These operating instructions contain important information regarding the safe use of this hair & beard trimmer as well as details on its day-to-day use and its disposal. Carefully familiarise yourself with these operating instructions before using the hair & beard trimmer and use it only for the application areas and purposes described. If you give the hair & beard trimmer away or sell it, please ensure that you also pass on these operating instructions. They are part of the product.
1. Intended use
This hair & beard trimmer is simple to use and intended only for cutting/trimming human body hair. Use the device on dry hair only.
This hair & beard trimmer is not intended for business or commercial use. Use the hair & beard trimmer solely for private purposes; any other use is deemed improper. In addition, the hair & beard trimmer must not be used outside of closed rooms or in regions with a tropical climate. Use the hair & beard trimmer solely for the purposes illustrated in these operating instructions. Only use the accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Use of accessories not recommended may cause permanent damage to the device. This may invalidate your guarantee.
The hair & beard trimmer meets all relevant standards and directives specified in the EU Declaration of Conformity. Compliance with these standards is no longer guaranteed if a change is made to the hair & beard trimmer without the authorisation of the manufacturer. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damages or faults arising as a result.

4. Safety instructions
Before using the hair & beard trimmer for the first time, read the following instructions carefully and observe all warnings, even if you are familiar with using electronic devices. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place for future reference.
DANGER! This symbol, in conjunction with the word 'Danger', indicates an impending dangerous situation which, if not prevented, may lead to serious injuries or even death.
WARNING! This icon, in conjunction with the word 'Warning', indicates important information for the safe operation of the hair & beard trimmer and user safety.
This icon indicates that the hair & beard trimmer cannot be cleaned off under running water.
A short circuit-proof isolation transformer is built into the mains adapter of the hair & beard trimmer.
This icon indicates that further information on the topic is available.
Operating environment
The hair & beard trimmer is designed for operation in rooms with high humidity (for example, bathroom) but not in rooms with excessive dust. Operating temperature and operating humidity: 5°C to 35°C, max. 85% relative humidity.
The mains adapter (6) is only suitable for use in indoor rooms.
DANGER! The hair & beard trimmer must only be used with the mains adapter (6) provided.
RISK to children
This hair & beard trimmer can be used by children aged three and over, as well as by people with reduced physical sensory or mental abilities or who lack experience and/or knowledge, providing they are supervised or have been
instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the hair & beard trimmer. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children, unless they are supervised. Small parts can be lethal if swallowed. Also keep the packaging film away from children. There is a risk of suffocation.
RISK of electric shock
- Keep the hair & beard trimmer dry and protect it from moisture and dripping or splashing water.
- Never use the hair & beard trimmer with wet hands.
- Do not immerse the hair & beard trimmer or mains adapter (6) in water or other liquids and do not rinse off under running water.
- If the hair & beard trimmer falls into water, you must first remove the mains adapter (6) from the socket before taking the device out of the water. Do not continue using the hair & beard trimmer. Get it checked by a professional.
- If you use the hair & beard trimmer in the bathroom, remove the plug after use. Close proximity to water represents a hazard, even when the device has been switched off.

If the hair & beard trimmer or mains adapter (6) is visibly damaged, the device must not be put into operation.

The mains adapter (6) can only be connected to a properly installed power socket, which is always easily accessible. The voltage of the power socket must comply with the voltage specified on the rating plate.
- Always remove the mains adapter (6) from the socket after use, after charging, in the event of a malfunction and before cleaning commences.
DANGER of fire
- The hair & beard trimmer is not intended for operation with an external timer or a separate remote control system.
- If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells, immediately switch off the device and remove the mains adapter (6) from the socket. If this happens, you must stop using the hair & beard trimmer until it has been checked by a specialist. Do not inhale smoke possibly caused by a burning device. If you have inhaled smoke, consult a physician. Inhaling smoke can be harmful to your health.
- Make sure there are no naked flames (for example, burning candles) placed on or near the hair & beard trimmer.
- Operate the hair & beard trimmer in a dry environment and never near highly flammable materials, such as curtains or explosive and/or flammable gases or liquids.
DANGER of injury
- The hair & beard trimmer is only intended for trimming human hair.
- All cables should be laid in such a way that no one steps on them or is obstructed by them.
- Never use the hair & beard trimmer with a faulty or broken comb attachment (12). A comb attachment (12) with missing teeth may lead to injury. The same also applies if the thinning attachment (11) has missing teeth.
RISK of damage to property
- Always take hold of the cable by the plug and do not pull on the cable itself.
- Do not place any items of furniture or other heavy objects on cables. Make sure that the cables are not bent, particularly at the plug and at the connecting sockets.
- Ensure that the power cable does not come into contact with hot or sharp areas or edges.
- Never make a knot in a cable and do not connect it with other cables.
- The hair & beard trimmer must not be exposed to direct sources of heat (for example, heaters), direct sunlight or strong artificial light.

The hair & beard trimmer must not be exposed to excessive shocks or vibrations.
- No foreign bodies should penetrate into the hair & beard trimmer.

6. Before initial use
Remove the hair & beard trimmer from the packaging and remove all packaging materials completely. Check the hair & beard trimmer for signs of damage. If the hair & beard trimmer is damaged, it must not be put into operation.
6.1. Charging the battery
Before initial start-up or if the built-in battery is flat, charge up the device as follows:
Firstly, connect the mains adapter port (5) of the hair & beard trimmer to the small plug on the cable of the mains adapter (6) and then insert the mains adapter (6) into an easily accessible, live power socket.
The display (4) will indicate the current charge level of the battery as a percentage during the charging process. As soon as the number "100" is shown on the display (4), the battery is fully charged.
Regardless of the charge level of the battery, the hair & beard trimmer can be used at any time by via mains operation.
6.2. Accessories
6.2.1. Scissors (7)
Use the scissors to manually remove hair in areas that are difficult to reach.
6.2.2. Comb (8)
Before using the hair & beard trimmers, use the comb (8) to give your hair or beard a thorough comb through and remove any knots.
6.2.3. Blade oil (9)
After cleaning, add a few drops of blade oil (9) to the blade block (1) to keep the blade block (1) moving freely.
6.2.4. Cleaning brush (10)
Use the cleaning brush (10) to remove any remaining hair from the blade block (1).
6.2.5. Thinning attachment (11)
The thinning attachment (11) supplied enables you to thin out your hair style without shortening it all. The special design of the thinning attachment (11) ensures that only a section of the hair is cut; the rest of your hair will remain its original length.
Fitting the thinning attachment (11) is similar to fitting a comb attachment (12). In order to fit the thinning attachment (11), push it carefully onto the blade block (1) of the hair & beard trimmer until both prongs of the thinning attachment (11) on the right and left lock into the recesses on the hair & beard trimmer. To remove the thinning attachment (11), lever the prongs on the left and right out of the recesses on the hair & beard trimmer and take off the thinning attachment (11).
Please note: The thinning attachment (11) needs to be fitted so that the recesses of the thinning attachment (11) are pointing in the direction in which the hair & beard trimmer moves.
6.2.6. Comb attachments (12)
With the comb attachments (12), you have the option of selecting a length setting of between 4 mm and 30 mm for the remaining length of the cut hair.
The cutting length adjustment switch (2) (0.8 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.8 mm) can also be used to select in between stages if the cutting lengths specified on the comb attachments are not exactly what you require.
Without a comb attachment (12), the hair is cut at a length of 0.8 mm and 2.8 mm. Use the cutting length adjustment switch (2) (0.8 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.8 mm) to set the cutting length you require.
In order to fit one of the six comb attachments (12), push them carefully onto the blade block (1) of the hair & beard trimmer until both prongs of the comb attachment (12) on the right and left lock into the recesses on the hair & beard trimmer. To remove a comb attachment (12), remove the prongs on the left and right from the recesses on the hair & beard trimmer and take off the comb attachment (12).

7. Initial use
7.1. Cutting hair
The hair & beard trimmer can be used either in battery mode or with a connected mains adapter (6).
DANGER! Take care when shaving areas of the body with thinner skin (for example, armpits or pubic area). There is a risk of injury.
The hair being cut must be dry.
- Firstly, familiarise yourself with the hair & beard trimmer and try to hold it so that the on/off button (3) can be easily pressed. Please make sure that it rests securely in your hand.
- Give your hair a good comb through.
• If necessary, use a comb attachment (12) to achieve the desired cutting length.
If you are not sure which comb attachment (12) you should use, start with the largest (28—30 mm) first and then change to a smaller comb attachment (12) if you need to.
- Switch on the hair & beard trimmer by pressing the on/off button (3).
Always switch on the hair & beard trimmer first before you start cutting. This will prevent the blades from getting blocked.
- Position the hair & beard trimmer such that the surface of the blade block (1) can move parallel to the skin. Always run the hair & beard trimmer evenly through the hair as much as possible. If the hair & beard trimmer is positioned differently, this can affect the set cutting lengths.
To avoid injury or skin irritation when cutting folds of the skin or areas with thinner skin, you should stretch the skin with your fingers as necessary.
- Beginning cutting your hair at the neck or sides and move towards the middle of the head. Then cut the front section of the hair, also towards the middle of the head.
• Ideally, it is best to cut against the direction of hair growth. - To ensure you don't miss any hair, move the hair & beard trimmer across the same hair sections several times.
• We also recommend that you occasionally comb your hair in between. - For cutting lengths over 12 mm, you may want to run the hair & beard trimmer through the hair several times from different directions. This will give you an even cutting line.
- When a comb attachment (12) is attached, the hair is shortened to the chosen length. The comb attachments (12) need to be fitted so that the teeth of the comb attachments (12) are pointing in the direction in which the hair & beard trimmer moves. You can also use the cutting length adjustment switch (2) (0.8 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.8 mm) to make a fine adjustment.
- Without a comb attachment (12), the hair is cut at a length of 0.8 mm and 2.8 mm. Use the cutting length adjustment switch (2) (0.8 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.8 mm) to set the cutting length you require.
The following table provides an overview of the cutting lengths you can set using the cutting length adjustment switch (2) combined with a comb attachment (12).

7.2. Contour cutting
Position the front edge of the blade block (1) at the required level of the hairline. Now move the hair & beard trimmer evenly in a downwards motion.
7.3. Beard trimming
• Comb your beard in the direction of hair growth using the comb (8) provided.
- Trim your beard by starting from the ear and working your way downwards. Trim one side first and then the other.
- If you want to cut the beard very short or make contours, use the hair & beard trimmer without a comb attachment (12).
- Adjust the cutting length as required by using the cutting length adjustment switch (2).
- To trim a moustache, comb the hair straight down using the comb (8) provided. Start cutting in the middle above the mouth and work your way from there to one side first, and then to the other.
8. Cleaning/maintenance
8.1. Cleaning
DANGER! Always remove the mains adapter (6) from the socket and the small plug on the cable of the mains adapter from the mains adapter port (5) of the hair & beard trimmer before cleaning commences. Switch off the hair & beard trimmer.
DANGER! Never immerse the hair & beard trimmer in water or any other liquid.
- Remove the comb attachment (12), if fitted. The comb attachments (12) can be cleaned using soapy water. Then dry them well.
- The housing of the hair & beard trimmer can be wiped using a slightly damp cloth; never use any aggressive cleaning agents.
- Remove any remaining hair from the blade block (1) using the cleaning brush (10).
- For a more intensive clean, you can remove the blade block (1) from the hair & beard trimmer. Use your thumbs to apply pressure to the white ceramic blade until the blade block (1) comes off the head of the hair & beard trimmer. Remove the blade block (1).

The blade block (1) of the hair & beard trimmer is subject to constant wear resulting from use. To keep wear to a minimum and keep the blades sharp, the blade block should be cleaned and oiled after use every time.
8.3. Storing the device when not in use/travel lock
If the hair & beard trimmer is not going to be used for a long period of time, clean as described in the "Cleaning" section.
To help maintain the battery performance, you should charge it at regular intervals. Keep the hair & beard trimmer in a clean, cool, dry place. If necessary, activate the travel lock.
To prevent it from switching on unintentionally, the hair & beard trimmer has a travel lock function:
- Press and hold the On/Off button (3) for approximately five seconds to activate the travel lock function.
- Press and hold the On/Off button (3) for approximately five seconds to deactivate the travel lock function. The travel lock is also deactivated by connecting the mains adapter (6).
9. Troubleshooting
9.1. The hair & beard trimmer doesn't seem to be working
- The built-in battery is empty. Charge the battery.
- Ensure that the socket, into which the mains adapter (6) is plugged, is receiving power. If necessary, try another socket that you know is working.
9.2. I'm not happy with the result of the cut
- The blade block (1) is dirty and/or is not running smoothly. Clean and oil the blade block (1) as described in the 'Cleaning' section.
10. Environmental and waste disposal information

Make sure the packaging is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Cardboard packaging can be put out for waste-paper collection or taken to public collection points for recycling. The plastic packaging used for your device is collected by your local waste management company and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner.
The integrated battery cannot be removed for disposal.

Li-IonThe lithium-ion battery used in this device does not belong in normal domestic waste and must be disposed of in the appropriate way. Contact your local collection point. Point out during disposal that the device contains a battery.
Discharge the built-in battery before disposal. Switch on the hair & beard trimmer and leave it running until the battery is empty.
If it is not possible to discharge the battery due to a fault or damage, ask your local disposal facility how to proceed further.

12. Notes on guarantee and service
Warranty of TARGA GmbH
Dear Customer,
This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights towards the seller. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty as described below.
Warranty conditions
The warranty period commences upon the date of purchase. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as it is required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing faults occur within three years of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace the product free of charge as we deem appropriate.
Warranty period and legal warranty rights
The warranty period is not extended in the event of a warranty claim. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damage or defects discovered upon purchase must be reported immediately when the product has been unpacked. Any repairs required after the warranty period will be subject to charge.
Scope of warranty
The device was carefully manufactured in compliance with stringent quality guidelines and subjected to thorough testing before it left the works. The warranty applies to material and manufacturing faults. This warranty does not cover product components which are subject to normal wear and which can therefore be regarded as wearing parts, or damage to fragile components such as switches, rechargeable batteries or components made of glass. This warranty is void if the product is damaged, incorrectly used or serviced. To ensure correct use of the product, always comply fully with all instructions contained in the user manual. The warnings and recommendations in the user manual regarding correct and incorrect use and handling of the product must always be observed and complied with. The product is solely designed for private use and is not suitable for commercial applications. The warranty is rendered void in the event of incorrect handling and misuse, if it is subjected to force, and also if any person other than our authorised service technicians interfere with the device. No new warranty period commences if the product is repaired or replaced.
