Frequently Asked Questions - Mini HD D-LINK

How to reset the D-Link Mini HD camera?

Use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button (small hole at the back) until the LED turns solid red. The camera will restart and be ready for a new setup.

Why won't my camera connect to Wi-Fi?

Make sure your router is on, Wi-Fi is enabled, and your mobile device is connected to the same network. Also verify that the camera is within range of the router and that your mobile's Bluetooth is turned on during setup.

How to mount the camera on the wall?

Use the included base plate: mark the two holes, drill with a 6 mm bit (25 mm depth), insert wall plugs, screw the plate. Then place the camera in its mount, connect the USB power, align the marks on the mount and plate, then turn the mount to the right to lock. Adjust the angle and tighten the locking screw.

What to do if the night vision image is white or foggy?

This happens when the infrared LEDs reflect off a nearby surface (wall, object). Reposition the camera to avoid any direct reflection into the lens. Move it away from any obstacle less than 50 cm.

Can I use the camera with other mydlink apps?

No, the Mini HD camera is only compatible with the mydlink app (not to be confused with mydlink Home, mydlink Lite, or others). Download the correct version from the App Store or Google Play.

How to change my mydlink account password?

Open the mydlink app, go to account settings (profile icon), then select "Change password". You will receive a confirmation email.

Can the camera detect animals?

Standard motion detection reacts to any change in the image, including animals. However, the person detection feature (range 2-5 m) is optimized for human shapes and may ignore small animals.

How to clean the camera?

Unplug the camera. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the housing and lens. Never use chemical or abrasive cleaners. Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.

What to do if the LED stays orange?

A solid orange LED indicates the camera is performing a firmware update. Do not power off the device. Wait until the LED turns green (normal) or blue for a successful connection.

Where should I place the camera for optimal detection?

Place it at least 1.3 m from the ground. Person detection distance is optimal between 2 and 5 m. Avoid areas with bright lights or reflective surfaces to not hinder night vision.

Sign In or Sign Up for a mydlink account. mydlink Lite users may sign in with the same account.

Add the Device

Tap the menu button ≡ then tap Add a Device. Scan the Setup Code on the device, then follow the app instructions.

Placement

Place the camera at least 1.3 meters from the ground. The viewing distance for Person Detection is between 2 - 5 meters.

Mounting

Position the baseplate on the wall. Keep it in the same place while using a pencil to mark the two holes.

Drill two 25mm deep holes with a 6mm drill bit over the pencil marks. If necessary, hammer in the plastic wall anchors to support the screws.

Place the baseplate on the wall where you can see both holes through the baseplate. Screw the screws into the wall to secure the baseplate.

Mounting

Place the camera into the mount, ensuring that the power port in the back is exposed. Plug the USB power cable into the camera ensuring it is plugged in all the way.

Align the slash markings on the camera mount and baseplate. Press the camera mount onto the baseplate.

Twist the camera mount slightly to the right to lock it onto the baseplate. Adjust the camera angle, then tighten the screw on the left to lock it in place.

FAQ

What do I do if my device is not working properly?

Reset the device and reinstall it. To reset your device, use a paper clip to press and hold the recessed Reset button until the LED turns solid red.

During installation, ensure that:

• your router is connected to the Internet and has Wi-Fi enabled
• your mobile device is connected to your router Wi-Fi and has Bluetooth enabled
• your mydlink device is in range of your Wi-Fi network

Why is there a white haze when viewing in night vision mode?

When viewing in night vision mode, the IR lights on your camera may be reflecting off a nearby surface. Try repositioning your camera to avoid glare from IR LEDs.
