Frequently Asked Questions - SFW123GDC SentrySafe

How do I open my safe with the mechanical combination lock?
Turn the dial to 0, then turn it to the right passing zero three times, stop at the first number. Turn left passing the second number once, stop at the second time on that number. Turn right to the third number. Lower the handle to open.
How do I unlock the safe with the electronic lock?
Insert the key into the lock (if equipped) and turn to the unlocked position. Enter the 5-digit factory code (on the back of the manual) or your personal code. A green light comes on. You have 4 seconds to lower the handle.
What if I forgot my user code?
Use the 5-digit factory code found on the back of the owner's guide. This code cannot be deleted and always works. Once the safe is open, you can reprogram a new user code.
How do I program a user code?
Press the P key, enter the 5-digit factory code, then wait for the green light. Within 5 seconds, enter your new 5-digit personal code. To delete, follow the same procedure but enter 00000.
Why won't my safe open after entering the code?
Check that the handle is in the horizontal position. If the door has a waterproof seal, it may be hard to open: hold the handle up while entering the code, then lower it. If an incorrect code has been entered 3 times, delay mode activates for 2 minutes. Do not remove batteries, as this would extend the wait.
How do I change the keypad batteries?
Slide the battery drawer on the side of the keypad. Insert 4 new AAA alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Close the drawer. If the yellow light is on, replace the batteries.
Can I bolt my safe to the floor?
Yes, a bolting kit is provided for some models. Drill two holes in the slots at the bottom of the safe (11 mm drill bit). Bolt to a wooden floor (7.2 mm drill bit) or brick floor (9.5 mm drill bit with anchors). Note: bolting nullifies water resistance.
How do I maintain my safe to prevent humidity?
Keep the desiccant packet inside. Open the safe every two weeks to air out. For delicate items (jewelry, watches), place them in an airtight container. Do not store pearls, computer media, or negatives.
What does the fire warranty cover?
The limited lifetime program replaces the safe if damaged by fire, provided the product is registered within 30 days of purchase at www.registermysafe.com. You must provide a description of the fire, model, serial number, a photo, and an official report.
Where can I find the factory code and serial number?
The 5-digit factory code is printed on the back of the owner's guide. The serial number is on a label inside the safe or on the registration card. Write them down and keep them in a safe place, outside the safe.
