UKL 12 A1 Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new device. You have selected a high-quality product. The operat- ing instructions are a constituent of this product. They contain important information about safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use this product only as described and only for the specified areas of application. Retain these instructions for future reference. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner(s). Intended use The vehicle air cleaner is only intended for air cleaning in privately-used vehicles. Any other use is considered to be improper, and can result in damage and injuries. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from improper use or unauthorised modifications will not be consid- ered. This product is for private use only, and is not intended for commercial use.3 UKL 12 A1

Warnings The following warnings are used in these operating instructions: DANGER A warning at this risk level indicates an imminently hazardous situation. A note indicates additional information that will assist you in handling the device. Safety instructions ■ Check the device for any visible exter- nal damage before use. Do not use an device that has been damaged or dropped. ■ Protect the device from penetration by moisture and liquids. ■ Never subject the device to extreme heat or humidity. This applies especially when storing in a car. Extreme tem- peratures can occur in car interiors and glove compartments during long peri- ods of immobilisation. Remove electrical5 UKL 12 A1

and electronic devices from the vehicle. ■ This device may be used by children aged 8 over and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the device safely and are aware of the potential risks. Children must not use the device as a play- thing. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by chil- dren unless they are supervised. ■ Do not operate the device whilst steering a car or any other vehicle. This is hazardous to other road users. ■ Do not cover the ventilation slots.GB

UKL 12 A1 Initial operation Check the items supplied This device is supplied with the following components as standard: ▯ Vehicle air cleaner ▯ This operating manual NOTE ► Before starting to use the device, check that all items are present and undamaged. If any items are missing or damaged due to defective packaging or transportation, please contact the Service Hotline (see chapter "Service"). Remove all parts from the packaging, and then remove all packaging material from the device.7 UKL 12 A1

Controls Vehicle plug Indicator lamp Ventilation slots On/Off switch Handling and operation ♦ Insert the vehicle plug into the 12V power socket of your car. As a rule this is the cigarette lighter socket in the dashboard of your vehicle. NOTE The main unit with the ventilation slots can be continuously rotated through 90°. The ventilation slots must be free and should be pointing towards the middle of the vehicle interior. ♦ Rotate the main unit with the ventilation slots into the required position.GB

UKL 12 A1 ♦ Switch the device on by sliding the On/Off switch to the "ON" position. The indicator lamp illumi- nates and signals that the vehicle air cleaner is operating. Depending on the vehicle type it is pos- sible that the ignition has to be switched on first. ♦ To switch the device off, set the On/Off switch to the "OFF" position. The indicator lamp goes out. CAUTION ► The device also consumes power in standby mode and therefore must be disconnected from the on-board power supply after use! Otherwise the battery will discharge when the engine is not running.9 UKL 12 A1

Functionality and effect of the vehicle air cleaner The device continuously emits negative ions during operation. The negative ions the attach themselves to pollutants, bacteria and germs and make them harm- less by means of their electrical charge. Both scientific investigations and practical experience have shown show that enriching the air with negative ions has a positive effect on human capabilities. Maintenance Replacing the fuse There is a fuse in the 12 V vehicle air cleaner for protecting the vehicle's on-board power supply. If the device no longer works, check the fuse and replace if necessary. ♦ Firstly, disconnect the device from the 12 V con- nection.GB

UKL 12 A1 ♦ Open the 12 V vehicle air cleaner by carefully unscrewing the fluted screw insert anticlockwise (using pliers if necessary) and removing it. ♦ Remove the plug tip from the fuse and take out the fuse. ♦ Now insert a new fuse of type F1AL 250 V into the 12 V vehicle connector, fit the plug tip to the slightly protruding end of the fuse and screw the previously removed screw insert back in. NOTE If the device still does not work or the fuse blows again immediately, the device is defective. In this case, please contact the Service Hotline (see chapter "Service").11 UKL 12 A1

Cleaning and storage CAUTION ► Disconnect the device before cleaning and when not in use from the 12 V connection to avoid the risk of an electric shock. ► The temperatures inside a vehicle can reach extreme values in summer and winter. Damage should therefore be avoided by not storing the device in the vehicle. ♦ Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. ♦ Store the device in a location that is clean, dry, dust-free and not in direct sunlight.GB

UKL 12 A1 Disposal Under no circumstances must the device be disposed of in the normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the pro- visions of the European 2012/19/EU WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Dispose of the device via an approved disposal com- pany or your municipal waste facility. Please observe the currently applicable regulations. Please contact your waste disposal centre if you are in any doubt. Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner.13 UKL 12 A1

This device has been manufac- tured with care and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, please contact your Customer Service by telephone. This is the only way to guarantee free return of your goods.15 UKL 12 A1

The warranty only covers claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damage, worn parts or damage to fragile components such as buttons or batteries. This device is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty is deemed void if this product has been subjected to improper or inappropriate handling, abuse or modifications which were not carried out by one of our authorised service centres. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty. The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs made under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, or no later than two days after the date of purchase. Repairs made after expiry of the warranty period are charge- able.GB
