour the milk with the cultures into the ice cream container and prepare the yogurt as described in the "Making Yogurt" section.
If you want to add fruit, fruit puree, honey, chocolate or other ingredients, only do so when the yogurt is finished.
After the yogurt preparation has ended, stir the yogurt in the ice cream container thoroughly with a plastic spatula before filling it into smaller glasses.
  • Close the glasses with lids and place the yogurt glasses in the refrigerator.
  • You can eat the yogurt right away or store it in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. Please note that the yogurt becomes a bit more sour every day, this is due to the natural acidification.

Tips:

  • The higher the fat content of the milk that you use, the creamier the yogurt will be.
  • You can use some of the yogurt you made for making the next yogurt.
  • If the yogurt has lumps in it, the yogurt cultures were not sufficiently mixed into the milk before the appliance was switched on.

CLEANING AND CARE OF YOUR SOLIS GELATERIA PRO TOUCH

  • Before you start cleaning, please check if the ice cream machine is turned off and unplugged. Please wait for the compressor to completely cool out before cleaning the appliance.

CLEANING THE STAINLESS STEEL HOUSING

  1. Wipe the casing and the screen clean with a soft, only slightly moist towel. Do not use dry paper towels or dry pieces of cloth for the screen and do not use any aggressive or scouring detergents or scouring pads to clean the casing or accessories of the appliance, as they might scratch the surfaces.

Note: Never immerse the machine in water and never place it in dishwasher. Make sure that liquids or detergents do not come into contact with the display.

  1. To clean the ice cream container chamber, the machine needs to be at room temperature. Wipe clean the container chamber with a damp cloth, eventually using some washing-up liquid. Carefully remove possible remains of cream, milk, chocolate etc. with a soft cloth.
  2. All surfaces must be completely dry before inserting the plug back into the power outlet.

CLEANING THE ICE CREAM CONTAINER

  • Outside of the container chamber, fill half the ice cream container with warm water and add mild washing-up liquid. Leave the water in the ice cream container for approx. 10–20 minutes before cleaning it with a soft sponge and rinsing it with clear water. Only reinsert the ice cream container into the machine when it is completely dry.

Attention: The ice cream container must not be cleaned in the dishwasher!

CLEANING THE LID

  • The lid can be cleaned in warm water with mild washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Do not use aggressive, abrasive cleaners or scrubbing sponges as they might scratch the surface of the lid. Only put the lid back on the ice cream container when it is completely dry.

CLEANING THE STIRRING TOOL

  • Rinse the stirring tool with warm water and mild washing-up liquid. You can clean the middle section of the stirring tool and remove any ice cream remains with a bottle brush. Let the stirring tool dry completely before putting it into the ice cream container.

STORAGE

  1. Check if the machine is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Check if the housing and all appliance parts are absolutely clean and completely dry.
  3. Put the stirring tool into the ice cream container which in turn you should place in the container chamber.
  4. Place the lid on the ice cream container.
  5. Store the appliance in an upright position (the appliance must not be tilted) in a dry, dark place. Optimally, use the original packaging. Do not place anything on top of the appliance.

TIPS FOR PERFECT ICE CREAM

  • The ice cream mixture should be at room temperature when it is filled into the ice cream container (25^ / + / - 5^) . Making ice cream usually takes approx. 40-60 minutes.
  • When preparing a recipe that uses warm ingredients, you should let the ice cream mixture cool down for at least 4 hours before filling it into the ice cream machine.
  • Always take the ice cream container out of the machine when putting the ice cream mixture into the ice cream container. Make sure that the outsides of the container are clean before placing the container back in the machine. Small ingredients that are added just before the preparation time is over can be added through the folding lid.
  • The ingredients mentioned in the recipes could be replaced by similar foods for the sake of one's health or because of allergies or a nutritional regimen. Please keep in mind, however, that this will change the taste and the consistency of the ice cream.

  • Most ice cream preparations gain in volume while being stirred and cooled. All ice cream recipes in the recipe book make approx. 1 litre of frozen ice cream once the preparation is finished. If you wish to prepare other ice cream recipes, use a maximum of 1000ml of food, so that the mixture has enough space even when it is frozen.

  • Alcohol inhibits the mixture from freezing. Thus, it is advisable to add alcohol to the mixture just at the end of the preparation process.
  • At the end of preparation, the consistency of the ice cream will usually be so soft that you can easily poke a spoon into it. If you want to serve the ice cream as scoops or on waffles or cones, putting it into the freezer for another two hours before serving is recommended.
If you want to serve ice cream directly from the freezer, you should let it stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • If you want to store the ice cream in the freezer, an air-tight container should be used. This will prevent ice crystals from forming. Covering the ice cream with baking paper will also counteract ice crystals.

Note: Never place the ice cream container in the freezer!

  • Homemade ice cream will taste best when consumed fresh, meaning within one week after preparation. However, it may be stored for up to two weeks in the freezer.

TIPS FOR MAKING ICE CREAM WITH MILK / CREAM / EGGS

Many of our recipes use warm milk / cream / egg mixture in order to produce creamy ice cream.

With these tips, this variation will be particularly successful:

All ingredients have to be absolutely fresh.
- Process eggs that are at room temperature. The recipes use medium-sized eggs, approx. weighing 59g.
Measure all ingredients before starting preparation and have them ready.
- Either use an egg whisk or an electric mixer. Whisk the egg yolks and the sugar until you have a lightly coloured, fluffy, thick mixture.
- You should start whisking up the egg-sugar-mixture while the cream resp. milk is being heated up. If you only start blending when the cream resp. milk

is already heated up, this might lead to the cream resp. milk overheating or separating later on.

  • For heating, use a saucepan with a heavy bottom. When heating cream/milk, do not let it boil! Take the cream / milk off the stove once little bubbles form at the side of the saucepan.
  • Ensure that the mixture is permanently stirred with a wooden spoon (best with an even edge) until it thickens. To check if the mixture has reached the right consistency, dip the spoon into the mixture. When you take the spoon out of the mixture, run your finger down the back of spoon. If you can see a finger mark, the mixture is thick enough. In this case, remove the saucepan from the stove.
If the mixture separates or congeals, the heat was too high. In this case, you will need to start again.
  • The egg mixture will take approx. 5 - 15 minutes to thicken, depending on the quantity.
Always stay present during the preparation and supervise the cooking process.
  • Let the egg mixture cool out at room temperature and stir it occasionally to release heat until no steam is visible. The egg mixture can be used once it has cooled down to room temperature.
  • Cover the surface of the ice cream mixture with a cling film to avoid skin forming on top.
  • To make the egg mixture cool down faster, you can transfer it to a metal bowl, place it in cold water and permanently stir until it has cooled down to room temperature.

VITAL INGREDIENTS FOR DELICIOUS ICE CREAM

Making delicious ice cream yourself from fresh, tasty ingredients that you can enjoy whenever you want becomes easy with the Solis Gelateria Pro Touch ice cream machine. These are the basic ingredients:

EGGS

  • The recipes use medium sized eggs, weighing approx. 59g. The eggs give the mixture volume, stabilize and emulsify it.
  • Attention: Avoid using older eggs, especially if not cooking the egg mixture.

Pregnant women are advised not to consume ice cream made with raw eggs.

SUGAR

  • The recipes use raffinated sugar which easily dissolves and prevents forming of ice crystals.
  • As a general rule: The more sugar you add, the lower the freezing point of the water in the mixture will be. This prevents the mixture from becoming a hard, large clump that is difficult to portion.

MILK

  • The recipes use whole milk. You can use skimmed milk as well, but this will result in the ice cream being less creamy; you will not be able to achieve the same results. Also, skimmed milk should only be used in recipes that do not require the mixture to be boiled. Please also note that using skimmed milk increases the risk of the mixture separating when it is heated up.

CREAM

  • The recipes use liquid cream. Cream will make the mixture softer and more creamy.
  • Reduced fat cream can only be used in recipes where heating the mixture is not required, as the risk of the mixture separating is high.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Solis Gelateria Pro Touch 8502 - QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS - 1

QUESTION ANSWER
The ice cream does not freeze. You did not touch the START/PAUSE buttonDoes the mixture contain alcohol? Too much was added, or too early.Be careful to ensure air circulation around the machine. We recommend a minimum distance of 10 cm between appliance and adjacent items/the wall.
The stirring tool does not move.Check if the stirring tool is properly fitted onto the shaft. If the shaft doesn’t move either, please contact a Solis service center.
The lid does not lock. The stirring tool and ice cream container are not properly positioned - ensure the handles of the container are inserted into the grooves in the container chamber and the stirring tool is fixed to the shaft.
The ice cream dessert is not frozen in stated time. The mixture was too warm when added into the ice cream container. Different ingredients and quantities affect freezing time. Ingredients such as eggs or alcohol require a little more time.
The ice cream container can not be removed after preparation.Ingredients may have spilt over the container’s side into the container chamber. Turn off the machine and let the ice cream melt for 10 to 20 minutes. Remove container and clean the inside of the container chamber.
The ice cream should be harder.Remove finished ice cream from the container, place in an air-tight container and put in freezer for 1 to 2 hours or as long as it takes for ice cream to reach desired hardness.
Can I not add hard ingredients directly to the ice cream mixture?·We recommend adding hard ingredients at the end of the preparation. Note: Often ingredients like fruits won't be integrated when added too early.
My ice cream machine seems to vibrate briefly.·The built-in compressor is mounted on special rubber feet to minimize noise and vibration during use. When no cooling is necessary, the compressor will automatically turn off and small vibrations could occur for 1–2 seconds. This is absolutely normal.
The control panel does not work.·The child safety lock is activated as soon as you touch the START/PAUSE button. Touching the START/PAUSE button again deactivates the child safety lock.
Ice cream is not cooled although compressor is on.·To increase compressor life, a self timer is built in. Please allow 5 minutes for the compressor to reactivate.
My ice cream has many ice crystals in it. Why?·Some desserts have a higher water content which will make the mixture more icy.
When I get my ice cream from the freezer it is very hard. Why?·Homemade ice cream always is harder than bought ice cream, as it contains less air. We recommend taking the ice cream out of the freezer 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
Can I put the ice cream container into the freezer?·We do not recommend placing the ice cream container in the freezer. The ice cream will freeze solid in the container and be very difficult to remove. Please never use any sharp or metal tools to remove ice cream from the container, as this might scratch the surface.
