Setting Up and Heating Up

CAUTION!

  • Keep the appliance and the power supply (mains cable or extension cable) away from water sources and sources of heat.
  • Only use suitable extension cables.
  • Arrange the power supply in such a way that people cannot trip over it inadvertently or that the latter cannot be reached by children.

  • Set up the appliance on a stable and even base near a Sokket. Adjust the appliance using the adjustable legs (A) so that it is horizontally straight.

Cilio 490060 - CAUTION! - 1

  1. The switch (4) must be in the "OFF/AUS" position.

  2. Plug the power cable into a socket.

CAUTION!

  • Liquid chocolate must only be poured into the bottom dish of the appliance once the heating up period has come to an end.
The heating up time is approx. 3-5 minutes.

  • Set the switch (4) to the "HEAT/WärME" position (the heating up period begins). In the meantime, you can prepare the chocolate.

Preparing the chocolate

CAUTION!

  • Do not use any chocolate containing ingredients such as nuts, almonds or cracknel. This can jam the worm screw (2).
  • The smaller the pieces of chocolate, the faster the melting process.
  • Premelt approximately 600g of chocolate.

TIP!

  • There are various options for premelting the chocolate.

Melting in the microwave

  • preparation time approx. 10 minutes
  • break up the chocolate into small pieces and premelt it for a maximum of 2 minutes at 600W in a container that is suitable for microwaves. Then add the desired amount of oil and stir thoroughly
  • start the chocolate fountain prior to filling it and allow it to warm up for approx. 5 minutes

Melting in a saucepan (directly with the oil)

  • Preparation time approx. 20 minutes
  • Heat up the desired amount of oil/fat in small stages in a coated saucepan (do not apply too strong a heat). Add the chocolate, which has previously been broken up into small pieces, and allow it to melt stirring continuously. A smooth mixture must be produced.
  • Start the chocolate fountain prior to filling it and allow it to warm up for approx. 5 minutes.

Melting in the appliance

  • Preparation time approx. 60 - 120 minutes.

  • Set the switch (4) to the "HEAT/WÄRME" position and allow the appliance to warm up for approx. 5 minutes.

  • Place the chocolate, which has previously been broken up into small pieces, in the bottom dish (1).
  • The chocolate is now slowly and gently melted.
  • When all of the chocolate has melted, stir in the required amount of vegetable oil using a teaspoon.

TIPI!

In the event of the chocolate mixture not running evenly over the tower (3), briefly switch off the appliance and allow it to cool down a little. Then restart the appliance.

Starting the worm screw and producing the fountain effect

  1. Set the switch (4) to the "HEAT/WärME" position and allow the appliance to warm up for approx. 5 minutes.
  2. A mixture is ready to be poured in if the chocolate has completely melted and it has a runny consistency.
  3. Place the heated mixture in the bottom dish (1).
  4. Now set the switch (4) to the "MOTOR & HEAT/WÄRME" position (the worm screw starts).
  5. The chocolate mixture is sucked in below the tower (3) and comes out again at the top end of the tower (3).

TIP!

  • If the mixture has been properly prepared, this results in a continuous fountain flow and the tower is completely covered.
  • More liquid chocolate can be added at any time whilst in operation
  • If you are expecting a lot of guests, it is recommended that you have a certain amount of chocolate at the ready.

Applying the chocolate

TIP!

Interruptions or a halt to the fountain flow can be avoided, if you::

  • do not allow any pieces of food to fall into the chocolate.
  • never add cool or cold liquids.

  • skewer the desired food with a wooden skewer or a fondue fork, for example, and hold it in the flowing chocolate.

Ending the operation

CAUTION!

  1. Set the switch (4) to the "OFF/AUS" position.
  2. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply (remove the power cable).

Cleaning

CAUTION!

  • There is slight risk of burns. The appliance is operated using a heating device. Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning and pull out the plug.
  • Please be particularly careful if you are moving the appliance whilst the contents are hot.

CAUTION!

  • Do not pour excess chocolate down the drain or the toilet (risk of blockage). Use other disposable containers or plastic bags and put them in with the household waste.
  • The motor block (1) contains all the electrical components. NEVER immerse the motor block in water or clean it in the dishwasher.
  • NEVER use scouring sponges or scouring cloths.

TIP!

We recommend cleaning the bottom dish, the tower and the worm screw by hand. The use of a dishwasher should be avoided.

  1. Disassemble the appliance.
  2. Wipe the motor block clean along with the bottom dish (1) using a damp cloth and allow them to dry.
  3. Prepare some hot washing-up water and place the worm screw (2) and the tower (3) in it for approx. 5 minutes.
  4. Then clean them, rinse them with clean water and dry them off.
