How to correctly install the Bartscher 203.500 pizza oven?

Place the appliance on a flat, heat-resistant and well-ventilated surface. Maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm from walls or flammable materials. Plug directly into a wall socket with at least 16 A protection. Do not use an extension cord.

What is the maximum temperature of the oven and how to adjust it?

The maximum temperature is 300 °C. Use the temperature regulator of each chamber to adjust the heat. Turn clockwise to increase. The green light goes off when the temperature is reached.

How to use the timer and continuous mode?

Turn the time adjustment knob between 0 and 15 minutes for timed cooking. For continuous operation (several hours), turn the knob fully to the left to the 'ON' position. The oven will stop automatically after the set time.

Can I use both cooking chambers at the same time?

Yes, each chamber has its own temperature and time regulator. The lower chamber can control both heating elements if the upper one is not used. Adjust each chamber independently.

How to clean the ceramic plate?

Clean the ceramic plate hot using a metal spatula or scraper. Never clean it cold or with water, as this could damage it. You can remove it after cooling for easier cleaning.

3. Transport, packaging and storage

3.1 Delivery check

Please check the delivery upon completeness and transport damage immediately after receipt.

In case of visible damage do not accept or accept the delivery with reservation only.

Note the extent of damage on the carrier's bill of delivery. Trigger off the complaint.

Hidden damages should be reclaimed immediately after notice, as claims for damages can only be asserted within the effective period for complaints.

3.2 Packaging

Please do not throw away the covering carton of your device as it might be useful for storage purposes, when moving or, in case of damages, when the device must be sent back to a repair center. The outer and inner packing material should be removed completely from the device before installation.

NOTE!

If you liked to dispose the packing, consider the regulations applicable in your country. Supply re-usable packing materials to the recycling.

Please inspect the device upon completeness. In case any part is missing please contact our customer service center immediately.

3.3 Storage

Keep the package closed until installation and under consideration of the outside indicated positioning- and storage markings.

Packages should be stored under consideration of the following:

• Do not store outdoors.
• Keep it dry and dust-free.
• Do not expose it to aggressive media.
• Do not expose it to direct sunlight.
• Avoid mechanical shocks and vibration.
• In case of longer storage ( >3 months) make sure you check the state of the packaging and the parts regularly. If required refresh or renew.

5. Installation and operation

5.1 Safety instructions

WARNING! Electrical hazard!

The device must only be connected to a properly installed single socket with protective contact.

Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet.

Cable must not touch any hot parts.

• See that the cable does not touch any heat sources or sharp edges. Do not let the cable dangle over the counter edge.

WARNING! Hot external surface!

During operation some elements of the unit very become hot. To avoid burns, do not touch hot elements!

• Do not use the device in case it does not function properly, has been damaged or dropped.
• Do not use any accessory or spare parts that have not been recommended by the manufacturer. These can be dangerous for the user or lead to damages of the device or personal injury, and further, the warranty expires.
• Do not lay the cable over carpets or heat insulations. Do not cover the cable. Keep away the cable from operating range and do not dunk it into water.
• Do not move or tilt the device when in operation.

WARNING! Hazard via electrical current!

The device can cause injuries due to improper installation!

Before installation the local power grid specification should be compared with that of the device (see type label).

Connect the device only in case of compliance!

5.2 Installation and connection

CAUTION!

The installation and maintenance of the appliance should only be carried out by trained personnel!

• Discard the complete packing material after unpacking the device.
• Carefully remove the protective foil from internal surfaces to avoid leaving any adhesive tape. If any adhesive tape does remain stuck, remove it using an appropriate agent.
• Place the device on top of an even and safe surface which supports the weight of the device and is not heat sensitive.
• Not at any time should you place the device on an inflammable surface (such as: table cloth, carpet, etc.).
• You must not position the device near open fireplaces, electric ovens/arc furnaces, furnaces/electric heaters or other heat sources.
• Do not place the unit near walls or other objects made of flammable materials. Keep a minimum distance of 20~cm on all sides of the unit.
• The unit is equipped with adjustable legs to help it rest evenly. They should be used to place the unit in a level position.
• Place the unit in a well-ventilated area.
• Place the unit under a kitchen hood to remove steam and odours.
• Never cover the pizza oven with towels or cloths, do not hang any objects on the unit.
• The unit can be installed separately or in a series along with other units.
• The electrical circuit in the socket must be secured to at least 16A. Only connect the unit directly to the wall socket; do not use any extension cords or power strips.
• Position the device in a way so that the power plug is always accessible.

5.3 Operating

• Clean the unit prior to first use (see 6.2 Cleaning).
• Connect the unit to an appropriate single-plug outlet.
• Prior to placing food in the unit, turn it on at maximum power for approx. 20-25 minutes in a very well ventilated area.

CAUTION!

Always preheat the unit for 20-25 min. before using!

• To turn the unit on, turn the time regulator clockwise to a position between 0 and 15 minutes. When the orange control light comes on, the unit is turned on and working.

• If the unit is to work for an extended time, turn the time regulator to the left, to the ON position. Then the time can be set properly prior to baking.

• Set the desired temperature (50^ - 300^) by turning the temperature dial clockwise.

• When using the dual chamber pizza oven (203.500), please remember that by setting the upper chamber's temperature you are only setting the upper heating temperature. If you wish to use the lower heating at the same time, turn it on using the time dial and set the proper temperature using the temperature dial. The heater located under the bottom plate of the upper chamber serves as both the upper heater for the lower chamber and the lower heater for the upper chamber.

• When using the upper chamber, remember that the upper chamber time dial turns off only the upper heater. The temperature and time dials for the bottom chamber should be used to turn off the lower heater.

NOTE!

If you are using only one chamber, select the lower chamber as the temperature and time dials turn on both the upper and lower heaters.

• After reaching the desired temperature the green control light goes off.

WARNING! Danger of burns!

The external surface of the pizza oven gets very hot when in use. Do not touch it with bare hands. Use protective gloves or kitchen towels when opening and closing the door. Always use the handle to open and close the door!

• Open the pizza oven door and place the prepared pizza on the baking surface.
• Set the desired time. When the time expires, the unit automatically deactivates itself.
• Remove the pizza from the oven.
• Turn the unit off (the time regulator should be set to the „0” position), and if the unit is not to be used again, remove the plug from its socket.

6. Cleaning and maintenance

6.1 Safety advice

Before beginning with repair or cleaning works make sure the device has been disconnected from power socket (pull the power plug!!!) and has cooled down.
o Do not use any acid agents and make sure no water ingresses the device.
To protect yourself from electric shock, never immerse the device, its cables and the plug in water or other liquids.

CAUTION!

The device is not suited for direct washing via water jets. Therefore, you must not use any kind of pressure water jet for cleaning the device!

6.2 Cleaning

Clean the unit regularly.
Clean the unit and leave it to cool.
Clean with special care those elements of the unit which have contact with foodstuffs.
- The baking surface (ceramic plate) must be cleaned following every use with a metal scraper or other suitable implement.

ATTENTION!

Do not clean the ceramic plate when cold, nor with water, as it may be damaged.

To thoroughly clean the ceramic plate, it may be removed after the unit has completely cooled.
Check the ventilation ducts in the casing regularly and clean as needed, to correct the flow of air inside the unit.
Always only use a soft cloth. Never use any kind of sharp cleaners which could scratch the unit.
o After cleaning, a soft, dry cloth should be used to dry and polish the surface.

6.3 Safety instructions for maintenance

Check the mains connection cable for damage from time to time. Never operate the device when the cable is damaged. A damaged cable must immediately be replaced by customer service or a qualified electrician to avoid dangers.
In case of damage or malfunction, please contact your stockist or our customer service centre.
○ Only a qualified technician and using original spare parts and accessories should carry out repairs and maintenance of the device. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself.

7. Waste disposal

Discarding old devices

At the end of its service life the discarded device has to be disposed in accordance with the national regulations. It is advisable to contact a company which is specialized in waste disposal, or just contact the local disposal service in your community.

WARNING!

To exclude any abuse and the dangers involved make the waste device unfit for use before disposal. For that purpose disconnect device from mains supply and remove mains connection cable from the device.
