How to clean the plate of my Steba VG 50 barbecue?

Let the appliance cool down, remove the plate and wash it with a dish brush and dish soap. In case of heavy soiling, soak it in soapy water before cleaning. The housing and hood can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a little dish soap. Never immerse the regulator housing.

What are the thermostat positions and their meaning?

The thermostat has 5 positions: 1 = on, 2 = keep warm, 3 = gentle grilling (fish, etc.), 4 = medium grilling (delicate meats), 5 = maximum grilling. The indicator light illuminates during heating and turns off when the temperature is reached.

Can I use the appliance with a timer or remote control?

No, the appliance must not be used with a timer or separate remote control system. It must be plugged directly into a mains socket.

What to do before first use?

This appliance is for private use only and must not be used commercially. Please read the instruction manual carefully and keep it at a safe place. Safety information

• The appliance must be used and plugged in only according the requirements shown on the rating label.

• Use the appliance only if the cord shows no damages. Check this before every use!

• Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.

• Connect the power plug to a properly installed and easily accessible socket only.

• To unplug the power plug, always pull the plug – not the cable.

• Plug off the appliance after each use or in case of failure.

• Do not pull at the cord. Don't pull it over edges and don't bend it too much.

• Keep the cord away from hot parts.

Hot surface!

There is danger of burning when touching the surface during operation.

• Do not plug into a socket where several other appliances are plugged in.

• Do not modify the parts, or repair the unit by yourself.

• Do not use the unit near a flame or wet places.

• Do not use where children can easily touch the unit, nor let children use the unit by themselves.

Attention! Housing and glass get hot. Danger of

burns! Do not place the appliance on a sensitive surface (e.g. painted furniture) and keep a distance of at

least 70cm to burnable materials.

• The appliance must always be unplugged in case of no supervision, prior to assembly, the dismantling or cleaning.
• While using the appliance, some steam may leave. Keep hands and face away!

The device must not be operated with charcoal or flammable liquids.

Cleaning and maintainance:

• The device should be cleaned after each use
  Unplug the device
• The device should cool down a little. It can be cleaned easier when it is not that hot.
• Never immerse the device in water!
• Use a humid cloth with a little bit of detergent to clean it. Resisting dirt should be covered with some oil, wait for ca 5 min and try to remove it again with a humid cloth. Do not use abhe- rasive cleaners. When cleaning the oil tray, be careful, that the liquid in it is cooled down completely.

Important:

Never place this device on or next to hot surfaces (e.g. hot stoves). Only use it on a even, stable and a heat resisting surface. It is important that no inflatable items are near to the device.

Safety requirements during usage:

• Only use the appliance at a safety plug socket. This should be connected to a earth leakage circuit breaker
• Use the appliance only when it is assembled.
• While setting up the device, please note that the logo should always be in front of you and the thermostat needs to be plugged in on the right.
• Do not use the grill plate outside of the appliance and never immerse into water.
• Never leave the appliance outdoors after usage.
• Fat and other grill food can spatter and drop. Therefore do not place the appliance not directly on sensitive surfaces, e.g. Polished table tops, parquet or carpet.
• When using the appliance with stand, be sure that the stand is standing stable, because the danger of burns when it falls
• Be sure that the cable is placed that way that it cannot be pulled or touched during usage.
• Always unplug the appliance and cool it down before the device is carried away. Never carry it when it is hot.
• Unplug the appliance after each usage or before cleaning.
• Always place the oil tray bellow the grill plate.

Thermostat:

With the thermostat the temperature of the grill plate can be adjusted.

The Numbers on the thermostat knob have following meaning:

1 = thermostat switched on
2 = keeping warm
3 = grilling with low temperature (for fish etc.)
4 = grilling on medium temperature (for chicken etc.)
5 = grilling on max. temperature

Control Lamp:

When the appliance is plugged in and the thermostat is adjusted, the control lamp is shining. When the temperature is achieved, the lamp goes off.

Grill preparations:

Oil the grill slightly before the usage. This makes it more easy to turn the food. Then heat up the device for ca 10 min; the thermostat on maximum level. The food should be not frozen during grilling. Please use the appliance only with the drip tray.

Never cover the appliance with aluminium foil, because the heat cannot get away from the heating element.

Never cut on the grill surface because the coating can be damaged.

Some Tips for grilling

In the interest of your health:

• Minced meat must be processed immediately
• Separate roasted poultry from raw meat, do not eat raw meat and always grill until fully cooked.
  Cured meat and sausages should not be grilled too much.
  Starches (eg, bread, potatoes) must not be grilled too dark
