Frequently Asked Questions - Monarch 9825 Paxar

How to load labels in the Monarch 9825 printer?
Open the cover and unlock the print head. Place the label roll on the holder, ensuring it unwinds from top to bottom (standard labels) or bottom to top (loose labels). Route the web under the pins and through the center of the gap sensor, then adjust the guides. Lock the print head and close the cover. Press Feed/Cut to position the labels.
How to install the ribbon in the printer?
Open the cover and unlock the print head. Place the take-up mandrel on the take-up spindle. Unroll about 10 cm of ribbon, pass it under the roller and print head, then attach it to the take-up mandrel. Tension the ribbon by turning the take-up spindle clockwise. Lock the print head and close the cover.
What to do in case of a paper jam?
Turn off the printer. Open the cover and unlock the print head. Remove the ribbon and label roll if necessary. Carefully clear the jam. Replace the roll and ribbon, close the print head and cover, then turn on the printer. Press Feed/Cut to advance labels.
How to clean the print head?
Turn off the printer and open the cover. Moisten a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and gently rub the print head to remove deposits. Also clean the platen and sensors. Let dry before closing and turning on. Use a CLEAN-STRIP tape if the head is very dirty.
How to adjust the print contrast?
From the main menu, select Setup then Contrast. The default value is 0, range from -390 to +156. Press arrows to increase (darker) or decrease (lighter) contrast. Confirm with Enter/Pause. Use a barcode verifier for optimal adjustment.
How to interrupt a print batch in progress?
Press Enter/Pause during printing to pause the batch. The pause menu displays options: Print Mode to resume, Restart Batch to restart, Cancel Batch to cancel the current batch, or Cancel All to cancel all pending batches.
How to print an error label?
If the printer displays an error code (000-499), press Feed/Cut. This prints an error label containing information such as format name, error number, and software version. This label is useful for troubleshooting.
What do common error codes like 750 or 754 mean?
Code 750 indicates the print head is too hot; turn off the printer and let it cool. Code 754 signals a depleted ribbon or ribbon jam; check the ribbon and reinstall it. Code 755 means the print head is open; close it. For other codes, consult the manual.
How to replace the print head?
Turn off the printer. Open the cover and unlock the print head. Disconnect the cable from the faulty head, then align the new head on the tabs and snap it in. Reconnect the cable, clean the new head with isopropyl alcohol, then close the mechanism. Turn on the printer and perform a test print.
How to use peel mode?
Peel mode requires an installed option. Load labels normally, then open the exit cover. Feed the liner over the peel bar and through the lower opening of the cover. Pull the liner to tension it. In unit mode, the next label prints after the previous one is removed. Maximum speed is 203 mm/s.
