Frequently Asked Questions - Vintage Delay VD400 BEHRINGER

How to connect the VD400?
Plug your instrument into the IN input (1/4" TS) and connect the OUT output to your amplifier input. You can also use the DIR OUT output for a second amplifier.
How to power the pedal?
Use a 9 V DC, 100 mA regulated power supply (center negative) plugged into DC IN, or a 9 V battery (type 6LR61) in the compartment under the cover.
How to change the battery?
Press the hinge pins with a ballpoint pen and carefully remove the pedal cover. Replace the battery observing polarity.
Why doesn't the LED light up?
Check that the battery is charged or the power supply is connected. The ON/BATT LED also serves as a low battery indicator: if it is off or dim, replace the battery.
How to adjust the delay?
Use REPEAT RATE for the time between repeats, ECHO for the effect volume, and INTENSITY for the number of repeats.
How to disable the effect?
Press the footswitch: the effect is deactivated and the LED turns off. In bypass mode, the OUT output outputs no signal if both outputs are used.
What is the behavior in A/B mode?
When the effect is on, OUT outputs the processed signal and DIR OUT outputs the dry signal. When the effect is off, OUT is silent and DIR OUT outputs the dry signal.
Can I use two amplifiers with the VD400?
Yes, connect one amplifier to OUT for the effected or dry signal depending on mode, and another to DIR OUT for the direct signal.
How to save battery life?
Unplug the jack from the IN input when not using the pedal: power is automatically cut off.
Where to find the serial number?
The serial number is engraved on the bottom of the pedal.

USER MANUAL Vintage Delay VD400 BEHRINGER

Thank you for showing your confidence in us by purchasing the Behringer VINTAGE DELAY VD400. This ultimate effects pedal is designed to deliver amazing delay sounds comparable to state-of-the-art studio processors. Thanks to its parameter controls, you'll have plenty of cool sounds at your disposal to handle almost any situation.

The delay effect creates a delay of the input signal with various repetitions. Different tempo settings allow interesting delay effects.

1. Controls

The REPEAT RATE control adjusts the delay time (repetition rate).
The ECHO control adjusts the effect output level.
3 INTENSITY control adjusts the number of repetitions.
The ON/BATT LED illuminates when the effect is activated. It also serves as a battery level indicator.
Use the footswitch to activate/deactivate the effect.
Use this 1 / 4 "TS IN connector to plug in the instrument cable.
The 14^ TS OUT connector sends the signal to your amp.
The 1 / 4 TS DIR OUT connector sends the unaffected signal to connect, for example, to a separate amp.

If you use the OUT connector only, it will send the affected signal and, when deactivated, the unaffected signal. When using both the OUT and the DIR OUT, the VD400 acts like an A/B box. This means when activated, the OUT sends only the echo signal while the DIR OUT carries the dry signal. When deactivated the OUT is muted while the DIR OUT sends the unaffected signal.

Use the DC IN connection to plug in a 9 V power supply (not included).

2 VINTAGE DELAY VD400

The BATTERY COMPARTMENT is located underneath the pedal cover. To install or replace the 9 V battery (not included), press the hinges with a ballpoint pen and remove the pedal cover. Be careful not to scratch the unit.

BEHRINGER Vintage Delay VD400 - VINTAGE DELAY VD400 - 1

The VD400 has no on/off switch. As soon as you insert the plug into the in connector, the VD400 is on. When not in use, remove the plug from the in connector. This extends the life of the battery.

The SERIAL NUMBER is located at the underside.

2. Safety Instructions

Do not use near water, or install near heat sources. Use only authorized attachments/accessories. Do not service product yourself. Contact our qualified servicing personnel for servicing or repairs, especially when power supply cord or plug is damaged.
