Do not use outdoors

GROUNDED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW
Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.
ELECTRICAL CORD
a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or in Latin America by an authorized service center.

This unit is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
- Remove all packing material and any stickers from the product.
- Before first use, wash the interior of the kettle and the scale filter with hot soapy water and rinse well until water is clear.
- Select a level surface where this unit is to be used allowing enough space for steam to escape without damage to counters, cabi,nets and walls.
- Uncoil power cord from power cord holder at bottom of the power base
- Fill kettle with 2½ cups cold tap water and 1¼ cup vinegar and place on power base. Close cover.
• Plug cord into standard electrical outlet. - Bring to a full boil and discard.
- Fill kettle with at least 6 cups of cold tap water. Bring to full boil and discard; repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.
Note: The kettle will only operate when the I/O (On/Off) switch is in the I (On) position. The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has boiled. The kettle will automatically shut off if there is no water in the kettle.

FILLING THE KETTLE
Press latch and lift cover of kettle (C). Fill with desired amount of cold tap water (from 3½ to 7 cups). Be sure water does not come above the bottom of the pour spout to prevent boiling water from spilling onto the counter.
Note:
- Do not operate the kettle without water.
- Do not overfill the kettle - keep water level below the pour spout.
- Do not open the cover while water is heating.

BOILING WATER
- Press lid release latch to open cover of kettle (D).
- Be sure kettle has at least 3½ cups of cold tap water in it before use.

Close lid on kettle securely. (Cover snaps into place.)

Place kettle on the power base so the element on the bottom of the kettle rests securely on the power base (E).

Position kettle with spout facing away from walls, cabinets and your body.

- Plug the kettle into a standard electrical outlet. The power light at the base of the kettle under the handle comes on (F).
- Press the I/O (On/Off) switch button to the I position (there will be a click) and the water begins to heat (G).
- When water boils the kettle will automatically shut off and the indicator light will go out. Do not try to hold the switch in the 'On' position once the water has boiled.
- To re-boil water, it is necessary to wait several minutes for water to cool.
- To reuse the kettle, allow it to cool down. Before pressing the I/O (On/Off) switch check that there is enough water in the kettle. Simply press the I/O (On/Off) switch to the I position or pour off any unused water and refill.
Warning: Kettle filled with boiling water is hot. Use only the stay cool handle to pick it up. When taking kettle to the table, carry kettle with caution to avoid spillage. Set it on a trivet or hot pad to protect the table surface or tablecloth.
- Hold kettle level when pouring, especially when filled to maximum. Do not pour too fast.
Note: Make sure lid is closed before pouring hot water from the kettle.
- To remove kettle from power base simply lift up.
- Empty and unplug the kettle when not in use.
HELPFUL TIPS
• Always use fresh, cold water for each boiling process.
- Do not store water in the kettle. This helps to prevent build up of mineral deposits.
- For your safety, make sure cover of kettle is closed securely before pressing the I/O (ON/OFF) switch.
• Always unplug the kettle before filling.
- Never use less than the minimum amount of water (3 ½ cups). Note the MIN line on the kettle.
- Never use more than the maximum amount of water (7 cups). Note the MAX line on the kettle.
- The power supply is connected only to the power base. This allows for easy movement of the kettle to the table. (Remember to use a trivet or hot pad under the hot kettle.)
- Do not try to hold the switch 'On' (I) when water has boiled.
- Use your kettle to boil water for beverages, soups, cereal, noodles, rice and pasta.

BUILT-IN SCALE PROTECTION
Lime scale forms over time when water is heated. Though harmless, it may be bothersome. The concealed heating element in the kettle is designed to help reduce scale buildup. The kettle has a scale filter at the bottom of the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage.
Care and Cleaning
This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
CLEANING
- Before cleaning, be sure the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.
- Pull out the scale filter for cleaning. Wash the filter in hot soapy water and rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the dishwasher.
- Wash the inside of the kettle with soapy water and rinse. NEVER IMMERSE THE KETTLE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS or place in a dishwasher.
- Wipe the exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and dry. The concealed heating element at the bottom of the interior may discolor. This will not affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads.
- Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil, depending on your use and the hardness of the water in your area. When this happens, it is time for descaling. Use a scale/lime remover and follow its manufacturer's directions.
CORD STORAGE

Conveniently store the cord beneath the base by wrapping it around the grooves on the base (H).
